[mukto-mona] V.R.Krishna Iyer : Socialism is no historic blunder

Dear friends,

Please find an article by Justice V.R.Krishna Iyer for your information.

Regards,

Dhirendra panda

Socialism is no historic blunder
By V.R. Krishna Iyer

Socialists of India, unite! You have nothing to lose except a few
crypto-capitalist super-pragmatic Marxists. You have a creative
crimson destiny to gain and a billion-strong have-not humanity to win.
Why then, do you, comrades of Marxian vintage, hug capitalist
sorceries? With a plethora of Socialists, Communists, Marxists willing
to join the long march to "Purna Swaraj," our democratic republic can
become self-reliant without alien investment. But this prospect is
being debased by tycoons, "Westoxicated" investment-operators and
nascent neo-Marxist innovators who have surrendered to consumerism. A
dangerous class has thus emerged with the dominant doctrine that money
is more than man. The dazzle of globalisation, liberalisation,
privatisation matters more to them than the rights of women, children,
workers and peasants.

Our culture of Swaraj puts humanity above commodity, sober,
enlightened values above greedy glamour. Gandhiji once wrote, "In so
far as we have made modern materialistic craze our goal, so far are we
going downhill in the path of progress."

The hidden agenda of the capitalist North is to capture the resources
of India, debunk its socialistic ambition and turn it into a mere
marketplace and banana republic. The founding fathers of our
Constitution had on the other hand envisioned an economic democracy, a
socialistic polity, a people's sovereignty.

My critique of the Marxist policy-novelty has to be viewed in this
background. The CPI(M), which wields state power, participates in
elections, sits in the House and tells its cadre to work for a
socialist transformation, is destroying its own foundational
militancy. India's human capital can outstrip the monetary investments
by the capitalist class which wants to rob labour from the jobless
have-nots and the deprived sectors. We want radical humanism and
revolutionary patriotism to pool all available talent and bring about
a social change for the happiness of the lowliest. Imperialism and
unbridled foreign investment have undermined the lot of our poor,
devalued our Constitution and sapped the very soul of our Swaraj. It
is a mistake to think that socialist transformation is an idle dream,
and that MNC big business is the only pragmatic strategy without an
alternative.

Kerala and West Bengal have had Marxist governments for decades.
Capitalists, native and foreign, have had considerable hold over our
national economy; and for nearly 20 years the American pressure on our
country's governance has pulverised our noble traditions and social
grace. No serious socialist policy has been tried by any state. My
experience as minister, under E.M.S. Namboodiripad in 1957, convinced
me that people, whichever their party (or even if they do not belong
to any party), NGOs and bureaucrats are willing to toil free for
community development. Speaking generally, since 1991, the national
economy has been noxiously contra-Constitutional and anti-people. On
this, let me quote Shashi Tharoor: "India annually gets richer by $200
billion. India's foreign resources have exceeded $140 billion.
Remember, the country had to mortgage its gold in London because the
foreign exchange coffers were dry! In the list of the world's
billionaires, 27 of the world's richest people are Indian, most of
them staying in India. A large portion of the world's poorest people
live in India too and you don't need to go to Davos to meet them. Our
country's poor live below a poverty line that seems to be drawn just
this side of the funeral pyre. 250 million people living in conditions
that are a blot on our individual collective conscience is too grave a
matter to be lightly dismissed (The Tiger Elephant, the Tiger and the
Cellphone, P-6)

I was taken aback when Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, reportedly successful
as West Bengal chief minister, declared that he was running a
capitalist government. He thus ignored the fact that rural West Bengal
had developed as a great paradigm with people's participation and
socialistic perspective that were far removed from a feudal society.
And I was stunned when the great Jyoti Basu " the Marxist leader who
for long had inspired his people and many like me by his leftist,
simple genius " strangely reversed gear, jettisoned his party
fundamentals and abandoned socialism as impractical. The Indian
Constitution always had a socialist bias and the Planning Commission
had been set up to work out a socialistic pattern of society. Banks
were nationalised, big hydel and irrigation schemes were set up, land
reforms and urban land ceiling laws were enacted, public sector
industries were built. These were not capitalistic moves, but
socialistic.

After all, Nehru, in the Constituent Assembly had asserted, "We have
given the content of democracy in this Resolution and not only the
content of democracy but the content, if I may say so, of economic
democracy. Well, I stand for Socialism, I hope, India will stand for
Socialism and that India will go towards the constitution of a
Socialist State."

Many parties and Parliaments have governed the country. The words "We,
the People of India" and "Socialist Secular Democratic" have survived
all these years. Every President or minister ever in power, or judge
on the bench has taken his or her oath of office pledging to uphold
those very words of the Constitution which sustain our Republic. Jyoti
Basu and Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee took office after taking the oath to
uphold this "Socialist Secular Democratic" state. How can they now
betray it after gaining state power? It was perhaps anticipating such
future deserters, that Karl Marx in his letter to Engels had written:
"All I know is that I am not a Marxist."

Please remember the Marxian mandate: "The philosophers have only
interpreted the world in various ways; the point is to change it."

The only hope the Indian masses have is the socio-economic freedom
from feudal-colonial submissiveness. Will the Marxists renege on this?

I am aware that a crimson economy will not be born tomorrow.

But I am equally aware that a powerful cooperative movement, a
large-scale public sector, a just land ownership with limited ceiling,
a nationalisation policy, workers' organised farm policy and
industrial-marketing economy can today become a reality, given the
will and the vision.

Do you have faith in people's participation? I have. Corruption has
ruined Indian politics. The capitalist alternative is
industrialisation, mafia menace, market racket, hospital terrorism,
hotel "star wars," slum slavery and freebooter robbery.

Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer is a former judge of the Supreme Court

[mukto-mona] Re: The ultimate litmus test for freethinkers a la N.N. Sarker

WRT: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto-mona/message/46836

Dear Mr. Sarker:

Your unbridled remarks concerning who is a freethinker and who is not
needed a strong rebuttal and that is all I did. Did anyone goad you
to write that piece? If the answer is negative, then you should have
thought twice about the consequence of making such simple-minded
assertions.

In this forum I am not canvassing for Senator Barack Obama. I am not
mad at anyone if they do not support Senator Obama's candidacy. I
could speak my mind and that is all I was doing. I never equated the
lack of support for Obama as affront to freethinking. You are the
one who made that connection. Needless to say, I was awestruck
reading your concoctions through your post. If you find any factual
error in my write-ups, please by all means let the forum members
know.

I was appalled reading your introductory lines, which went like these:
"Your responses in this thread are unpleasant, uncalled for and
childish as well. You have a passion of getting pleasure by offending
others who differ in opinions with yours. The Internet is the
witness since its inception."

Aren't you becoming a bit personal? Your crass deshi mentality shows
up a big time through your malevolent write-up. Perhaps you lack
what the civilized world calls savior-faire. Don't get me wrong.
Everyone has all the privileges of penning a rejoinder but one should
not use crassitude to make his or her point. A civil discourse is
what is badly needed here. Is it possible for you to go after the
arguments rather than going after the scribe? Or is it too much to
ask for?

Sincerely,

A.H. Jaffor Ullah

Re: [mukto-mona] Re: Please publish

IRT: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto- mona/message/46824

  • Avijit's response to the second para of my e-mail is well taken.
  • His response to the third para needs elaborate discussions. I did not ask if Marxism is scientific or not. My question was whether Marx's system of thoughts (let's call it Marxism) is a product of rational thinking or not. A rational thinking process may or may not lead to a scientific theory. We need to keep in mind one more thing: a social, political, or an economic science (they all have received academic recognition) cannot be defined in same way as a natural (physical, biological, etc.) science is defined. Marxism (enriched by Engels and others) is a comprehensive system of thoughts that not only interprets but also prescribes transformation processes with a view to enhancing social, economic, and political lives of the members of the society (de-classed one.) Marxist theories may be wrong and we may not like to call it a science even using the definition of a social, economic, or political science, but one can hardly deny that they were arrived at using a rationalistic approach.
  • One fanatic view held by Marxists and Marxians is that Marxism is "the end of history" which means that Marxism will never evolve into (or be replaced by) a better system. All the notorious communist dictators availed this fanatic view as one of the tools to justify and consolidate their power for an unlimited period. It's long story. The bottom line is that Marxism was not revealed to the Marxist theorists from heaven as it "happened" in case of great religions.
  • With regard to Avijit's response to para 4 of my e-mail, my only response can be: Avijit has misread me. I have never equated secularists with Jamaatis. But, yes, I see faults in a secularist and an atheist too. How can they be fault free? Are they not human beings? How can a person with 40 years' history of atheism and secularist views speak ills of atheists and secularists?

[mukto-mona] Re: Moral Policing: Orissa State Women Commission raids ‘love-criminals’

WRT: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto-mona/message/46832

This is a very disturbing trend that rather thn catching eve tesears on the
roads nd making it safer for the women of the city the OSWC has rather made
it more dangerous for them by stigmatising the most healthy way of people to
build relationships. This needs to be condemned at a bigger platform and
people like Namita Panda should be made aware of the reprecussions of moral
policing.

Re: [mukto-mona] RSS mobilse Foreign Funding for Communal Riots

WRT: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto-mona/message/46789

Beware of the reports gathered by UK based organisations. These organisations are funded by christian missionaries for propaganda purposes in the third world countries. Even KGB agent Mitrokhin had reported that during communist era KGB had funded around 5000 propaganda news items and articles in the Indian press. Take such UK / USA inspired news items and reports with a big pinch of salt.

[vinnomot] Conversation with God

Soumen Sengupta <soumen13@yahoo.ca> wrote:

Conversation between God & Me

God : Hello. Did you call me?

Me: Called you? No.. Who is this?

God : This is GOD. I heard your prayers. So I thought I will chat.

Me:
I do pray. Just makes me feel good. I am actually busy now. I am in
the midst of something.

God : What are you busy at? Ants are busy too.

Me: Don't know. But I cant find free time. Life has become hectic. It's rush hour all the time.

God :
Sure. Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you results.
Activity consumes time. Productivity frees it.

Me:
I understand. But I still can't figure out. By the way, I was not
expecting YOU to buzz me on instant messaging chat.

God :
Well I wanted to resolve your! Fight for time, by giving you some
clarity. In this net era, I wanted to reach you through the medium
you are comfortable with.

Me: Tell me, why has life become complicated now?

God :
Stop analyzing life. Just live it. Analysis is what makes it
complicated.

Me: why are we then constantly unhappy?

God :
Your today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. You
are worrying because you are analyzing. Worrying has become your
habit. That's why you are not happy.

Me: But how can we not worry when there is so much uncertainty?

God : Uncertainty is inevitable, but worrying is optional.

Me: But then, there is so much pain due to uncertainty.

God : Pain is inevitable able, but suffering is optional.

Me: If suffering is optional, why do good people always suffer?

God : Diamond cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified
without fire. Good people go through trials, but don't suffer. With that
experience their life become better not bitter.

Me: You mean to say such experience is useful?

God :
Yes. In every terms, Experience is a hard teacher . She gives the
test first and the lessons afterwards.

Me:
But still, why should we go through such tests? Why cant we be free
from problems?

God : Problems are Purposeful Roadblocks Offering Beneficial Lessons (to) Enhance Mental Strength. Inner strength comes from struggle and endurance, not when you! Are free from problems.

Me:
Frankly in the midst of so many problems, we don't know where we
are heading.

God :
If you look outside you will not know where you are heading.Look
inside. Looking outside, you dream. Looking inside, you awaken.
Eyes provide sight. Heart provides insight.

Me: Sometimes not succeeding fast seems to hurt more than moving in the right direction. What should I do?

God :
Success is a measure as decided by others. Satisfaction is a
measure as decided by you. Knowing the road ahead is more
satisfying than knowing you rode ahead. You work with the compass.
Let others work with the clock.

Me: In tough times, how do you stay motivated?

God : Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go. Always count your blessing, not what you are missing. [/color]

Me: What surprises you about people?

God :
when they suffer they ask, "why me?" When they prosper, they
never ask "Why me" Everyone wishes to have truth on their side, but
few want to be on the side of the truth.

Me: Sometimes I ask, who am I, why am I here. I cant get the answer

God : Seek not to find who you are, but to determine who you want to be. Stop looking for a purpose as to why you are here. Create it. Life is not a process of discovery but a process of creation.

Me: How can I get the best out of life?

God : Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear.

Me: One last question. Sometimes I feel my prayers are not answered.

God : There are no unanswered prayers. At times the answer is NO.

Me: Thank you for this wonderful chat.
God : Well. Keep the faith and drop the fear . Don't believe your doubts and doubt your beliefs. Life is a mystery to solve not a problem to resolve. Trust me. Life is wonderful if you know how to live. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that took our breath away!

[mukto-mona] Manage disability before it happens

Dear Editor,

Hope you are doing well and thanks for publishing my previous write-ups

This is an article about "Manage disability before it happens". I will be highly honoured if you publish this article. I apprecite your time to read this article.

Thanks

Have a nice time

With Best Regards

Ripan Kumar Biswas
New York, U.S.A
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Manage disability before it happens

Ripan Kumar Biswas

While Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed  was inaugurating the third general assembly and conference of Asia and Pacific Disability Forum (APDF) at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre on February 27, 2008, jointly organized by National Forum of Organizations Working with the Disabled (NFOWD) and APDF, joint correspondent Bob Simon of Discovery Channel was unveiling how the ships are literally dumped with all their steel, their asbestos, and their toxins on the beaches of poor countries like Bangladesh, which cause disability very often.

Dirty Jobs is a popular program throughout the world on the Discovery Channel in which host Mike Rowe is shown performing difficult, strange, and/or messy occupational duties alongside professional workers. The 60 minutes regular episode of Dirty Jobs on February 27, 2008 under the tile "Ship Breakers: The dirtiest job," was horrified to watch at the thought of being disable for the ship breakers' involvement in deadly works.

Persons with disabilities, local and foreign delegates, NGO leaders and distinguished personalities, who were present at the function of APDF, firmly urged that the steps should be taken on an urgent basis, including revising the rules of business of the government, to cater to the needs of disabled persons while the legal experts, policymakers, development practitioners and disability activists need to initiate the process of consultation with stakeholders on those issues. "The foremost challenge for all of us at the moment is strong social and political commitment to the subject backed by administrative and legislative measures," Fakhruddin vowed.

No doubt that the problems faced by the physically handicapped in the world along with Bangladesh ought to have been tackled decisively a long time ago. Disabled persons, whatever the origin, nature and seriousness of their handicaps and disabilities, have the same fundamental rights as their fellow-citizens of the same age, which implies first and foremost the right to enjoy a decent life, as normal and full as possible.

In 1975, the "Declaration on the Rights of Disabled Persons" was adopted by the UN General Assembly (Resolution 3447), aimed at ensuring the protection of rights of disabled persons and assisting disabled persons to develop their abilities in the most varied fields of activities and promoting their integration in normal life. In most countries up to 80% of persons with disabilities of working age are unemployed. Most others are under-employed or never have access to the labor market. The governments, the community and disabled persons themselves should have to initiate and formulate ways that allow persons with disabilities to participate fully in the daily life.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 750 million people in the world are disabled in where 80% people live in developing countries and this percentage is increasing day by day.

Besides inherited disability, many factors are responsible for the rising number of disabled persons and the relegation of disabled persons to the margin of society. These include: wars, and the consequences of wars and other forms of violence and destruction (poverty, hunger, epidemics, major shifts in population); populations with a high proportion of illiteracy and little awareness of basic social services or of health and education measures; low priority in social and economic development for activities related to equalization of opportunities, disability prevention and rehabilitation; pollution of the physical environment; stress and other psycho- social problems associated with the transition from a traditional to a modern society; imprudent use of medication, the misuse of therapeutic substances and the illicit use of drugs and stimulants; and the faulty treatment of injured persons at the time of a disaster. Among them, one of the permanent disabilities comes from the work related accidents.

Although it's not new to discuss how the ship breaking or ship demolition is resulting disability, but Bob Simon moved his camera in the shipyards of Chittagong, Bangladesh to let everybody knows the most dangerous workplace in the world that causes disability and casualty very often and the respective authority is hardly aware of this important issue.

During ship scrapping activities, the removal, and disposal of asbestos is a primary environmental concern, as well as a health and safety concern for workers. The most significant asbestos concerns for workers arise when removing asbestos-bearing thermal insulation; handling of circuit breakers, cable, cable penetrations; and removing floor tiles (from asbestos in the mastic and in the tile). Some known diseases caused from asbestos exposure include: (1) asbestosis (scarring of the lungs resulting in loss of lung function that often progresses to disability and to death), and (2) cancer, such as mesothelioma (cancer affecting the membranes lining the lungs and abdomen), lung cancer, or cancers of the esophagus, stomach, colon, and rectum.

A study estimates that the one out of every four laborers in shipyards is likely to contract cancer owing to workplace poisons, but the laborers are of course blissfully unaware of the hazards. Lack of awareness about pollution coupled with the need to earn a living means that despite many accidents people continue to work in ship-breaking yards. Laborers in the ship-breaking industry risk life and limb on a daily basis, but in the absence of employment in their villages' people continue to migrate to the shipyards.

Until the late twentieth century, ship breaking took place in port cities in the developed countries including the United States. But now, most ship breaking yards are in the developing nations, principally Bangladesh, China, and India, due to lower costs and less stringent environmental regulations dealing with the disposal of lead paint and other toxic substances.

Scrapping operations involve high risks and problems. The unskilled workers carry metal plates, metal bars or pipes on their heads or shoulders, start walking in synchronized steps with the rhythm of the singers call up to a definite destination and then pile up metal plates in stacks yards or load them on trucks. It is found that the beaches where ship breaking is undertaken are full of chemicals and toxic substances, small pieces of pointed and sharp iron splinters pasted on the surface of the beach causing injuries; the workers usually work bare footed and without masks.

In Bangladesh, ship breaking is carried out in an open space. As a matter of fact, provisions of the Factories Act and occupational safety measures with regard to doors, windows, stairs etc. of a factory premises are not taken into consideration. No one cares testing system of cranes, lifting machinery and motorized pulley is hardly done. The yards re-use ropes and chains recovered from the broken ships without testing and examining their strength. Gas cutters and their helpers are cutting the steel plates almost round the clock without protection of eyes, so their eyes are always vulnerable to welding effects. Workers do not wear any uniform and never use hand gloves and boots as safety measures.

Payments are very often found less than the agreed wages. The Syndicate of Employers and of the ship yards control everything in such a way that the inspecting officers of different Government Agencies cannot interfere in their activities. In addition families of the victims are not informed, as contractors do not use proper names and addresses of the workers and there is no monitoring or inspection by the Inspection Department and the Labour Department. And the most horrific thing in these scrap-shipyards is the presence of child workers. According to Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS), there are about 2000 children and adolescents (between the ages of 10 and 14) out of 30 thousand works in these yards.

It is praiseworthy as the government of Bangladesh has approved restructuring of national Foundation for Development of Disabled Persons as a quasi-government, autonomous institution to ensure that elimination is met for discrimination of disabled people and to promote equal opportunities and for them to also assist and give advice on how to treat disabled people, and to advise the government on the legislation of disability, but the best way to manage a disability is before it happens.

4. Conquering lands (or countries) of Infidels

 a) Allah gradually reduces the land under the control of the unbelievers from its outlying borders...13:41
Ibn Kathir writes that this verse refers to Muslims gaining the upper hand over idolaters. If we though that Allah is merciful to the Christians and the Jews, we are wrong. The Qur'an treats the Jews and the Christians as idolaters.
Islamic freedom of expression means the right to call the infidels dogs and beasts.
c) "Those who reject faith (non Muslims) are like panting dogs; preaching to them is a waste of time…" 7:176 Qoraan.
d) "Those who reject the Qur'an, wrong themselves; they are evils" (their example is that of a dog—ibn Abbas)…7:177 Qoraan.
e) "The unbelievers are the worst beasts (or worst animals) in the eyes of Allah…" 8:55 Qoraan.

5. Wife Beatings

a) Quran 4:34 Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) BEAT THEM; but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all).

b) Quran 2:223: Your women are a tilth for you (to cultivate). So go to your tilth as ye will...

(Al Hadis, Vol. 1, p. 215) Omar reported from the Holy Prophet who said, "No man shall be questioned for beating his wife." In the very next Hadith a woman complained to Mohammed that her husband beat her while she prayed. Mohammed told her to change her time of prayer or pray shorter prayers so that her husband could get on with the joy of beating her. (Reported by Abu Sayeed al-Kodri, Attest by Abu Daud)

(Al Hadis, Vol. 4, p. 172, No. 34) Ali reported that the Apostle of Allah said, "There is in Paradise a market wherein there will be no buying or selling, but will consist of men and women. When a man desires a beauty, he will have intercourse with them."

c) Quran 9:5 "Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolators wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful."

placed first near Imam and then women". Abu Dawud Chapter 1185 , Hadith Number 3187.

6. Money Extortion from Non Moslims in Moslim Lands called 'Jiziyah'

Quran 9:29 Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last day, nor hold the forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and his messenger, nor acknowledge the Religion of Truth from among the People of the Book, until they pay the Protection Money with willing submission. And feel themselves subdued.

My Nieces didn't like mention of Houris more than a dozen times in Qoraan either. They thought it was too embarrassing. I had won 2nd Prize in an all Pakistan Essay Contest, when Bangladesh used to be East Pakistan. That Contest was for Kids under 14 and I was 13 at that time.

As a good Essay Writer at a young age, when I finished Qoraan, I had serious doubts, it was written by Allah almighty because there were too many repetitions in it, too many embarrassing Verses and other problems. I thought, not on that subject, but I could write a better book than Qoraan. Then, I was told, "Don't read it as a book genius. Read it as compilation of Essays and Articles for Bedouin Savages of 7th Century because that's what it is".

I think, verses mentioning the following should be taken out of Qoraan:

1. Slavery.
2. Voluptuous Hooris (because it doesn't explain, what would women get if they die fighting against Infidels. Would they be getting big Muscular Black African Studs since men are getting White Hooris?)
3. Killing of Infidels or JehaaD.
4. Conquering lands (or countries) of Infidels (because its not practical anymore).
5. Wife Beatings.
6. Protection Money from Non Moslims in Moslim Lands called 'Jiziyah' now but clearly mentioned as Protection Money in Qoraan.

The Pakistani Boss of a Foreign Airline had said in his published interview, "14 Secret and Non Secret Agencies and Departments extort Protection Money in shape of 2 round trip Airline Tickets to anywhere in the world every year or want equvalent amount in cash but still my offices are being robbed and I have no Protection. I had even hired the Armed Security Guards of a company that is owned by a retired General. My Airline Crew is harrassed at the Airport. They have been robbed and Female Flight Attendents have been Gang Raped in their Hotel Rooms and it never got to be published in Pakistani Newspapers". He was promptly assassinated after issuing this statement. Allaho Akbar ...!
All Enemies of Fort of Islam, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan deserve that.

Later, all major Foreign Airlines had stopped flying to Pakistan and had closed down their offices after Pakistan had rejected the complaint that a few times Medium Range Missiles were being test-fired or just fired too close to their Airliners in flight. Pakistan had claimed it never happened. I don't think, still you can fly to Pakistan on a major Airline of the world.

West is being accused by Moslims of spreading false propaganda against Moslims continousely but all this was never put in Western Media. Sure, because all of this was lies anyway. Allaho Akbar ...! ... We won ...!  ... Allah is behind us. Death to Enemies of Islam, who stop us from collecting Protection Money mentioned in Qoraan from them by closing-down their Businesses in Fort of Islam, Islamic Republic of Pakistan and ending our Gang-Raping of their Flight Attendent Slut daughters ...!

Problem is will any mullahs or real muslims, I mean those fanatic terrorists agree with this idea? Besides, what they are going to do when these Islamic critics start pointing their fingers to Koran also? What we are going to do with all the hundreds of hateful and kaffir killing verses and verses that permits sex with slave girls etc?

It is high time to review and correct all ahadith in order to put Allah's vision and purpose of creation of this universe into right direction

A very good move in the right direction to reform, revise and reprint the whole ahadith structure since most of the ahadith already contaminated with various fabrication and corruption, definitely introduced or injected by anti islam elements to keep us away from Quranic guidance, delivered to all human beings by ALLAH, the supreme commander of this universe, thro' His Messenger (saw) and it is the most safe and protected book.

BUT while doing so one has to be very carefull in handling this issue so that further recurrences of mistakes, what existing right now should not be prevailed at all. Any hadith or ahadith contradicting with Quran should be treated as rubbish so the formula is very clear any hadith or ahadith should go in line with Quran not against it.

It is also suggested to invite high caliber scholars and personalities and offcourse scientist the knowers of nature as proclaimed by one of the greatest scholar, scientist, reformer of 20th century Hazrath Allama Mashriqi. Please read the following articles with due care and attention and I hope it will definitely give light to the ahadith reformers.
MAN TO DEVELOP AS ONE NATION
By (Late) Allama Mashriqi
(This article appeared as a Foreword to a book on Islamic Jurisprudence, published in early 1954)

The law of the Quran in the capacity of Divine Message to Mankind is perfectly universal and applicable to all nations. It knows no racial, geographical or religious bounds as it applies to the whole of Human species. How do Human nations rise to power and through what delinquency in their efforts they fall and are wiped out of the face of the earthâ€"this as a matter of fact is the essence of a part of the whole teaching of the Quran. "Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian rather he was a downright acceptor of commands: (hanifan Musliman) (3:67) Shows that the Quran does not accept the theory of Prophets having come down on earth for the purpose of instituting 'religions' or sects, nor did they come to divide man. "Human beings are one people" and "for this very purpose, God created them." (wa li zalika khalaqahum) (11:119) Show that the intention of nature is to make Man develop as One Nation, in fact develop in exactly the same way
as millions of other species of lower beings have evolved into higher beings. "God made the Prophets appear (on earth) as Givers of Good News (of becoming stable and powerful) and deliverers of Bad news (of destruction and national fall): (Mubashirin wa Munzirin) (2:213), but "Human beings, through revolt among themselves cut themselves up into pieces even after this (superb) knowledge came to them (through Prophets)." (3:19) Thus Quran is radically against Man being split up into sections on religious, racial, geographical or any other basis. "Those who differentiate between the various Prophets and say we believe in some and disbelieve in others are TRUE INFIDELS." (4:151) Is the final verdict of the Quran with respect to the attitude of Man towards his fellow-beings. At other places the Quran declares: "We sent our Prophets to every Nation, every colony and every people." (13:7) etc., and the expression "true infidels" is not used
elsewhere in the whole of the Quran. "We created you out of one father and one mother and made you groups and families in order that you may recognise each other; only they are the most honored (with Us) amongst you who are most mindful (of the law of God)." (49:13) This is the position of Man according to the Quran and that is why the Quran is called "a warning to all the Worlds (Zikrun lil alameen)" (12:104) and the Prophet is styled: "a blessing to all the Worlds" (Rahmat ul lilalameen) (21:107).

Under these premises of the Quran it is absurd to think that the Quran or the Prophet of Islam created a sect of 'Muhammadans' like what Jews and Christians are in this world. The Quran was to be a code of law for the whole world in order to guide it to its ultimate destiny, and that destiny was to develop the whole human race as one nation to higher evolution. That is why the Quran said: "I swear by the moon as it gradually gets complete that you human beings are bound to rise from one plane (of creation) to another (tabqan un tabaqin)." (84:19) At another place it said: "What has happened to you human beings that you do not expect (further) aggrandisation and honor in respect to God, while He has already created you from one pattern of creation to another." (71:14) These utterances which are unequivocal and not liable to different interpretation finally decide that the aim of this last message of God is to direct Mankind to Higher Evolution
as One Human Species.

Quran claimed that God sent the last of all the Prophets: "With Huda i.e. Direction and Din il Haq i.e. the Right programme in order that He may make him (the Prophet) overcome all other programmes." (61:9) The earlier knowers of the Quran took up this 'programme' and 'direction' and enveloped a greater part of the then known world in a few decades. Whole nations were 'converted' to Islam and its march onwards in the first few centuries reads like a fiction. This was because the true spirit of the Direction was imbibed and there was no sectarian prejudice to retard the march of that universal direction. Whole nations could not have been brought to the fold of Islam otherwise. Man is too shrewd to accept coercion, and that is why a greater part of the human race agreed to join the common flow. The Quran proclaimed: "There is no coercion in the Right Programme, (because) verily the the right has come out clear from the wrong." (2:256)
Thus the absolute manifestation of Truth paved the way for total domination of that right programme, at any rate as long as the Mussulmans (Muslims) understood it.

This was the original meaning of the words tafaqquh-fid-din, i.e. the understanding of the right programme, in the Quran. And this understanding meant that the entire purpose of the Quran and of the message of God to Man be kept in view. That was why God prohibited that people should: "split up Quran into portions." (15:91) and promised dire punishment for them. At another place the Quran said: "Are you going to believe one portion of the Book and disbelieve another, so whosoever does it, is damned to eternal disgrace in this world and the next world." (2:85) Thus the word Fiqah (taken from the expression Tafaqu-fid-din), which is now called the Islamic Jurisprudence, had an original meaning quite distinct from what is now attached to it. A Faqih is now understood to be a person who understands the intricacies of the personal law of the Mussulmans.

The same thing happened with the word Al-Ilm of the Quran. The Quran originally styled: "The Book of God" sent down to the Prophets as Al-Ilm i.e. The knowledge (3:7). All Books sent down through various Prophets were given the same appellation (Al Kitab) without distinction. In fact the 'Book of Nature' was called: "the patent i.e. the obvious book" (al kitab ul mubin) and the Quran only 'an extract' of it in Arabic language, so that you may become wise (43:1). This definition of knowledge only meant that the Book of Nature, the books brought down from God by the Prophets and the Quran were all the same things and it was adduced that Man split himself up into various sects and divisions even after the coming down of this knowledge to him. The Quran even goes further and pronounces that "everything that has been created in this Earth and whatever is in the skies, also whatever there exists between the two, has been created as a matter
of fact." (46:3) and the word Fact or Truth (Al-Haqq) does not occur anywhere in the Quran except with reference to the things created by God in Nature (Only in about half a dozen places the word Al-Haqq occurs with references to God Himself or His Prophets or to Death). With the same emphasis the "Ulama" or the knowers of the Quran are only those people who study deeply Nature made by God and "it is they alone who fear God (Innama yakhsh Allahu min ibadi hil Ulama)." (35:28) A Tradition of the Prophet also says that "the Ulama of my Ummat are like unto the Prophets of Bani Israel". Thus the "Ulama" of the Quran are only those people who have profound knowledge of the Book brought down by all the Prophets for Man or of the larger Book of Nature which is the only truth existing, and the idea is that by studying this Book the whole world of Human Beings becomes united into one homogeneous whole, irrespective of creed, colour, geography
or race, for the purpose of higher evolution of Man to still higher forms of creation. The Quran also uses the word Ahl-uz-Zikr (16:6) i.e. men of knowledge for these distinguished people.

It is clear therefore, that the Quran, (or as a matter of fact any Book of the Prophets), should have been interpreted in the light of the "Book of Nature" before us, and this was only done by the early knowers of the Quran in the first few centuries of the Prophet's Era with the result that God's Direction and Right Programme began to dominate over a large portion of the Earth and Man entered a brotherhood which had no prejudices of caste, colour, race or geography, for a good while. This was the age of the "Ulama" according to the Qur'an or rather "the age of the Prophets of Beni Israel". Subsequently the Mussulman forgot altogether the Divine programme and the limits of Islam began to squeeze. All expansion and conquest stopped as if by a magic wand and he began to look at the Quran from the sectarian or rather 'Muhammadan' point of view, as if Islam was a sect of humanity initiated by the Prophet Muhammad, just as Christians
believe that Christianity was a sect initiated by Christ or Jews a group of men formed by Moses.

According to this ridiculous, illogical and wrong notion of knowledge, the group of men who after this fall of Islam began to interpret Quran from this sectarian point of view began to style themselves as Ulama and Ahl-uz-Zikr and these Ulama further cut up the Mussulmans even into various sects according to their own school or method of thought. Thus the whole spirit of Islam vanished to nothingness. Now every Mulla of a mosque, who does not know what is beyond his nose, claims to interpret the Quran and styles himself Alim. The "age of millions of Ulama" has disappeared and with the disappearance of this atmosphere the thread of the knowledge of the Quran has been lost.

The same thing happened with regard to the word "Hadith" of the Quran. This word only meant "conversation" or "story" in the Quran and had absolutely no technical significance. The Quran said: "Allah has sent down (to you) the most excellent conversation (ahsan-al-hadith). " (39:23) At another place it said: "Then after this story (fabi ayye hadithin), which other story you would believe. (meaning the story of the right path of Man related by God to him)" (7:185) When these things were being revealed in the Quran there was not a trace of the written "Tradition of the Prophet."

The traditions of the Prophet (now styled Ahadith, plural of Hadith) were written down late in the third century of the Prophet's era, and during his lifetime the Prophet most strictly warned that "Nothing should be written down from me except the Quran, because (Look! How distinct is the warning) the previous nations got astray through writing." Inspite of this clear warning (authenticated by the Sahih of Al-Bokhari, which is universally accepted to be the most genuine document of the Traditions of the Prophet), the Mussulmans began to edit all possible utterances of the Prophet (reliable and unreliable, chaff and grain) and, in utter defiance to the irony of the Quran with regard to the word "Hadith", began to call it the "Hadith of the Rasul". There was a terrific going astray of the followers of the Prophet after this general adoption of "Hadith" as a Book of Direction, although the Great Omar, the second Kaliph pronounced on the
death-bed of the Prophet: Hasbona Kitab Allah i.e. to us the Book of God is sufficient, meaning that even if the Prophet expired we have quite sufficient material with us to go on with. These words were uttered in the presence of the Prophet and it is remarkable that he did not contradict them even though he wanted to dictate something to Omar at that time.

"Ahadith", because they were stray utterances of the Prophet separated from the context and the atmosphere of the conversation, and did not even sometime mention the status of the man to whom the conversation of the Prophet was addressed, created a tremendous confusion in the original teaching of the Quran, and Islam became even ten times sectarian in its teaching aspect. The expounders of Hadith split up again into various sections and the Mussulmans deteriorated still further. Now those expounders of Hadith style themselves as Muhadithin and the law that they have evolved out of this holy but man-given literature is called "Sunnah", and they have allied it with Quran as a complimentary literature without which no Quranic exposition can be complete. It is interesting to note here that the word "Sunnah" also was never used in the Quran in this technical sense; and its original meaning being only the "Law" or "Practice" of God which is
immutable: "Wa lun tajida Li sunnat illah tabdila" (48:23)

After this tentative exposition of Islam as ordained originally by the Creator of the Universe, the origin as well as position of "Faqihs" and "Ulamas" and "Muhadithin" in Islam becomes quite clear. Leaving the last two alone, Faqihs are those judges of the Mussulmans who administered justice in accordance with the dictates of the Quran and the Hadith and according to their discretion. They come to be known as "holy" men and their decisions became perpetuated as holy because in the imagination of the people as well as themselves they administered the "Law of God". Fiqah or the Islamic jurisprudence thus, (after divesting it of the sanctity attached to it) becomes merely the Law reports of the various Judges who sat on the Tribunals administering the personal law of a section of the Human beings called Muslims, very much like what the Law Reports of the modern Judges of the British or the Pakistani Courts are now-a-days. The decisions
of these old and competent Judges should be held in esteem in much the same way as the decisions of the various High Courts are still respected and quoted and even followed. But just as there is no compulsion on the part of the Modern Judge to hold an earlier decision sacred and immutable, there ought to be logically a free room for extension, evolution, mutation and even wholesale contradiction of previous decisions, in order to make Islamic law even more perfect and better fitted for an advancing nation. This view of Ijtihad in Fiqah is now more and more generally held, and people who view Fiqah in the light of ordinary administrative law based on a general fundamental Divine Book for the whole of Mankind, are gradually drifting away from this sanctity of the Fiqah, as it has been commonly understood hither-to.

With the almost awful generality of the Quran, of being the Message of God to the whole Human race, of being an 'extract' of the Book of Nature itself, of being given to all Prophets alike, of being something 'contained' in all the Books sent to the Prophets before, of being the last Word of God to Man, of being the latest and last edition of God's Law, and so forth, it is clear that Fiqah, Tafsir and Hadith which have been "added" now to the Quran as its necessary compliments by the Faqihs, the Ulama, and the Mohadithin, can only be considered as "man-made" adjuncts and that Quran divests itself of all responsibility with regard to them. To a student of Islam who wishes to go inwards to the originals of that Quran, which was pronounced by the Great Omar as "quite sufficient" for all purposes, these later structures obviously do not matter as they were absent at the time Islam was in full glory and the Quran in its full action.
Their potential value deteriorates also from the fact that no new upheaval in Islam took place after their appearance and sectarianism became so much intensified in it that Islam eventually lost even its pristine power of proselytisation.

But now that Islam (the last word in fact of God to Man) has also deteriorated like Judaism, Christianity and other religions of the world to the level of becoming a "religion" of a section of the Human race and there seems to be no immediate possibility of the revival of the original message of the Quran, it has become impossible to under rate the value of these "super-structures". Of these Fiqah, on the excellence of which depends the moral strength, solidarity and even the material prosperity of a society, stands out as the most important from the practical point of view. It is on the proper and most effective administration of Law that a society is moulded into what it should be. Most of the Western Nations of today have become what they are through proper and effective administration and propagation of the moral code they posses.

Much of what they posses at present in the matter of building a healthy society is the first word of the Quran written large on almost every page of it, and there are volumes of law in countless social matters which they have yet to imitate from the Quran. Proper Fiqah, culled from the pages of the Quran and put into actual practice by the force of belief of those who run Islamic society politically, is therefore the only remedy of the deteriorated Islam and unless this is done under the auspices of those geniuses who have read the Quran in its original spirit and know as well the practical administration of law in human society all the world over, Islamic Fiqah cannot produce miraculous results.

To give a concrete instance; Islamic Fiqah is perhaps the only institution in the world which divides Fundamental rights into two sections, viz., the rights of God (Haquq Allah) and the rights of people (Haquq ul Ibad). The thing most noticeable in the Quran which later exponents of Islam failed altogether to emphasize in Quranic System of law is that our jurists have taken up only that portion of law from the Quran, which has technical punishments or technical explanations attached to it and have put no emphasis worth mentioning on crimes and sins which the Quran emphasis as having led nations to ultimate destruction, and concerning which the Quran emphatically says that their punishment is eternal perdition and Hell. Another thing most marvelous in the Quran is that it has a graded tone of command or prohibition with respect to almost every imaginable human deed ranging from bounded duty (Farz), approval (Mustahab), dim approval, stern prohibition
(Haraam), prohibition, prohibition with punishment, prohibition without manifest punishment, disapproval etc, etc., up to the wrath of God, the ultimate reward of power and prosperity on Earth, the heavenly reward of Al-Jannah or of the burning fire and eternal perdition, or even of total destruction of the whole nation on this Earth. Out of all these various ways of clarifying the importance of deeds pertaining to the mandatory portion of the Quran our jurists have taken only those human deeds where the punishment or reward was technical and have left out mainly those where reward or punishment was more or less spiritual or simply unassigned. They have also failed to notice the most important fact of the legislative portion of the Quran that contravention of the "rights of God" brings about a lesser punishment and sometimes even connivance or merely more formal way or more spiritual way of dealing with it than a disregard of the "rights of
society". It is in this respect that Islamic Fiqah is sadly deficient and it requires the most supreme effort of the modern Islamic Jurist to evolve a most intelligent system of law for the reconstruction of the depraved Muslim society of modern times.

Again, the most outstanding defect of the present Islamic Fiqah is that it is stagnant and has been given a tint which makes it look like a sanctified institution. This has the desideratum of making it look un-modern or even medieval as compared with the Quran, which makes even the most high critic of it astounded at the most elaborate exactness of modernity of it. It is time that Pakistan, being an altogether new and even the largest Islamic State, should take the lead in revising, rather reforming, Islamic Fiqah from the original principles of Islamic Law. Men who have deeply studied the Quran from the scientific and universal aspect of it should come forward and make it an ideal system of law, as Quranic law ought necessarily to be.

It is time also that Islamic administrators of Law should take up those commandments of the Quran within the purview of law which the Quran enjoins as the basic duty of the whole Millah to take up and which tends to construct the whole society of Islam on solid foundations. In this respect the Quranic dictum that "there should be a people among you who invite (people) to do good and order you to do the outstanding good (al-maruf) (of remaining perfectly united) and prohibit you from doing the outstanding evil (al-munkar) (of becoming dispersed into various sections). Wal takun minkum ummatan yadauna ilal khaire wa yamurun bil maruf wa yanhauna anil munkar " (3:104) must become a portion of our progressive law, for the very reason that amar bil maruf and nahiy anil munkar have been a part and parcel of Islamic spiritualism from the remote beginning of Islam, at any rate individually, if not collectively. The word "order" and "prohibit" in this
section of the Quranic mandate are enough to convince that the providence meant that Human beings (being always prone to evil of disruption and most averse to mutual love and union) can be made to stand firm and united against all decomposing forces by the force of authority alone and that mere persuasive and voluntary efforts in this respect cannot bring about the intended results. The well known Quranic dictum: w'atasimu bihablillahe jamiaan wa la tafarraqu i.e. "hold on to the rope of God collectively and without exception and do not get dispersed." (3:103) Or the dictum: innal lazina faraqqu din ahum wa kanu shiaa, lasta minhum fi shay i.e. "those who split up their Programme (Din) and became divided into several sections, thou (O Prophet) are not to include thyself in them in any respect." (6:159) Are some examples of the way in which the Quran enjoins on its followers to keep to the commandments of God under all circumstances, and unless
mandates of a general nature like these, which are the very essence of the programmes of all "live" nations of the Earth, are put into actual practice by the moral force of law and judicious legislation, no law of humans can organize a healthy society. It is thus the duty of progressive Islamic Fiqah to extend its domain of moulding the morals and actions of Muslims in such a way that the whole spirit of the law contained the Quran is maintained. Any Fiqah without this inherent spirit is a skeleton of decayed Islam not possessing the motive power of that life giving urge which warms up human souls, and must be discarded as worthless and even un-godly.

Turkey in radical revision of Islamic texts
By Robert Piggott
Religious affairs correspondent, BBC News

Turkey is preparing to publish a document that represents a revolutionary reinterpretation of Islam - and a controversial and radical modernisation of the religion.
The country's powerful Department of Religious Affairs has commissioned a team of theologians at Ankara University to carry out a fundamental revision of the Hadith, the second most sacred text in Islam after the Koran.
The Hadith is a collection of thousands of sayings reputed to come from the Prophet Muhammad.
As such, it is the principal guide for Muslims in interpreting the Koran and the source of the vast majority of Islamic law, or Sharia.
This is kind of akin to the Christian Reformation. Not exactly the same, but... it's changing the theological foundations of [the] religion
Fadi Hakura,
Turkey expert, Chatham House

But the Turkish state has come to see the Hadith as having an often negative influence on a society it is in a hurry to modernise, and believes it responsible for obscuring the original values of Islam.
It says that a significant number of the sayings were never uttered by Muhammad, and even some that were need now to be reinterpreted.
'Reformation'
Commentators say the very theology of Islam is being reinterpreted in order to effect a radical renewal of the religion.
Its supporters say the spirit of logic and reason inherent in Islam at its foundation 1,400 years ago are being rediscovered. Some believe it could represent the beginning of a reformation in the religion.
Some messages ban women from travelling without their husband's permission.. . But this isn't a religious ban. It came about because it simply wasn't safe for a woman to travel alone
Prof Mehmet Gormez,
Hadith expert,
Department of Religious Affairs

Turkish officials have been reticent about the revision of the Hadith until now, aware of the controversy it is likely to cause among traditionalist Muslims, but they have spoken to the BBC about the project, and their ambitious aims for it.
The forensic examination of the Hadiths has taken place in Ankara University's School of Theology.
An adviser to the project, Felix Koerner, says some of the sayings - also known individually as "hadiths" - can be shown to have been invented hundreds of years after the Prophet Muhammad died, to serve the purposes of contemporary society.
"Unfortunately you can even justify through alleged hadiths, the Muslim - or pseudo-Muslim - practice of female genital mutilation," he says.
"You can find messages which say 'that is what the Prophet ordered us to do'. But you can show historically how they came into being, as influences from other cultures, that were then projected onto Islamic tradition."
The argument is that Islamic tradition has been gradually hijacked by various - often conservative - cultures, seeking to use the religion for various forms of social control.
Leaders of the Hadith project say successive generations have embellished the text, attributing their political aims to the Prophet Muhammad himself.
Revolutionary
Turkey is intent on sweeping away that "cultural baggage" and returning to a form of Islam it claims accords with its original values and those of the Prophet.
But this is where the revolutionary nature of the work becomes apparent. Even some sayings accepted as being genuinely spoken by Muhammad have been altered and reinterpreted.
Prof Mehmet Gormez, a senior official in the Department of Religious Affairs and an expert on the Hadith, gives a telling example.
"There are some messages that ban women from travelling for three days or more without their husband's permission and they are genuine.
"But this isn't a religious ban. It came about because in the Prophet's time it simply wasn't safe for a woman to travel alone like that. But as time has passed, people have made permanent what was only supposed to be a temporary ban for safety reasons."
The project justifies such bold interference in the 1,400-year-old content of the Hadith by rigorous academic research.
Prof Gormez points out that in another speech, the Prophet said "he longed for the day when a woman might travel long distances alone".
So, he argues, it is clear what the Prophet's goal was.
Original spirit
Yet, until now, the ban has remained in the text, and helps to restrict the free movement of some Muslim women to this day.
There's also violence against women within families, including sexual harassment.. . This does not exist in Islam... we have to explain that to them
Hulya Koc, a "vaize"

As part of its aggressive programme of renewal, Turkey has given theological training to 450 women, and appointed them as senior imams called "vaizes".
They have been given the task of explaining the original spirit of Islam to remote communities in Turkey's vast interior.
One of the women, Hulya Koc, looked out over a sea of headscarves at a town meeting in central Turkey and told the women of the equality, justice and human rights guaranteed by an accurate interpretation of the Koran - one guided and confirmed by the revised Hadith.
She says that, at the moment, Islam is being widely used to justify the violent suppression of women.
"There are honour killings," she explains.
"We hear that some women are being killed when they marry the wrong person or run away with someone they love.
"There's also violence against women within families, including sexual harassment by uncles and others. This does not exist in Islam... we have to explain that to them."
'New Islam'
According to Fadi Hakura, an expert on Turkey from Chatham House in London, Turkey is doing nothing less than recreating Islam - changing it from a religion whose rules must be obeyed, to one designed to serve the needs of people in a modern secular democracy.
He says that to achieve it, the state is fashioning a new Islam.
"This is kind of akin to the Christian Reformation, " he says.
"Not exactly the same, but if you think, it's changing the theological foundations of [the] religion. "
Fadi Hakura believes that until now secularist Turkey has been intent on creating a new politics for Islam.
Now, he says, "they are trying to fashion a new Islam."
Significantly, the "Ankara School" of theologians working on the new Hadith have been using Western critical techniques and philosophy.
They have also taken an even bolder step - rejecting a long-established rule of Muslim scholars that later (and often more conservative) texts override earlier ones.
"You have to see them as a whole," says Fadi Hakura.
"You can't say, for example, that the verses of violence override the verses of peace. This is used a lot in the Middle East, this kind of ideology.
"I cannot impress enough how fundamental [this change] is."

Missile strike kills 12 in Pakistan

Friday, February 29, 2008

PESHAWAR - Agence France-Presse

A missile strike early yesterday killed at least 12 people, most of them Arabs, in a Pakistani tribal area known as a safe haven for al-Qaeda militants, officials said.
Residents in Azam Warsak village in South Waziristan told Agence France-Presse that a house was destroyed by a missile fired from a pilotless drone and the loud blast was heard miles away in the rugged valley.

Just like Israel kills in Gaza.  In the former case is a thug military secularist forces and the other Jewish forces.  They both anihilate Muslims.
