[vinnomot] Flash flood in Khagrachari

Khagrachari is a small town in the district of the same name.
Nestled in a valley ringed ýwith blue, magnificent hills, it is a
jewel in the crown of the Chittagong Hill Tracts of ýBangladesh. ý

Next to the town runs the rivulet known as the Chengi, which pours
its meagre stream ýinto the artificial lake of Kaptai. ý

Meagre stream? Most of the time: meagre, but lovely, especially when
its meanders are ýviewed from the hills. ý

However, on the night of the 16th of October, 2007, the Chengi
changed beyond ýrecognition. It had rained all night, and by dawn,
the river was a surge of rapid waters ýcarrying flotsam from the
hills. It was a magnificent sight!ý

A brief trip into the city, and the devastation wrought by the
usually docile Chengi was ýheartbreaking. People had woken up with
their houses flooded, their crops destroyed, ýtheir belongings
ruined….ý

And what was worse was that this was the second flash flood in a
month. But the ýprevious overflow of the monsoon had been mild. The
city people recalled that the last ýtime such a terrible flood had
occurred was in 1984. They are a hardy lot, and every year ýduring
monsoon – which lasts from June/July to September/October – they are
visited by ýat least one such calamity. ý

The Chengi reminded me of that famous line uttered by Mrs. Moore in
E. M. Forster's "A ýPassage to India": "What a terrible river…what a
beautiful river!" ý

Concerned parents across the U.S. are leading a nationwide revolt against
unnecessary, untested and dangerous vaccines as CDC records show a growing
amount of religious exemptions on vaccine forms, following a media blitz by
Jenny McCarthy in which she blamed a vaccine for causing her son's autism.

Far from the biased and prejudiced context in which the Associated Press
headline framed it - 'Parents take a shot at lying on vaccine forms' - the
move comes as a result of increased understanding and education about the
dangers of vaccines.

Most recently, actress and model Jenny McCarthy's appearance on the Oprah
Winfrey show and numerous other prime time TV programs has spurred women to
seriously investigate the link between autism in babies and young children
and vaccinations.

McCarthy's new book, Louder than Words: A Mother's Journey in Healing
Autism, is partly about her contention that her son's autism was caused
primarily by a combined vaccination administered around the age of 18 months.

Increased sensitivity about immunization is also a consequence of the
growing awareness of the fact that vaccines are not mandatory - a hoax
played out by authorities across the U.S., most recently by Texas Governor
Rick Perry in the case of the HPV vaccine.

In that instance, a media propaganda bandwagon aided in disseminating the
myth that the untested and dangerous shot that has already been linked with
devastating side-effects, which Perry and his cronies were bought off to
peddle by Merck, had become "the law" despite the fact that Perry's
executive order only "recommended" that parents give their kids the vaccine.

There is no law in America, aside from those applying to medical workers,
that says you or your child has to take any vaccine whatsoever, no matter
what any executive order, requirement, mandate or policy dictates, there is
no situation where you can go to prison for refusing a government vaccine
under the U.S. constitution and the law of the land.

The mass media drumbeat constantly conditions people to believe that if
they don't take their shots they will be kicked out of school, arrested and
thrown in jail. This trick will continue to hoodwink Americans into taking
all manner of dangerous and untested vaccines, the number of which rises
every year, until they realize that there is no law that forces them to
take any vaccine.

Mercury is still being added to vaccines at completely unsafe levels
considering the fact that it is a known neuro-toxin. A recent study
undertaken by the University of Calgary unveiled concrete evidence that
mercury ions alter the cell-membrane of developing neurons in babies and
young children, directly contributing to autism (watch above).

Autism rates have exploded in the U.S. but researchers have noticed that
there are no instances of the disease in the Amish community and virtually
no cases reported in the third world.

Vaccines and drugs that are not stringently tested and are instead
foisted upon populations for the purposes of making obscene profits have a
clear history of deadly consequences.

Consider the case of Bayer Pharmaceuticals, who deliberately dumped a
vaccine that was known to be contaminated with AIDS virus on the European
and Latin American market after it killed people in America. Thousands died
from an action that the U.S. government allowed to happen through the FDA.

Peruse the plethora of examples where vaccines containing mercury, live
HIV virus, live cancer and other horrors have wrought misery after victims
were bullied into taking them by government mandates that they were deluded
into thinking was the law.

The history alone, a legacy that led former director of the National
Institute of Health Dr. James R. Shannon to state, "The only safe vaccine
is one that is never used," implores us to educate others on the dangers of
vaccines and ensure that similar executive orders such as Rick Perry's in
Texas are not passed elsewhere in the country as a result of cynical greed
driven lobbying and corporate crony payoffs.

Parents across the country are beginning to realize that the explosion in
rates of childhood autism, ADHD and other illnesses are directly caused by
the ever-increasing number of dangerous and untested vaccinations that
overwhelm a child's immune system with deadly toxins and poisons like mercury.

The national revolt against dangerous vaccines is growing apace but it is
likely to be countered by a PR backlash on behalf of pharmaceutical giants
and the government in an attempt to scare parents into believing that all
vaccinations are necessary and that it is against the law to block their
child from receiving them. It is down to us to help educate parents about
the lethal history of vaccinations and why their number should be
drastically reduced, especially for infants and children.

[vinnomot] With a grain of piquant salt: Those frogs have a better Middle East foreign policy than the ross-bifs or yanks.

So here we have a country which was considered to be a colonial enterprise in the Middle East, hated with a vengeance, totally imperialistic, only interested in its own culture and shoving its language down the native throats, only interested in the natives' oil and in return selling arms to repressive regimes. And then thirty years later, it has suddenly become a close friend of the very same people who previously thought of them as an enemy. Yes, Sir, I am referring to France, the same cheese eating surrendering monkeys who have successfully managed to turn their foreign policy dramatically upside down, inside out, and to turn enemies into friends. Compare that to the USA and UK, which are still embroiled in that hell-hole called as the Middle East. What happened there? Any lessons to be learnt?

Gen. Moeen U. Ahmed on his way to America stopped by London and gave a personal glorifying interview with local Bangla TV.

Gen. Moeen proudly mentioned the very reason he is taking this long trip because Harvard University has invited him to deliver a speech. He did not fail to mention that Bangladesh should feel proud that such a big institution has invited his military chief. While he was talking about receiving his invitation, his face was beamingly glowing with proud.

 

Surely, we should be proud of such event, which suppose to take place on 21^st of October. We will closely monitor the outcome of such event if it really takes place. It is not just for personal ecstasy but which need to be shared as a nation according to general himself.

 

I am trying to learn about this scheduled historical event for Bangladesh from Harvard University web portal as well as their offices but unfortunately, so far I am completely unsuccessful. Neither their web portal nor their offices can trace such event exist.

 

Nevertheless, I cannot give up! It hits my pride as a nation. My General is not lying for sure, so it must be the incompetent officio of Harvard who does not have any knowledge about this historic event for Bangladesh. Alternatively, may be something more interesting then that, Uhoo! Is it possible that America is giving security of my general highest priority and therefore not disclosing his appearance?

 

However, some of the sources I have with Harvard is giving me very hart breaking news, what is it? It is not Harvard but a teaching staff namely Dr. David C. King who invited General Moeen in his personal capacity to speak in front of student of his own class therefore this scheduled event is not published in Harvard notice board.

 

Though, by now I am very disappointed but still looking for an escape window not for my self but for my nation from this disgraceful situation. I started my inquiry about who is this David C. King. In my mind, he must be some one very especial with high connection that brought my general here in US with hope that this will be glorifying for his nation, which is, mine too.

 

But when bad news comes it comes from all side, I take a deep breath, lungful of air and exhale a very long mouthful of air with complete frustration. Dr. David C. King is a Lecturer in Public Policy at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, where he teaches about the U.S. Congress, Election Reform, and Youth Political Engagement.  Professor King joined the Harvard faculty in 1992.

 

Dr. Kings resume includes following as his specialty

Legislatures and representation

Elections and election administration

The mobilization and political attitudes of young people

 

Bangladesh government sought his advice for election reform and wanted to appoint him as special consultant during his visit to Bangladesh. For that reason and out of courtesy, he invited Gen. Moeen to come to his school and to speak to his class and probably finalize the deal of him working as consultant. That is it, nothing more and nothing less remains about this story and my investigation ended there with a face longer then when I started. Now readers it is up to you to decide how proud you feel out of this ordinary story to make this event extraordinary for my poor nation.

 

I am still field with optimism that the accounts I am giving you is untrue and Harvard will give my general a red carpet reception. Let me confess, its not just for him or my nation but my over frustrated long face to go normal.
