[ALOCHONA] DU dilemma: You cannot expect any better from general’s brain

Those who do the left/right all day along, dig a hole only to fill it up at the end of the day this is what you can expect from their dull aptitude.

Military backed government of Dr. Fakhruddin which infect takes no decision of his own unless cleared by top army brass especially DGFI proved to be worthless incompetent HIJRA

Convicting DU teachers and student in the morning and then pardoning them invoking presidential clemency is nothing but RU drama staged all over again for DU.
Ego and anger of military brass failed to understand that they are getting upset for a mere setting fire in one of their car or getting ass kicked of one of their uniformed army personal is nothing comparing the crime army has done to this country for last few decades.

Can you blame citizens of Bangladesh if they set fire to all military barrack for becoming a cocoon of terror, a killing machine which killed thousands of Bangladeshi citizens civil and military alike in last thirty three years?

What about if people take law into their hand and give justice to those who killed Sheikh Mujib the father of the nation and set ablaze cantonments the center of the conspiracy?

Bangladesh military should get Bir Shreshtho title for killing 10 years old Sheikh Russell or for killing Arju Moni a pregnant women. Give them a gallantry award for killing house wife Bagom Mujib, Mrs. Kamal and Mrs. Jamal.

What about if people take law into their and hand and hang the generals from the tree for killing Gen. Khaled Mosharrof, Col. Huda, Col. Jamil, Maj. Haider, Col. Taher, Gen. Monjur and hundreds and thousands of other . Our heroes from liberation war were killed by this army like killing mosquito. Col. Taher, a handicapped freedom fighter can not escape their hunger for power, he was hanged with a verdict from a military kangaroo court.

What about if people have kept their ego and anger against Bangladesh military for killing president Ziaur Rahman and demands to dismantle Bangladesh army? Is that asking will be too much!

Time has come to put the derailed train of Bangladesh Army a killing machine to set in the track again. Conspiracy of few generals for power must end. Using guns and tanks against the masses must be stopped. Bangladesh army has gone through roughly about twenty three military coup d'état since 1975 to grab power. How many times you will conspire against our nation to fulfill your foreign master's dreams. We lost thousands of civilian as well as military personnel just for few top brasses.

The vast majority of army personal were victim of high ambitious generals like Moeen, Masud, Ershad and alike.

Stop this madness of killing for power otherwise a day will come when a real shipahi-jonota Biplob will take place to eradicate the generals from the face of the earth. Tyranny can win for a moment but sure tyranny can not win forever, truth will always prevail at the end, your destruction lies in you action.

[vinnomot] I always hope.

I never learn, I always hope.
I have been called many things in my life time of which only one I feel is true and that is that my belief in people is childlike. I always see the best in people as always seem to walk this planet with altered motives, their selfishness is personified, finding friends, true friends is trial and error.

In this world,  you get 3 types of people - there is always three…
The first type are the MMM's (me me me's), they are the most common, they are inherently selfish, they do not take the time out of their lives to query whether a friend is ok, they are only interested in what you can give to them.

The second type are the G&T's (give and takers), they are the ones that can give and take, there is a a medium if you will of give and take.

The third type are the GGG's (give give giver's), they are the ones that give all but expect nothing for themselves, they give selflessly and unconditionally.

My theory is that there are more type one people in this mad world which explains why in life you will come across them more on a day to day basis. Never give up, it is when it all seems pointless that it has the most meaning. Sometimes when we are hurt so much in our lives we start to believe that we don't deserve the happiness we see in others, we believe that we will hurt the very people that love us, our fear can cripple us. Take a deep breath and let it out, don't hold back for you DESERVE the happiness coming your way, you DESERVE the love that people shower upon you and most of all you are LOVED because of who you are, one of the most incredible people I have ever known! Let the sun shine upon you and soon you will feel it's warmth touch you, soon you will believe

Think about it, in reality there are no bad people, just people that make you feel more grateful for finding a GGG…

[mukto-mona] Release of Dhaka University teachers and students

Release of Dhaka University
teachers and students

Most of the detained students were severely assaulted by the law enforcers in the name of remand. All the freed students were showing visceral fear of law enforcing agencies when journalists were asking them about their experiences in detention.
Rafiqul Islam Sujon, who was sweating even in the winter morning, was struggling hard to stand upright. On Monday, he was taken to a hospital for treatment. He was having problem breathing and was stumbling as he tried to walk. Sujon however said it felt good to be free. 'But I can't talk much, it's very painful for me to talk now,' he said in a faint voice with much effort.
Another freed student, Liton Mahmud said Shahbagh police tortured him when he was taken to the police station. He had been arrested by Bhairab police on September 8 and was handed over to Shahbagh police. 'Police tortured me and broke one of my fingers on my left hand. They did not even arrange for my broken finger's treatment.'
What is it that makes the protectors, called police, turn into predators?
   Gopal Sengupta
   Canada

* * *

The freed students and teachers have vowed to continue their protest as before because they say that Dhaka University is the conscience of the nation. They speak for themselves. They do not speak on behalf of my conscience as they suffer from delusions of grandeur.
Four decades ago people owed a huge debt to sincere student politics. But those days are long gone. Students and teachers seem to enjoy the nonsense and negligence that define campus politics in the last four decades. Let them fix their own rotten house before claiming the moral high ground on affairs of the state. It is a pretty pathetic nation that condones rampaging students – simply because they are educated. No doubt those happy at the release are looking forward to our democratic tradition of guns on campus after the next election.
   Ezajur Rahman

Following the August incident, many things happened on the campus. Teachers and students were arrested, students resorted to agitation programmes, classes were boycotted and so on. The ultimate sufferers were the common students. But my heart bled when the teachers and students were taken into custody. I know how it feels to see fellow students bleeding in the hospital, getting exposed to teargas, being charged with baton and after being wounded not getting any treatment. I could realise how a father must feel when he saw his daughter being beaten up by law enforcers. I believe that their sacrifice will not go in vain.
The University of Dhaka has always produced Shamsuzzohas, not Yahyas.

[vinnomot] Re: [Diagnose] Dhaka University - "Oxford" of the East or "Ox-Fort" of the East! ?

Dear Mr. Akhter

Though it is painfull but it is a reality that all our educational institutions have turned den of criminals led and supervised by the hoodloom teachers. The name you gave is nothing but true.

The recent incedence is nothing but very calculated occurance by the anti Bangladesh gong duly supported and funded by mentors from accross the border. The release of the convicted goons (political agent of a big party known to all) is a red sign for "Rule of Law". In future we shall that the ferocious hasina and churni khaleda and their accomplices will come out victorious stapeding the Judiciary.

Did the politicians and the bloody "Porojibis" I hate to term them as Budhdhi jibi evr thought about the consequence of this ransom demands.Where they are taking us and who is going to pay for their sins ??????????????????????????
It is non but the poor nation as it is paying for the sins committed since day one of it's independence.

I fully support the for future steps to be taken.

Subj. Dhaka University - "Oxford" of the East or "Ox-Fort" of the East! ?

Dear All,

Three teachers of Dhaka University have been convicted for two years in jail for the crime committed by violating the Emergency Power Rules (EPR) at TSC (later pardoned by the President under political pressure) by a court of law of our civilized nation of Bangladesh- it is no longer under British rule or Pakistani control that violation of any law can be justified for self rule and democracy. So called political parties (AL and BNP) failed to conduct timely democratic election, so to avoid a catastrophic civil war the President had to declare Emergency Rule.  Present Care Taker Government is obliged and committed to hold democratic fair election within 2008 and also committed to eliminate major corruption to facilitate a fair and transparent election (proper voter registration and  elimination of influence of corrupted money is a must and an internationally acceptable democratic election process). All political parties,  general public, and international communities have accepted it.

Now, Dhaka University, our Alma mater, our pride  " Oxford of the East" has become or behaving like "Ox-fort" of the East,  to clarify more in Bangla- "Brisha- Durga" . means "Fort of Oxen";  no human brain, behaves like bullying, butting, unruly; needing more leashes to control. One sister, Ms. Dina Khan, who possibly lives abroad, quoted below, said,    "The people graduated from the University of Bangladesh after coming in abroad are doing odd jobs such as taxi driving hotel boy, city council cleaning works until & unless they get proper education from the education centre in abroad".. , at the same time Prof. Rahman Soban, a renowned think tank scholar of Bangladesh, living in Bangladesh,  recently said "A politically conscious and articulate university campus is an integral feature of a strong civil society".  Question - where is the time to prepare and train themselves for building real "Strong Civil Society",  he is recommending our immature young students for on-the-job training to become  tools, stooges, and "boot lickers"  of our Corrupted political leaders and religious leaders (fanatics)

This perpetual corrupted leadership will continue, symptoms are already evident Ref. 1st page of www.akhonsamoy.com Jan 8-14 issue, What will be future politics of Bangladesh   under the young leadership of Mr. Tarek Rahman, Sajeeb Wajed Joy or Mahi B. Chowdhury respective descendants of  Family Dynasty; they will peep up when political field will remain unchallenged?
In contrast Nobel Laureate Mohammad Yunus deepened down or chickened out from politics by being threatened and declared as "Murtad" by fanatic Mullahs, though the Nobel Award Committee reasoned their selection that Mr. Yunus will act to counter " a widespread tendency to demonize Islam" (Ref. follows). Let us try to conscript/indite Dr. Yunus into politics to save us and our Bangladesh, write or redirect this letter to Dr. Yunus--  g_trust@grameen.com
(Ref.

Norwegian Nobel Committee chairman Ole Danbolt Mjoes said "By giving it to Mr Yunus, the group seeks to shine a spotlight not only on the fight against poverty but also on dialogue with the Muslim world and on empowering women. Microcredit has proved itself to be a liberating force in societies where women in particular have to struggle against repressive social and economic conditions," He also said,  "a widespread tendency to demonise Islam" has been seen since the September 11 terrorist attacks and the Nobel Committee wants to "narrow the gap between the west and Islam". )

2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus

The steps or movement we should take:
  • We can not pardon those convicted teachers, they should resign or be dismissed, let us raise our voice and email our demand to Dhaka University Vice Chancellor and (  feedback@ pmo.gov.bd  )  Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed, Chief Advisor, Care Taker Government, People's Republic of Bangladesh
  • Whatever donations or scholarship fund we provide as Alumni of our Al Mamaters, let us ask the universities, we are going to stop our donations unless your products are of international standards, and you provide us your students' achievements when we give you money every year
  • Always try and provide your own sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters to give good education in good schools,. colleges, and universities in Bangladedesh, or in India, or in any foreign country you can afford,  good education is our future, not blind support and patronization of our "Ox-Fort" in future
Regards.
Yours sincerely,
Golam F. Akhter

After reading the statement delivered at the court by The Learned PhD Teacher Mr. Anwar Hossain of Dhaka University is seemed that the administration of Dhaka University is totally inactive.
It is also proved by his statement that there is no good administration in the University.
!
Where there is no good active disciplined administration in the University & from where the people are getting degree certificates after coming in abroad their certificates are not honored by the University in abroad & their educational qualifications are treated as below standard.
The people graduated from the University of Bangladesh after coming in abroad are doing odd jobs such as taxi driving hotel boy city council cleaning works until & unless they get proper education from the education centre in abroad..
And after getting education from the university  they are doing in Bangladesh nonsense works such looting public money car breaking  trouble making disaster creating in the country etc as a result money of Banglade! sh is devaluing creating money inflation everything price hiking

Recalling his experience with political governments as a bureaucrat for 16 years, the former finance secretary said, "I can tell you there was never any such rise in food prices during the rules of political governments.

"The political leaders may be corrupt, they may be inefficient and bad, but they were very careful at least about this issue," he said.

On political reforms, he said negotiation is the only way to reach a consensus with the political parties on this. "Obviously political reform is needed but there is no permanent solution to fully reforming the political situation," Akbar said, adding that no country has a perfect political system.

[mukto-mona] Fwd. Afghan journalist's death sentence blamed on warlords -Guardian

Following this morning's BBC news posting and an article on Apostasy and Islam, here is one from Guardian.

Afghan journalist's death sentence blamed on warlords

· Real target is brother who revealed abuse scandals
· 23-year-old reporter denies mocking Islam

An Afghan reporter was sentenced to death for blasphemy by a court yesterday for allegedly questioning the prophet Muhammad's respect for women's rights.

The case has raised concerns over declining press freedom in Afghanistan and the growing power of militia commanders and ultra-conservative clerics.

Sayed Parwez Kaambakhsh, a 23-year-old reporter for the Jahan-e-Now daily, was tried behind closed doors and without a lawyer in the northern town of Mazar-i-Sharif after allegations by university classmates that he had mocked Islam and circulated an article that argued the prophet Muhammad had ignored the rights of women. Kaambakhsh denied writing the article, saying his name was added after it was printed, but he was found guilty.

Imposing the death sentence, the judge said Kaambakhsh would have the opportunity to appeal to three higher courts.

The Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR), which trains Afghan journalists and promotes independent reporting around the world, said the case against Kaambakhsh was a fabrication, motivated by a desire by warlords in northern Afghanistan to silence his brother, Sayed Yaqub Ibrahimi, also a journalist, who had written investigative reports exposing their abuse of human rights.

One story last October reported on the sexual abuse of "dancing boys" - teenage boys who dress as girls and are made to entertain the warlords and their guests at parties. Hafizullah Khaliqyar, a local prosecutor, was quoted as saying that the "catastrophic" practice was on the rise.

He said: "If the UN and the government don't take this issue as seriously as they do child-trafficking and drug smuggling, and punish the offenders, it's going to be almost impossible to prevent it."

Ibrahimi also exposed the terrorising of villages by warlords who have become increasingly assertive in the north. Kaambakhsh was arrested soon after the articles were published, according to Jean MacKenzie, IWPR director in Afghanistan. "This is an excuse to go after Yaqub," she said. "He no longer sleeps at home. He's being followed and he's being targeted."

MacKenzie said the harassment of Ibrahimi was being carried out by the national directorate for security. "In the north, it is clear evidence of the growing power of former commanders or warlords, who are working through religious fundamentalist mullahs, who are also growing in power."

Two journalists sentenced to death for blasphemy in recent years escaped from jail and were granted asylum in the west.

[ALOCHONA] RE: The fate of my 'razakar' poem

What exactly was NEGATIVE in the text of my poem? My poem may be "stupid" in your opinion, but please explain, even in your own ability to write English, why should it be taken as a FACT? Your opinion of my NEGATIVE ATTITUDE cannot be explained as a provable FACT. Your insistence on making Farida Majid feel ashamed is, similarly, driven by your irrational emotion.
The FACT is Bangladesh is a 'failed state' because of the Islamists like you have kept it in a constant state of flux with your tortures of innocent civilians, minority persecutions and religious divisions. If you care, please look up the Failed States Index 2007 published in the Foreign Policy magazine in the January 2008 issue. Check the 'Indicators of instability' and find out that Bangladesh is not as bad as many other failed states in other sectors but rank very high in the category of the problem of 'severe ethnic and religious divisions' that plague failed states.

Let us get REAL. Let us deal with FACTS. Show some POSITIVE effort on your part to face the reality instead of raving and ranting against people who care about and serve the humanity with humility and not hubris.

Hello everyone,
I try to avoid these kind of NEGATIVE discussion and dispute.. but I feel like I have given no other choice but to write a few words... English is basically my fourth language.. if Bangla could be considered as first there are two other other languages before I started learning English so I my not be able to express myself as comfortably as like someone who can write a poem in English or can teach in USA.. I am not sure how long she has been in USA, and how much she really knew about Bangladeshi dirty politics, however,  I feel obliged to ask a  few question to Farida Majid..

What would you like to achieve by this kind of NEGATIVE excuse my language if it is not considered as stupid poems.
We all understand, all Islamic parities were against Independence, and we all know they were wrong but, so did USA, shame on you Ms. Farida Majida, you don't feel ashamed to be a teacher in the heart and stomach or USA who also were against our independence and writing dirty poems agianst another friend of USA..

What did you guys achieve Ms. Farida Majid in last 35 years through all NEGATIVITY, and look at Jama'at what did they achieve.. Shame on you all, dont you feel ashamed of your continous NEGATIVE ATTITUDE.. shame.. is it that you are teaching to you student.. just how to be against someone..

Ms. Farida Majid and to whom it may concern, PLEASE, try to learn lesson from the reality.. Honestly speaking, sometime, I really do not understand, if you really have two eyes to see the facts, the reality... Shame...

Sincerely

You're messing up with your imaginary poetic overflowing ideas and trying to make your audience fool. We are so fed up listening to those garbage against razakars and to specify persons like Shah Hannan. We do not care the less what concerns you if that undermines the nation's PRIORITIES in 2008. Let the so-called self-proclaimed masquerading deshpremiks of time go to hell who have made the country a hell for us in pursuit of their personal and political gains after our hard-earned independence. You still blame Razakars and Hannans for lagging far behind countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, India etc after 36 years of bloody independence? We don't see the razakars and hannans are as dangerous as those self-proclaimed deshpremik thug politicians and morbid intellectuals are in 2008 and years to come. Please leave the country move forward and if you want to punish Razakars and Hannans, please take all legal actions possible whether locally or internationally as that's your prime mission but do not try to fish in mud any more for your vested interests - the interests that serve you and those around you rather than the nation. Al Qaeda or JMB might need a jihadist poet not a country like Bangladesh does. Best regards. Wohid

     Dear Alochok,

You have responded very well to the real message of my poem which was triggered by an act of a Razakar in Nov. 2007. Did the poem make you feel that you've been pushed back to 1971 against your will? If the answer is "yes" then that is my message:
All of Bangladesh is continuously and persistently being pushed back to 1971 by the Razakars and their activities. Please do not blame the messenger who bears the sad message of this sordid, regressive situation. It is not possible to make any progress with shackles around your ankles.. It is no use making any movement forward -- all forward movement is nullified by the unresolved issue of punishing the war criminals of 1971. This unresolved issue is a vile curse upon the House of Free Bangladesh.
We are all being held HOSTAGE by the logic of 1971 Genocide: "Let us mass murder those who oppose our desire to create an Empire of Islam EXACTLY according to our perception its formation."

Mr. S. A. Hannan just expressed this desire recently, yes, in 2008, as a spokesman for the Jammat in no uncertain terms.  The logic of 1971 Genocide is with us. Alive and kicking!

               Thanks.

                Farida Majid

The link says at the end, "Farida Majid teaches in the United States" and now we know exactly what the whole bunch you teach there.... Do you want us all to be your poetry class students???? We truly appreciate your poem that brings 71 all the way up to us nay the vice versa. Enough is enough. Can we now expect at least one more poem from you that will make us living in 2008 and forward-looking as well and if possible add some spices in it that will certainly attract foreign investment into Bangladesh and Bangladeshi politicians to honest, sincere and constructive thoughts and programs to pave the way to development and prosperity as opposed to the retrogressive undercurrent? We badly need that - we badly need another poem from you, pleaseeeee. Regards. Wohid

I thank all of you folks in this forum for your valuable comments on the early impromptu version of the poem.

The accompanying illustration is provided by the editor of the Literature page of the Daily Star. To what extent it resembles the apostrophe of my poem I cannot tell since I have never met him. But someone 'phoned to say that it bears a striking resemblance.

         Sincerely
