[vinnomot] Reuters :Same mission in Bangladesh and Mouritania? to Blame Muslims n spreding Al Qaida phobia?

Rioters :same mission in Bangladesh and Mauritania? to Blame Muslims n spreading Al Qaida phobia
dear all.
I was reading a  Reuters report about  recent bomb blast /attack in Mauritania .In this long report it seems that they want to prove that it is done by so called al qida and alqaida exist in  Mauritania.Even the report mention that number of mosque has increased in few times there.
Few years ago Reuters report about Mymensingh Cinema hall blast. they wrongly quote out home minister that may be alqaida was behind it.our home minister denied. Then Reuters was compelled to seek apology for miss quating our home minister.
Do they do it all over the world? to pave the the path of aggression in Muslim countries?

[vinnomot] Education City is the need of the time

Education City is the need of the time
The most important way to earn for Bangladesh in the short-term is her human resources. What better way to to improve that wealth but a specialized education city?

Bangladesh University Grants commission should initiate a process to build an education city - primarily focused on technical education and business education. There should be two layer in this city.

One layer should be focused on four year bachelor programs, masters program, phd programs.

Second layer should be focused on trade education which will take HSC graduates and create skilled labour within two years.

UGC should build this Education city should be built in the similar way different economic zones are being created. Once the basic infrastructure are built, different private universities will be encourged to lease or buy the land within this education city. Financial organizations, Banks should use their huge idle money to invest in these infrastructure. Prime locations within this education city can be auctioned to interested parties.

Also, all foreign registered educational institutions should be forced to move to the enclave. This should be made mandatory so that their quality can be observed and maintained easily.

For a sample example, please take a look at this. (http://www.qf.org.qa/output/page301.asp) This link points to the Education City project in Qatar, the home of Al-Jazeera. Many of the famous universities from around the world, including those from USA, are opening their campus. Here are some excerpts:

"Qatar Foundation is headquartered in a unique Education City, a 2,500-acre campus on the outskirts of Doha which hosts branch campuses of some of the world's leading universities, as well as numerous other educational and research institutions.

Supported by abundant residential and recreational facilities, Education City is envisioned as a community of institutions that serve the whole citizen, from early childhood education to post-graduate study. Moreover, Education City is envisioned as a hub for the generation of new knowledge -- a place that provides researchers with world-class facilities, a pool of well-trained graduates, the chance to collaborate with likeminded people and the opportunity to transfer ideas into real-world applications.

Qatar Foundation¹s mission is to prepare the people of Qatar and the region to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world, and to make Qatar a leader in innovative education and research.

To achieve that mission, Qatar Foundation supports network of centers and partnerships with elite institutions, all committed to the principle that a nation¹s greatest natural resource is its people. Education City, Qatar Foundation¹s flagship project, is envisioned as a center of excellence in education and research that will help transform Qatar into a knowledge-based society."

http://www.qf.edu.qa/files/images/clear.gif
Given the circumstances in Bangladesh, a good location for the first education city will be somewhere along the Dhaka-Chittagong corridor. Similar zones can also be replicated in other regions - one in each division at proper locations.

Private mutual funds can be raised, if the government provides the required legal framework. Interested development partners, who already contribute in our education budget in a significant way, they can also participate in supporting this fundraising for the Education City Projects.

If you thought some of the ideas are worth of your reading time, please forward it to others. If you have an ear to the columinsts in regular traditional media, please forward it to them. If you have an ear to the journalists and news editors of the electronic media, discuss it with them. Hope they would look at the suggestions and give due diligence.

Thanks for your time,
Innovation Line

Dear readers, also, if you thought the article was important enough so it should come under attention of the head of the government please forward the message to them. Email address for the Chief Advisor: feeedback@pmo.gov.bd or at http://www.cao.gov.bd/feedback/comments.php . The more of you forward it to them, the less will be the need to go back to street agitation. Use ICT to practice democracy. It is already proven that this government responds to the feedback.

[ALOCHONA] Bangladesh beach, forest, top natural wonders list

Bangladesh beach, forest, top natural wonders list

Bangladesh may have been beset by food shortages and floods, but locals are taking heart as two of its natural wonders top a new list of the world's most amazing scenery.
Southeastern Cox's Bazar beach -- believed by many to be the world's longest natural sandy stretch -- beat out 200 other nominations to top an online public poll for the globe's "New 7 Wonders of Nature".

The country's southwestern Sundarbans forest, home to the endangered Royal Bengal tiger and the world's largest mangrove forest, is number two in the competition that has drawn more than 100 million votes from around the world.

Bringing such hidden treasures to global attention is part of the goal of
"New7Wonders" (www.new7wonders.com), a Switzerland-based nonprofit, said Founder and President Bernard Weber.

"So many breathtakingly beautiful, natural places are still quite unknown to many," Weber said when he announced the shortlist of 77 contenders for the top seven.
"We are discovering together the incredible beauty and variety of our planet."
Cox's Bazaar locals now hope the 120 km unbroken stretch of sand that lies 400km (250 miles) south of the capital Dhaka will make it into the record books by 2010, when a winner is chosen.

While an accolade will be nice, tourism will be the real winner, said army officer Lieutenant Colonel Anisur Rahman, who is involved in one of at least 15 beautification projects currently underway in Cox's Bazaar.

Building an 80km long Marine Drive road, which will snake alongside the seashore giving views of the beach, Rahman said the developments would allow more people to visit.
"We are developing this road and we are developing the seashore so that tourists can be attracted," the Lieutenant Colonel said.

Made up of a chain of sandy hills that run parallel to the waters of the Bay of Bengal, the beach's towering cliffs and colorful ancient pagodas and Hindu temples draw thousands of visitors.Warm shark-free waters, waterfalls, a game park, tribal villages and a coral island in nearby Saint Martin add to its charm.

Visitors who have already discovered the sands rave about its beauty."I think this Cox's Bazaar is a very natural sight, so as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, I think this has a good opportunity," said one tourist, who gave the name of Jennifer.

[mukto-mona] Mezbah Jowher is suggesting this article from Arab News

Hello,

Dear All, Please read the report of Arab News against Bangladeshis working in KSA. It is most unethical that a whole nation is going to be punished for crimes done by few. We must send protest notes against this injustice. Please read & try to write something to the newspaper if you could make time. Mezbah
Mezbah Jowher is suggesting the following article from http://www.arabnews.com:

Calls Mount for Ban on Bangladeshis
Razan Baker, Arab News

JEDDAH - In an attempt to stop recruiting Bangladeshis to work in the country, a group of Saudis launched a website titled, "No to Corruption" at www.antirat.com. The Arabic website attracted more than 80,000 hits in two weeks.

Labor Minister Ghazi Al-Gosaibi said during a closed-door Shoura Council session on Sunday that his ministry was working hard to decrease the number of Bangladeshi workers in Saudi Arabia. He said it is very important to identify the places where these foreign workers reside in the country. His ministry, he added, are employing an additional 50 members annually to inspect on workers who are staying illegally.

The three owners of the website preferred to stay anonymous in fear of any negative reaction from the Bangladeshis. The reason behind launching this website, one of them told Arab News, is the increase of crimes committed by Bangladeshis, as seen in newspaper reports.

"Out of concern and love for our nation we adopted this idea and launched it on Jan. 25, 2008, with wishes that the government would listen to us," said their spokesman. "We do not expect Saudi authorities to stop issuing them visas soon, but we hope a serious decision would be implemented in the near future to limit their illegal activities here."

Meanwhile, the spokesman said they have already received threats through written letters for launching this website.

He says Saudi immigration authorities should ban Bangladeshis from entering the Kingdom, or put serious restrictions on those who lose their passports, and that they should be fingerprinted in case they try to re-enter on fake passports.

When asked if it was fair to ban them all, he said, "The majority is involved in corruption due to their low level of education and barbaric ways."

He said there are "other nationalities we could benefit from."

The website has a poll on it asking participants the best way to stop crimes committed by Bangladeshis. The majority (87.9 percent) answered that Bangladeshis should be barred entry to the Kingdom, and that all communication should be stopped with them. About 10 percent said the government should impose strict measures to regulate Bangladeshis in the Kingdom.

The website includes articles published in different local newspapers citing crimes committed by Bangladeshi workers in Saudi Arabia.

According to an article in Al-Jazirah newspaper, a source had informed the reporter that Bangladeshi nationals in the country committed the highest number of crimes reaching 7,971 cases. The newspaper didn't provide the source for this statistics, any context by which to compare this number to others, nor is it clear about the timeframe or location from where this number is drawn.

Another example was a recent article taken from Al-Riyadh newspaper where the police seized 300 counterfeit passports, visas and work permits that were ready to be sold.

In addition to counterfeiting, stories of rape and sexually abusing children were also included.

One such report was about an incident in November last year when a Bangladeshi worker in Jubail tricked an eight-year-old girl and took her to a building where he sexually abused her.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior said in May 2007 that a decision to suspend the recruitment of Bangladeshi workers to Kuwait was taken because crimes committed by this section of the community have been steadily increasing, according to Al-Rai Al-Aam newspaper.

Ikramul Haque, Bangladeshi Ambassador in Riyadh, told Arab News the relationship between the two Muslim countries continues to be strong. "We offer orientation to Bangladeshis before they come to Saudi Arabia to ensure that they follow its rules and regulations," he said.

"We support the Saudi government and will continue to do so" in its efforts to ensure security and peace in the country.

S.M. Haroon, the Bangladeshi labor counselor in Riyadh, explained to Arab News that many Bangladeshis seek employment in the Kingdom regardless of the low salaries only to get a lifetime chance to pray in the holy mosques.

"It is a win-win situation where Saudi employers find cost effective human capital for their development projects while Bangladeshis find employment opportunities," he said.

He added they have full respect for the Saudi laws, rules and regulations, customs, traditions and judicial system. "We feel that it would be unjust and unfair to blame the entire community for the offenses committed by a few."
