Re: [mukto-mona] Kind Attn. Dr. Jiten Roy

WRT: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto-mona/message/47175

Mr. Ahmed,

I read you posting all right, but did not want to respond, because I am sick and tired of talking about myself. I thought I said enough. I, rather, want to discuss about issues that affect societies around us. But, I like your style; you are a persistent gentleman, and that's a good thing. I guess, I have no other choice but to reply to your query about my personal views on a hypothetical question.

You said:

My answer:

Please be reminded that this is a hypothetical situation, and it is hard to answer those question truthfully. Because, so many circumstantial issues are unknown. The decision becomes easier when it really happens. I will try my best.

I do not have to support all US wars initiated by the government, which could be republican or Democrat. I supported US invasion of Afghanistan, but I did not support US invasion of Iraq. I know the sentiment of those people in that region and I am very familiar with Shea and Sunni religious conflict. Saddam was a brutal dictator, who ruled majority Shea by force and terror. I wanted him out but it should not have been done through war. Bush did not have clear idea about Iraqi people. He was misled to believe that Iraqi people will welcome US soldiers with flower garland. This notion was created by the successful lobby of the exiled Iraqi Shea groups in the USA. You remember, Turkey did not give US permission to use their land to attack Iraq. Did US invade Turkey? They did not. I hope, I am able to clarify my point that it is not easy to make a comment on a hypothetical question like this.

Let me introduce another hypothetical situation. Lets say China has attacked USA, and they are preparing their next nuclear attack on USA and US needs to retaliate immediately otherwise millions of US citizens will die. Bangladesh will not allow their land for invasion of China and US has no other ways to retaliate, which will never be the case. For the sake of argument, lets say that's the case. Under the circumstances, as a citizen of this country, it will be my solemn duty to support US actions against Bangladesh. How about if you are a US Soldier, could you say that I will not shoot my guns at Bangladesh? You can't; that's your duty. There are many such decisions we make in our lives that we wish we did not have to make. You will not be able to judge those decisions under normal circumstances because, under normal circumstances, our decisions are mixed with emotion, which evaporates under extraordinary circumstances. I hope, I answered your
questions, and passed my examination.

Best regards,

Jiten Roy
