[mukto-mona] Rally




Chakma & Minority Rally

In front of UN

 

Indigenous Jumma People's Network USA (IJPN) & Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, USA (BHBCUC) jointly hold a 'RALLY' in front of UN @ 1PM-3PM on Friday, 25th April 2008. Buddha Rattan Bhikkhu, president, IJPN, USA & as many as 15 other monks were present at the rally and talked about CHT & minority problems. Three presidents & secretary respectively of BHBCUC, USA Ratan Barua, Nabendu Dutta, Thomas D. Roy and Sushil Saha were present.  One monk from Tibbet joined the gathering. Three other monks from Burma respectively Ven Kheminda; U Suriya & Ashin Indaka joined & supported our demands. Slogans were: Stop killing in CHT; Stop Land Grabbing; Stop Military atrocity; Implement CHT Peace Treaty; Withdraw Military from CHT; Stop Burning Houses in CHT; Stop Religious Persecution; Repeal Enemy Property etc. Buddha Rattan Bhikkhu, president, IJPN, USA & BHBCUC, USA president Ratan Barua jointly handed over two memorandums respectfully of their organizations to the Secretary General's representative. Among others present were: Buddha Rattan Bhikkhu, Kisolay Chakma, Ratan Barua, Nabendu Dutta, Dr. Thomas D. Roy, Sushil Saha, Pradip Das, Pradip Malaker, Muktipada Sil, Dr. Monorama Biswas, Dr. Radhya Shyam Bairagi; C. R. Mondol; Ramen Nandi; Dr. Sudhangshu Karmaker; Bhikku Obasa; Chipamong Chowdhury; Kanika Chakma; Rupayan Chakma; Agra Pratip Chakma; Sanghapal Shoranon; Monoj Kumar Sarker; Nilakhi Chakma; Dr. B.P Mahather; Theoonagga Musor; Subrata Bisaws; Rabindra Sarker; S.P. Karmaker; Hakikul Islam Khokan; Sitangshu Guha & others.

Looks like finally you have agreed that it is not the nuclear force, rather the electrostatic force that keeps the electron in its orbit.

You are now invoking a fictitious force named centrifugal force and claiming that "---these two forces (centripetal and centrifugal) have to balance." My humble question was what that meant. Does it mean that net force on the electron is zero?

There is no string connecting the nucleus and the electron. Does this fact make any difference in your explanation of the phenomenon?

[ALOCHONA] three reasons for which BNP will not be allowed to unite

তিন কারণে বিএনপির ঐক্য হওয়ার আপাতত কোনো সুযোগ ও সম্ভাবনা নেই!


আজাহার আলী সরকার: এক. বিএনপির ঐক্য হলে খালেদা জিয়া শক্তিশালী হতে পারে। দুই. ঐক্যবদ্ধ বিএনপি কোনো কারণে সংসদ নির্বাচনে সহযোগিতা না করলে এই সরকারের বিপর্যয় ঘটতে পারে। তিন. ঐক্যবদ্ধ বিএনপি আগামী নির্বাচনে অংশগ্রহণের মাধ্যমে ভালো ফলাফল লাভ করতে পারে বলে ধারণা করছেন সরকারের একটি প্রভাবশালী মহল। এসব কারণেই বিশেষ মহলটি চাইছে, বিএনপি নেতাদের ঐক্য ঠেকাতে। ফলে বিএনপির ঐক্য হওয়ার আপাতত কোনো সুযোগ এবং সম্ভাবনা নেই বলে ধারণা করছেন রাজনৈতিক বিশ্লেষকরা।
যদিও বিভক্ত বিএনপিকে একত্রিত করতে আবারও মাঠে নামছেন দলের প্রবীণ নেতারা। এর নেতৃত্বে রয়েছেন স্পিকার ব্যারিস্টার জমিরউদ্দিন সরকার এবং বিএনপি স্থায়ী কমিটির সদস্য সাবেক সেনাপ্রধান লেফটেন্যান্ট জেনারেল মাহবুবুর রহমান। এ কাজের সূচনা হিসেবে তাদের পক্ষ থেকে আলাদাভাবে যোগাযোগ ও আলোচনা শুরু হয়েছে। স্পিকার জমিরউদ্দিন গত দুদিন জেনারেল মাহবুবকে ফোন করে ২৯ অক্টোবরে বিএনপির স্থায়ী কমিটির গৃহীত সিদ্ধান্ত বাতিল করে ঐক্যের কথা বলেছেন। জেনারেল মাহবুব, স্পিকারের মাধ্যমে শর্তহীনভাবে ঐক্যের আলোচনায় খালেদাপন্থীদের বসার অনুরোধ জানিয়েছেন। সূত্রমতে, তারা উভয়ে নিজ গ্র"পের স্বার্থে কোনো ছাড় দিতে রাজি হননি। আজকালের মধ্যে তাদের আবারও যোগাযোগ বা আলোচনা হতে পারে বলে সংশ্লিষ্ট সূত্র জানিয়েছে। প্রাথমিকভাবে এই আলোচনা বা যোগাযোগের কাজ আগামী ৪৮ ঘণ্টায় শেষ করা হতে পারে। আলোচনা ফলপ্রসূ হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা থাকলে এই সময়ের মধ্যেই কারাবন্দি বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসন খালেদা জিয়ার অনুমতি নিয়ে জরুরিভাবে স্থায়ী কমিটির একটি বৈঠকও অনুষ্ঠিত হতে পারে।
এই বৈঠকে খালেদাপন্থী গ্র"পের মহাসচিব খন্দকার দেলোয়ার হোসেন এবং স্থায়ী কমিটি মনোনীত মহাসচিব মেজর (অব.) হাফিজউদ্দিন আহমেদের উপস্থিত থাকার সম্ভাবনা কম। তবে চূড়ান্ত সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণ করার আগে তাদের দুজনের বক্তব্য রাখার সুযোগের বিষয়টি বিবেচনা করা হতে পারে।
সূত্রমতে, কোনোভাবে বিএনপি ঐক্যবদ্ধ হলে আগামীতে খন্দকার দেলোয়ার হোসেন এবং হাফিজ দলের মহাসচিব পদে বহাল থাকছেন না। তাদের পরিবর্তে অন্য কাউকে অস্থায়ীভাবে অল্পদিনের জন্য মহাসচিবের দায়িত্ব দেয়া হতে পারে। আর তাদের দুজনকেই স্থায়ী কমিটির সদস্যের মতোই গুরুত্ব দিয়ে মূল্যায়ন করা হতে পারে বলে বিএনপির নীতিনির্ধারণী মহলের সংশ্লিষ্ট একটি সূত্রে জানা গেছে।

[ALOCHONA] Torture on female student DU : Why HR , fenminist Irine , Maleka, s kamal C silent no

Sir,
I went abroad for higher studies but all my cousins went to DU also and now their next  generation is studying there. I'm sure Bangladesh would never become Pakistan but please tell me, why there's so much corruption if all are Pious Moslims?
 
Why I write Muslim wrong or Moslim?
Because no children in USA, U.K., Canada, New Zealand etc think it should be pronounced Muslim after they are told the correct pro-nunciation. They think, it should be written Moslim including my own children born and raised USA.
 
If you insist you are right, please find me a word in English Dictionary were 'U' sounds like 'O' as 2nd letter, where 3rd letter is 'S' ...!
There are only a few words, where 'U' sounds 'O' or 'OO' like Put, Pull, Bush, Push, Full, Bull etc. There are a lot words, we mis-pronounce in the Sub Continent replacing sound of full 'U' (yoo or you sound) with double 'O' wrongfully like in Dude, Rude, Stupid, Flute, Delute, etc. 
 
You see, nobody pronounces Musharraf right here because 'Mush' is a word and it has no sound of 'O' in it. The same is true with all names, where we have used 'U' for sound of 'O'. 'Mullaah' is pronounced without any sound of 'O' in it because 'Mull' is a word and it has no sound of 'O' in it. Where the hell you people are adding an 'H' in the end is a mystery to me because in Arabic this word has no 'H' in the end.
 
Mullah is a word of Arabic that means Sail Boat Guy, not Mollaa. Since there's no word in English that starts with 'Qur' or in similar fashion, 'Quran' is being pronounced 'Qarane' here. without an 'O' sound. Write is Qoraan, and find them pronouncing it correctly all the time. Are we in to some kind of stupid game of making Westerners pronounce our words wrong, sir as an essential part of Islam?
If so, please provide me the qoutes proving your point in Qoraan or Hadith ...!]
Otherwise, please tell me, why as a Moslim I have to keep being embarassed of stupid things like these in gatherings of English Language Ph. D's, being one of them?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton shouldn't share the Democratic presidential ticket unless they really want to.
"No, I don't think it's a good idea," Pelosi said in an interview with CNN talk show host Larry King aired Thursday night.
"I think first of all the candidate, whoever he or she may be, should choose his or her own vice presidential candidate," said Pelosi, who will chair the Democratic National Convention in Denver in August. "I think that's appropriate. That's where you would see the comfort level on not only how to run, but how to govern the country.
"And there's plenty of talent to go around to draw upon for a good, strong ticket. I'm not one of those who thinks that's a good ticket."
But Pelosi added that if Clinton and Obama "think that it's a good ticket, maybe it is. But I don't think that we should thrust the vice presidential choice onto the presidential nominee. That's her or his decision to make."
Pelosi also said she agrees with Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean that the nomination should be settled before the national convention.
"I don't want a brokered convention. I think there's too short a time — maybe just about eight weeks between the end of the convention and the election. And I don't think that's enough time to bring everyone together," Pelosi said.
"I do think that the campaigns have to work their way through this, that we should have all the elections, let the people speak and then we'll find out who our nominee is."
The last Democratic primaries are June 3 in Montana and South Dakota.

Message of Solidarity

 

                On  behalf of several affiliates and friendly  Trade Union Organisations of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) in the Asia-Pacific Region, we extend our unstinted support and solidarity to the Bangladesh immigrant workers in South Greece  who are on strike  since 7 days demanding increase in wages etc.

 

                It is noted with  grave concern that about 5,000  immigrant workers  from Bangladesh working in farms producing strawberries with meagre wages and no facilities,  in the town of Manolada Ilias  in South Greece,  are being exploited by the 20 rich farmers  who were their employers.  We strongly condemn these rich farmers unbecoming  attitude towards the farm workers of Bangladesh  who are treated like bonded labourers.

 

                Further  the workers were attacked on the 20th April  by the rich farmers using hunting tools and guns.  In the attack the cadres of PAME were injured and hospitalised. We urge upon the concerned authorities to arrest the culprits and  take action against them. We also demand that wages and service conditions to be immediately enhanced to equal that of their counterparts  in Greece on the principles of 'equal wage for equal work' and  'no discrimination  or exploitation'.

 

                We warn that we will be constrained to  give a call to all our affiliates and friendly organisations in the Region  to demonstrate before the Bangladesh Embassies / High-Commissions  wherever they are situated, in case justice is not done to these immigrant workers of  Bangladesh in Greece.

My Response:
 
Nuclear force is short ranged, and only works inside the nucleus to provide binding energy for the nucleons. The net charge of the nucleus is positive, which provides electrostatic force on the electrons. This attractive force is strongest for electrons in the inner most shell, and in order for electrons to be able to stay outside the nucleus, electrons have to revolve around the nucleus with certain speed, thus generating needed centrifugal force for that orbit to balance centripetal electrostatic force.
 
Let me give you another example. Lets secure a stone onto one end of a rope and hold the other end. Now try to whirl. Pretty soon the attractive centripetal force provided by the rope and the centrifugal force due to motion of the stone will balance and the stone will keep on revolving around you as long as it maintains an optimum speed for its orbit. If the speed increases too much from the optimum speed, the string could break. If the speed decreases too much, the stone will come toward you to hit you. The same mechanism is in play for the nucleus and the electron. To maintain an equilibrium condition, these two forces have to balance.
 
I hope it will clarify misconception.

Dhaka, April 25 (bdnews24.com) - An alliance of about 50 human-rights and women's organisations Friday demanded the removal of Mufti Muhammad Nuruddin as the khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

The alliance also demanded cancellation of the recommendations by a review committee formed to bring changes to the proposed national women's development policy, now at the heart of debate.

The call for removal of the chief cleric of the mosque came from a press conference, co-organised by Samajik Protirodh Committee and Nagorik Samaj, two NGOs that promote human rights, mainly women's.

A charter of demands includes an end to politics in religious institutions, a public announcement on equal rights as envisaged in the constitution and publication of a clear government stand on the women's policy in a press statement.

At the press conference at Kabi Sufia Kamal auditorium in Segunbagicha, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad chief Ayesha Khanam said armed attacks from a venue for prayers would affect democracy and stability of the country.

Ayesha challenged the legality of forming such a review committee by the government. She also criticised the role of the government in the women's development policy.

Shahrier Kabir of Nagorik Samaj said the mosque had been turned into a den of extremists.

"The khatib is responsible for all this."

Despite holding a government post, the khatib threatened to launch a civil war in the country, Shahrier alleged.

The khatib denied the charges.

Islamic hardliners fought with the police on April 10-11 leaving about 200 people injured in the Baitul Mukarram area, a rallying point for protests after Friday prayers.

Hundreds of bigots took to the streets to protest the government's proposed policy that prescribes equal rights to property.

Accepting the recommendations of the review committee would be like returning to the medieval age, Ayesha said.

"The review committee is trying to establish fundamentalist politics in the guise of amending the women's development policy," she alleged.

The khatib said: "What I had said was not aimed against an individual. It was inspired by the Quran. I had just referred to Islamic principles laid out in the Quran. All Muslims have to follow those principles. I didn't violate any rule."
