[mukto-mona] Muslim Minorities in West Bengal and Assam

We have seen many stories and comments on the atrocities on Hindu
minorities, with reference to the territorial region of Bangladesh.
Excepting the false and concocted reports, the subject is worth
studying.

But I do not understand why hardly there is any discussions on the
Bengalee Muslim Minorities in West Bengal and Assam. The
Bangladeshis are more educated and spread around the world, as such,
having better understanding of such discussions and the values lying
therein.

The status of the Muslim Bengalees of Assam and West Bengal remain
iron curtained. Perhaps it will be better if the learned members of
the Mukto-Mona forum examine and report in this column on the status
of the minority Muslim Bengalees of Assam and West Bengal.

We strongly feel that today the reports on the above subjects should
be objective and without any prejudice to any community or group.
This will help the concerned people as well as the majority Hindu
Bengalees.

[mukto-mona] Why transfer of capital from Calcutta to New Delhi in 1911?

There are many unexplained stories regarding the British rule in
India. One of those is why transfer of capital from Calcutta to New
Delhi in 1911?

A. Was the transfer on logistic reasons?

B. Was it for better colonial grip?

C. Could it be related to the possibility of wider cooperation from
the local population.

D. Was it because the intelligence reports of the colonial rulers
satisfied them that the cooperation from the local Bengalee Hindus
was waning?

E. If the colonial Britishers caused the transfer of capital from
Calcutta to New Delhi in 1911 considering the inefficiency of the
local officials.

F. Was it due to growing lawlessness in Bengal?

The transfer of capital in those days was not very easy. It must had
been planned, projected and implemented for quite sometime. It has
been a very important and significant part of the history of South
Asia. Yet the scholars and historians, both Western and Indian,
hardly touched the subject with documentations.

It will be highly appreciated if the learned readers of the Mukto-
Mona forum kindly write about the transfer of capital from Calcutta
to New Delhi in 1911 -- particularly analysing the colonial British
point of view.

[mukto-mona] Two Ladies: seeds of discords

Two ladies: seeds of their discords?
Mozammel H. Khan
It is a very common utterance especially by the so-called neutral citizens of our Republic that the two ladies are the root of all our evils. It is true, however, that their animosity against each other has reached such a level that they are not even in talking term to each other. In the process our 'neutral citizens' are in the mode of making the two ladies equally responsible for the animosities developed between them over the years. Recently, Barrister Rafique-ul Huq, the legal counsels for both, who termed one as the daughter of the father of the nation while attributing the other as the wife of a former President, has spoken in blunt term that they should seat together and resolve their differences in the interests of the country. A similar sentiment was echoed by adviser Dr. Hossain Zillur Rahman in a recent remark when he said, "the government hopes the two leaders will not only respond to this move but also take initiatives on their own to this end". However, any keen observer of our political landscape would be skeptical to the tangible and lasting success of any such move without the logical identification of the causes of their discords and the required pragmatic steps to remove them before any such meeting takes place.
The seed of discord between them, not by any means the ideological difference between two political parties - a common phenomenon in any democracy, was sowed on the fateful night of August 15, 1975, albeit one had no direct part in it while the other was the direct victim. Over the next few years it would be one's husband who would reward the self-confessed killers with diplomatic jobs and would incorporate the infamous 'indemnity' act in the constitution to give them impunity from the dreadful acts and prevent any future prosecution. With her assuming the premiership of the country, instead of any attempt of reconciliation, she went further to re-write the history of our nation, especially of the culminating chapter, through absolute marginalization of the contributions of the leader under whose clarion call and name the liberation war was fought.
The devastating addition in the chores of discord took place, following the declaration of August 15 as the day of national mourning by the AL government in 1996, when she started publicly celebrating the tragic day as her newly discovered birthday. She was surely not re-incarnated all on a sudden and as a former PM and the widow of a former President her birthday was on record on multiple documents, albeit there was no records of her celebration. It reflected the worst possible mental depreciation of any human being, more so for a public figure who at that time was the leader of the opposition and a former PM of the country.
With her second assumption of the Premiership of the country she put the last nail on the coffin of reconciliation. Without referring to her atrocious governance vis-à-vis treating her political opponents, the history was re-invented, the way she wanted to please herself, except for what really happened. The text- books were re-written with fictitious stories to prevent our next generation from learning the true history of the birth of our nation, the worst from of violation of human rights. The Day of national mourning was abolished. A documentary was made allegedly by her son, which was telecast over BTV on two consecutive days in 2006 portraying the supreme leader of our independence a villain, not a real hero as known at home and abroad. An adviser to her, a former seasoned diplomat and DS contributor, confided to me, a few months before his sudden death, that she was deprived of any possible cabinet position, only because in his published memoir he referred Shiekh Mujib as Bangabandhu and depicted the undistorted history of our liberation war of which he was an active participant as a diplomat posted in a key western capital. The antipathy toward that name is so intense that even a co-counsel, a BNP loyalist, who represented her with Barrister Rafique, termed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hospital as P.G. Hospital on the other day, probably to avoid any possibility of falling out of favour of his leader.
There was also deliberate effort by the past BNP regime neither to bring the convicted killers of Bangabadhu and members of his family to final justice nor to bring the absconding convicts back home to heal the much-inflicted wound.
Any human soul, when in distress, usually regains one's human sense and pulls oneself out of depravity. It was also expected out of Khaleda Zia especially when she gave a call for unity of all the political forces from her custody. However, her followers' public celebration of her so-called birthday, following the declaration of the current CTG to revert August 15 back as a national day of mourning, only testified that nothing has changed for her vis-à-vis her attitude towards Sheikh Hasina. It was extremely disheartening to spot a bureaucrat turned politician, at the fag end of his life, whose presence in BNP was not guided by any ideological dogma, whatsoever, but only because AL could not promise him a nomination in 1991, was enjoying the birthday cake at the jail gate.
One sided illustrations might provoke any reader to ask if Sheikh Hasina did nothing wrong to hurt Khaleda Zia. Yes, she certainly did, probably more than her due share; but all of it through her verbal jabs creating only transient wounds.
If meeting of the two ladies has to bring any fruitful outcomes for smooth functioning of our democracy, Begum Zia has to publicly pledge not to undo the reverting of her wrongdoings by the current CTG in regard to our true history and the national day of mourning if she becomes PM again. Finally, she has to pull herself out of the grave depravity and cease the public celebration of her fictitious birthday on the national day of mourning. These are the bare minimum required from her to create a congenial environment for meeting of the ladies, failing which any number of meetings between the two will end simply in fiasco and the nation will be back to square one.
Dr. Mozammel H. Khan is the Convenor of the Canadian Committee for Human Rights and Democracy in Bangladesh.

Re: [mukto-mona] Atrocites on Hindu Minorities continue

WRT: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto-mona/message/49820

Prof. Roy

The problem lies with the basic belief of moslems that if they can convert
someone to his own faith, his paradise is ensured. Girls of other religion
are only mal-e-ganimats, so are the property of those who belong to other
faiths. How can one ensure the protection of religious minorities when
confronted with such atrocious faith system.

[mukto-mona] McCain's Tax Cut needs corresponding budget cuts, says Greenspan

Dear Mukto-mona forum members:

Why am I posting this newsworthy item?  First, Dr. Greenspan is a Republican and a respected macro-economist.  Second, in this forum we have a few hardcore deshi Republicans who hardly understand how macro-economic forces work in a developed economy such as America.  This folks have come to America from Third World countries with their Third World mentality in search of greener pasture.  They however fail to see that McCain's economic prescription will lead the nation to a downward spiral into abyss from which it will be very difficult to return to normalcy.

In 2001, George Bush inherited a sound economy with a budget surplus.  Thanks to Bill Clinton for this exceptional feat!  But look what Bush did single-handedly to the economy with a help from Dick Cheney.  Over the last 7 years, the government is taxing the rich less and instead writing "IOUs" to foreign nations such as ChinaJapan, Saudi Arabia, Oil rich Gulf nations, etc.  The budget deficit thus far has ballooned to over $ 15 trillion (Twelve Zeroes after 15).  When all the creditors would come to reclaim their money, this nation will have to declare it as a bankrupt nation.  Dr. Greenspan realizes it; therefore, he gave the warning shot to McCain.  In this respect, Obama's plan is a lot better.  The Democrats want to cut the wastage (by ending Iraq War), taxing the rich and corporation.  Senator McCain opposes this approach to fiscal management.  Like other Republicans he wants to give tax break to rich hoping the tax money will trickledown to American economy.  Reagan was the champion of this "Trickledown Theory," which was found not to work at all.

May I humbly request the staunch McCain supporters in this forum to rebut Dr. Greenspan or my short write-up?  If they cannot, then join the Democratic ticket.  For the sake of our next generation, please do not elect the Republican ticket because their economic prescription would surely kill the sick nation.

John McCain was a outstanding soldier, but his math is all wrong.  The professorial Dr. Greenspan was correct in pointing out that McCain's approach to economy will lead to more budget deficit further down the road.  Am I being wrong?

Sincerely,

A.H. Jaffor Ullah

Greenspan Says McCain Tax Plan Needs Corresponding Budget Cuts

Scott Lanman
Fri Sep 12, 3:03 PM ET

Sept. 12 (Bloomberg) -- Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said the country can't afford $3.3 trillion of tax cuts proposed by Republican presidential nominee John McCain without corresponding spending reductions.

Greenspan, a lifelong Republican and longtime friend of McCain, said today on Bloomberg Television's ``Political Capital With Al Hunt'' that ``I'm not in favor of financing tax cuts with borrowed money.''

McCain has said he would balance the cost of most of his tax cuts with budget reductions, while providing few details beyond eliminating earmarks and other pork-barrel spending, which have totaled about $171 billion since 2001. Democratic nominee Barack Obama is proposing fewer tax cuts and more ambitious spending programs.

Greenspan said he has ``mixed feelings'' about a second government economic-stimulus bill after the U.S. provided a $168 billion package in February. While such an action may increase the budget deficit at a time when spending on retirees' medical benefits is about to cause ``big'' financial problems, it may also boost economic growth, he said.

Greenspan has said there's at least a 50 percent chance the U.S. economy will slide into a recession.

``There is no infinite piggy bank here,'' Greenspan said today. It's ``far more important'' to use federal resources, if necessary, to shore up the financial system and end the credit crisis, as Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson did in taking over mortgage-finance companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, averting a possible run on the system, Greenspan said.

Economic Stimulus

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats in Congress have called for an additional $50 billion in economic stimulus. A request by General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and their suppliers for at least $25 billion in government loans to help them shift to more fuel-efficient auto models will likely be included, Democrats said this week.

Greenspan's memoir, ``The Age of Turbulence,'' was released in a paperback version this week, a year after the first hardcover edition. In a new epilogue, the former Fed chief, who retired in 2006, cited a ``critical need'' to create procedures for bank bailouts that ensure there is no impact on the Fed's balance sheet and interest-rate policy.

The Fed and the Treasury Department are helping Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. find a buyer after investor concerns about the firm's capital prompted more than a 75 percent decline in its market value this week. Paulson is adamant that no government funds will be used in a Lehman resolution, a person close to the matter said today.

`Most Critical Question'

In the interview, Greenspan, 82, said the ``most critical question'' is where to draw the line between companies that get government-led bailouts. It's impossible to rule out such actions completely, Greenspan said, citing crises such as the current one as a ``once-in-a-half century, once-in-a-century event'' that can't be avoided.

``If you want the system to stay together, there comes a time when you basically have to substitute sovereign credit for private credit to keep the system moving,'' Greenspan said. If a bailout is necessary, it's important that ``you do it in a way which essentially does not have major long-term consequences.''

McCain's proposal, outlined April 15, would extend President George W. Bush's tax cuts, reduce the top corporate rate, repeal the alternative minimum tax and double exemptions for dependents. That would be offset by eliminating pork-barrel spending, freezing a portion of the budget and saving from Medicare spending, McCain said at the time.

Politically Careless

``I always have tied tax cuts to spending,'' Greenspan said. In 2001 testimony before Congress, Greenspan was widely interpreted to have endorsed Bush's proposal to cut taxes by $1.6 trillion over 10 years. In the book, Greenspan characterized his testimony as politically careless and said his words were misinterpreted.

Paul Volcker, Greenspan's predecessor as Fed chairman, has endorsed Obama, a first-term U.S. senator from Illinois, in the presidential election, and is serving as an economic adviser to the candidate.

Greenspan said the widening income disparity among Americans is a ``very serious'' issue, and requires both raising the pay of lower-income workers and reducing higher incomes. ``The best way of doing that is to remove what is essentially protectionism for those skilled workers in the United States who are helped by keeping out their competition,'' he said, referring to the issue of ``skilled immigration.''

The U.S. education system is ``critical'' to help ``cutting-edge technologies'' replace older industries that will be phased out over time, Greenspan said.

[ALOCHONA] Indian Illegal immigrants Infiltrate and Sabotage in Bangladesh

Indian Illegal immigrants Infiltrate and sabotage in Bangladesh

By Abu Zafar Mahmood , USA

Illegal Indian immigrants, including trained personals already have infiltrated in Bangladesh job market. Here is not all. These illegal Indian immigrants also keep pressures over the jobs in Dhaka in front of the police and intelligence agencies of the government. The story is not too short as easy to say, rather longer and indicative. They become Bangladeshi passport holders, arrange visa and fly abroad.Burmese criminals also follow the same policies.Bangladesh must keep eye on them and deport these Anti- Bangladeshis immidiately.

RAW officials captured their positions inside the country safely.

Political governments in the past did overlook because the corruptions were their basic principles in the cover of different isms and Indian government was their force in behind for the survival risks. The present Army backed Advisory caretakers also compromise with Indian government and promised to grow a magic of friendship which none dare to think even in the past.

So, analysts are suspecting, hopefully Bangladeshis will find the Indian civil executives to run civil administration in the important positions and Indian militaries to train and command Bangladesh defense forces very soon ! The Chief of Indian Army during his one week visit in Bangladesh from July28th 2008 already placed proposals to train Bangladeshi militaries and share them the experiences of commanding the united nation's peace keeping. Though the reality is that Bangladesh Arm forces can teach any forces of India on International peace keeping for any range of time.

I talked with hundreds of Bangladesh liberation war veterans of 1971.Everybody expressed almost the same feeling. Where the Indian BSF kill ruthlessly innocent Bangladeshis inside Bangladesh close to North and Western Border areas as like as they fire the toys, never keep respect on their own promises to the BDR officials, very natural, no feeling of friendship appear in their mind for a moment.

Not only that, the war veterans added, warm feeling for Indian Militaries which grew at the time of joint force during the liberation war at the early involvement that already washed out when the Indian Army played tricks, cheated Bangladeshis, made deal with Pakistan Army for Indian benefits only, keeping muktee Bahinee out of the site. They compelled acting president of the exile Bangladesh government Sayed Nazrul Islam to sign in a 7 points treaty under threat of death.

Arranged Pakistani defeated Army to surrender to Indian non-Muslim Army only, not to the Joint forces.Dr.Kalipodo Boiddyo wrote in his book, "Pakistan-India war preparation and war,"- "Indian Army took the possession of Bangladesh on 16th December". Where as Prime Minister Indira Gandhi announced in her speech in a public meeting in Lukhnow on March 8th, 1972 that Indian Military defeated the Muslim Military in East Pakistan and changed the Indian war history of hundred years. Which was published in all Indian national newspapers in the next day morning of March 9th. Where as Bangladeshis and the rest of the world did not think similar to Indians at all.

However, the Chief of Bangladesh Army during his visit in India, invited Indian commanders to be the guest in Bangladesh,it`s fine. But not more than that, as they don't believe in trade with Bangladesh, except divide and destroy Bangladeshi defense. Bangladesh has no space to be reluctant about India. In the present perspective, no Army in the world is enemy to Bangladesh except Indian Army who almost everyday Kill Bangladeshis in Borders, their government push the environmental and water disaster on Bangladesh for which effect Bangladesh has become the most sufferer in the world.

The series of bombs blast in Ahmedabad of Guzrat and Bengalore, the IT city of India did nothing but terrorized the innocent peoples with killings and injuries. These political constituencies are of Hindu extremist's political party Bharatiyo Janata Party-BJP.The Indian analysts made comment in newspapers that these are the symptoms of growing Hindu-Muslim communal riots in future. Terrorism becomes the tools for next politics in India.

A day after major Indian cities were placed on high alert following blasts in the IT city of Bangalore, as many as 17 blasts ripped through Ahmedabad, capital of the affluent western Indian state of Gujarat. Some 30 people were killed, some at hospitals where bombs were timed to go off when the injured from other blasts were being brought in. (Later, in Surat, a center for the world's diamond industry, a bomb was defused near a hospital, and two cars packed with explosives were found in the city's outskirts).

Investigators pointed fingers at the usual Islamist suspects: Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), Bangladesh-based Harkat-ul Jihadi Islami (HUJI) and the indigenous Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). But even as the police searched for clues, the Ahmedabad attacks were owned up by a group calling itself the Indian Mujahideen. (INDIA:THE TERRORIST WITHIN by Madhur Singh/NewDelhi,http://www.time.com/time world/article/0,8599,1826950,00html).

Journalist Nitin Shah did the news in India Daily on July 28th,08 that The BJP leader Sushoma Swaraj boldly criticized the Congress leaded government in the press conference in NewDelhi. She said,"The blasts are a conspiracy to divert attention from the cash-for votes scandal".In the main street gossip is how Sonia Gandhi`s government forced CBI,RAW and other agencies allow SIMI take it on the BJP ruled states.A segment of Indian population believe it is a similar to 911 conspiracy allegation where US Authorities overlooked the signals of terrorism ,the tragic devastation.

LK Advani blamed Sonia Gandhi in open challenge. He said," Sonia Gandhi allowed thousands of Islamic terror cells sleeping in the major cities through lack of tough anti-terror laws and weak intelligence. It looks like our anti-terror legal frame work is not up to the mark and it getting exposed". He added the problem is that Indian intelligence agencies have been used by the Sonia Gandhi's government for political purposes in the last few years making India vulnerable to terrorism.

Lal Krishna Advani is the undeclared spokesman of Indian Army. He is most acceptable leader within the conservative Hinduttawadi, expansionist group of Armies who fight to get back Pakistan and Bangladesh again and believe in re-united India. An Indian journalist Mr. Rathin Sen Gupta expressed with confidence in Jackson Heights, NewYork on July 29th, 08 that Lal Krishna Advani will be the next prime minister of India.

During the composing this article Indian newspapers published that The Japanese Embassy in New Delhi got an email threat of bombing threat in the most crowded market in Delhi.

The Indian strategic columnists already made comment in their articles for the newspapers that The India-America Nuke deal is the joint collaboration of CIA-RAW. If we agree with these analysts in their opinion and argues we have to be ready to see the issue of the Muslim terrorism drama clearly. Today TATA Company announced through their website that they already have withdrawn their investment proposal of 3 thousand crores rupees from Bangladesh.Strong Intelligence agencies also successfully created a situation in middle east thus Bangladesh loss the workers market in there. Different sources turn their fingers to the foreign ministry of Bangladesh and say it is playing a friendly match with them involving in the conspiracy against Bangladeshi interests to keep satisfy the Indian partners and friends.

So, if we take the idea that in the name of fighting against terrorism a severe game plan is in a process to be appeared in the political theatre of South Asia. Are our internal security fencings built up to the mark yet? Where as RAW constructed it's nets in so many layers of the power bases of Bangladesh. That danger will not keep Bangladesh untouched. Bangladesh should deport the illegal Indians very quick. In the meantime hundreds of Bangladeshis already started to be back from the Middle East countries, the numbers will grow very soon because of our recent foreign policies and dependencies on India.

Then what will be the next course for Bangladesh in front of the hardliner enemies, in inside and in international field now and in future?Let`s research for our first line of defense.

[ALOCHONA] Bangladesh has record number of child brides

Decide for yourself.
In those countries, they still eat, Worms, Rodents, Crows, Monkeys, Chimpanzees etc and even Moslims drink the blood of the Goat after slaughtering it. Do we do that kind of stuff?

RE: [ALOCHONA] Economics made simple (Plagiarism!)

Dear Alochak,

It appears that you are a "Shathirtho" of Mufassil Islam, who  acts to his "country of residence" as the then "Biharis of East Pakistan". "Spit where eat". You like it also, right? But why? He does not hesitate to ransack other's intellect while dislikes. Is that why he is so likeable to you? He designates himself as the "Human Right Advocate". But what he is doing is plainly making him a "Human Right Destroyer". He does not do anything for humans. His expressions do not sound like he cares for humans. All he cares for GOD. And that is for his own, not for anyone else. Crushing humans, he wants to earn more to offer to GOD, such that he can get better place in future than the others. So, he is working for self not for any one else. Therefore, why not he declares himself as a "GOD's Right Advocate" instead of a "Human Right Advocate".

Can people just talk over the issues being strictly within the context, not digressing and running here and there, and comparing apples to oranges.

I can not believe, the big mouths are so vain. When this will get changed ?????  Will ever?????

Thanks,
KR

Dear Alochocks:

Greetings from USA!

When someone copies from another source without citing the source or its author, in Higher Ed, we call it plagiarism, i.e., a fancy word for "stealing".  It would not surprise me at all if Mr. Turkmen has done this, who has called everyone in Alochona a liar, including the forum itself.  Not too long ago he even claimed that Alochona was spreading lies on the web.   If this is true its him who is putting out all the baseless, concocted lies about everything.   In my opinion he has exceeded all norms of professionalism and netiquette and deserves a good slap in the rear if not completely barred from this or any other forum he takes part in for his behavior.  The least one can do in this forum is respect each other and maintain civility without personal attacks.

Mr. Turkman seems to bear a "holier than thou" attitude and keeps pounding the forum with opinions that are not substantiated.  After reading so many of his offensive postings I must conclude that he is an "Equal opportunity offender or hater",  especially so for followers of the Islamic faith.  I know for sure he has not met a single challenge put forward by alochok Mr. Mufassil Islam.  I admire Mr. Islam for standing up for everyone.

Let there be peace!

That's all folks!

Nurul Hossain

First of all you changed what is written in original, secondly, Bangladesh is not mentioned into it. You added it by yourself.

Tipu Sultan, your grand father, would be angry over you for your cheating. Do you know that?

[ALOCHONA] More than 75% Indians live below poverty line

Yeah but IMF does not accept any Loan Payments in PPP Dollars and you can not import anything with your PPP Dollars. Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) Theory was developed by a crazy Economist of Pakistan and all big Executives of Multi Nationals in the world working abroad accepted it to get raises in their Salaries and Allowances for working overseas.

Purpose of finding-out GDP of a country is to find-out the Per Capita Income, not Purchasing Power Parity of a country. PPP Per Capita of India could be Rs. 95,000 a month but all it does is make people laugh at that lie since reality is not PPP but the real money.

--- On Wed, 9/10/08, Cyrus <thoughtocrat@yahoo.com> wrote:
Mr. Ali:

Several sources, actually. The Purchasing Power Parity (2006 estimated) of India is $4.156 trillion (CIA Factbook). By July 2007, India's stock market capitalization rose to over $944 billion and was expected to cross $1.1 Trillion by the end of the year (Morgan Stanley). IMF reported in 2007 that India's GDP (PPP) is $2.818 Trillion, while World Bank reported that India's GDP (PPP) for the same year is $3.092 Trillion.

Please note that while the fundamentals of GDP (PPP) calculations are the same, from macroecnomic point of view, each of these sources (i.e. World Bank, IMF, et. al.) consider different independent variables that contribute to the GDP.

Very funny.....

To whom you are responding? Where did you read statistics in my post, which you responding. Those who read your post, would be laughing on you. See who is saying what and then speak.

Anyway, if India and Pakistan thread is not appropriate than why did YOU argued? Well, let's have a little analysis of your insertions.

Yes, India has greatest democracy and now a days, Christians are enjoying this greatest democracy. Before them Muslims were tasting this democracy in Gujrat and elsewhere in India. By the way, Muslims are enjoying this democracy from the very first day. Did you notice the wonderful and beautiful treatment of Sikhs by this democratic country? I am sure you still remember that.

Yes, India's GDP is 3 trillion dollar. In the meanwhile, do you know, 1.5 trillion dollars of looted money is also present in Swiss banks. This is the money which had been looted by Indian politicians, military servants, civil servants etc etc. Please also note that his looted money is almost 50% of India's total GDP. Indians would feel proud of it. Isn't it?

Growing middle class.... yes growing middle class. Where India's population is increasing by millions every year, few of the poors of India manage to upgrade their social status and thus become a honorary member of so called middle class. Now, no doubt that the numbers of poors are increasing more than the number of middle class. But the reality is that middle class is increasing. Yes, yes and yes. It is increasing. With hundreds of billions dollars in foreign reserves, with hundreds of billion dollars in export, with thousands of billion dollars in Swiss banks and with 3 trillion billion dollars GDP, India is narrowly ahead of Pakistan in Per capita national income, government offers packages and incentives to the public to use government toilets just because they need to collect the samples or something else. I am sure that these payments of few rupees in a year will help to further increase the middle class.

World class education system and high literacy rates. Yes, this is also true. Those who do not have proper toilet facilities in their homes are well educated. Thanks to the Indian education system. Those, who sleep under open air and with dinner also very educated and do not sleep in the middle of the roads to show their civilised behaviours, those hundreds of millions of Indians are also well educated who are living below poverty line, those who killed just because they were Christians or Muslims or Sikhs but not Hindus, were also well educated etc etc.

And oh, I forgot to mention that India cannot obliterate Pakistan with its so called nuclear arsenal. As India will also have to face the same fate. Do you know the difference between the population of India and Pakistan? If one Pakistan will die in nuclear attack than 10 Indians will die in nuclear attack. India can target the whole Pakistan, infect only 160 people with its nuclear arsenal. But on the other hand, more than half of the Indian population is well in the range of Pakistan. What does it mean? Will you please dare to tell us? A hell not. Additionally, Pakistan's nuclear program is more sophisticated and advance than the Indian. India needs to wait for for good 10 years to overtake Pakistan. But until then..... hehehe

It is difficult to determine the actual size and composition of India's and Pakistan's nuclear arsenals, but NRDC estimates that both countries have a total of 50 to 75 weapons. Contrary to the conventional wisdom, we believe India has about 30 to 35 nuclear warheads, slightly fewer than Pakistan, which may have as many as 48.

So, Mr, Cyrus, who will obliterate who? There are hundreds of such research reports and articles are available over the internet. Increase your knowledge first and then speak. Additionally, geographical location of Pakistan also give certain advantage to us. If India every used Nuclear weapons against Pakistan and even if Pakistan do not respond, even then, India will have to face circumstances in the future and these suffering will start within few months. While most of the Indian targets are far away from Pakistani territories. So little need to worry about it. So, what I said, learn then speak. And Let's face it.

India's influence is already in danger. Did you read the news that Pakistan already supporting Srilanka in their efforts to take down separatists, prepared and planted by Indian Intelligence agencies. Do you know that Pakistan send almost three shiploads every month to them? India's presence in Afghanistan is only because of the Americans. how long they gonna stay there and how long India will be present in Afghanistan. Then Let's talk about Bangladesh. Bangladesh is not ready to accept the supremacy of India. And making its own independent foreign policy. India's wish to become a regional power is just a dream of the fool. That country could never become a regional power, who invest more than half of its military in such a tiny area like the valley of Kashmir. More than 7,00,000 Indian army men are their and this is not it. They conduct fake battles with bogus insurgents and obtains medals and promotions. And also kill each other and their seniors too. This can't be the characteristic of the regional power. Isn't it? Forget about the China, which is building its naval presence in the region. India simply cannot compete them. What you say?

I do not have to do pro-Pakistan propaganda. The fact is that the world have more information available than me. Whatever, you will write here will crosschecked over internet and People will automatically come to know that who id propagandists and who is not.

Our neighbour can not simply do it. Instead the intellectuals of our neighbours are telling us something very interesting. Did you read something about what they saying? Read the following

Kalki Autar Aur Mohammad

Ready and enjoy.

Asalam Alaikum to all Hindus and have a nice time.

Yes...like all countries, India has its home grown problems, and no I am not referring to sparks of religious and communal intolerance or rampant poverty. But India is also the largest democracy, with a GDP of almost $3 Trillion, a growing middle-class, world-class education system, world-class technology sector, better infrastructure than most South Asian countries, more literacy rate relative to its massive population, and oh did I mention that it can obliterate Pakistan with its nuclear arsenal? Let's face it. Geographically, we cannot ever shake-off the influence of India. Might as well deal with the situation and advance our own country.

On a separate note, stop the pro-Pakistani propaganda. Bangladesh needs to make its own mark. Why are we even talking about India or Pakistan in this forum? Got nothing productive to talk about Bangladesh? I am just tired of people's pro-Islamic bent 24/7. If you need spiritual redemption that much, go hide from the civilization. If your faith is really that flimsy that your neighbor could "force" you to convert, then you should worry about your own sanity. This is not a India-bashing forum. You would be welcomed in any other place, I am sure.

By the way, the economic data that you present have little or no validation when it comes to evaluating the overall socio-economic indicators of India. I suggest, for once, you pick up the "Post American World" by Fareed Zakaria and read the sections about India instead of reading baseless theories by pseudo intellectuals. Judge for yourself!

Dear Isha Khan.

Though the story of the poverty in India is true and the living conditions of good portion of there population are something more than worse. I do not believe that you need to copy paste the information, which is provided by the nut and world's most stupid person.

Mohammad Javed Iqbal, whose posts you copied here, claim that he was used to write articles in Daily Jang, which is very famous newspaper in Pakistan. Like S Turkman, his posts are also available in the archive of yahoo based group, PakistanFront. He is, infect, not a real person but a fake Pakistani. He introduced himself as a Column writer in daily Jang and then he tried to frustrate the group members by saying that all of us should go to Jang building in Islamabad and destroy it. Later, he banned from PakistanFront.

His tactics are very complicated, you can't read and understand him. He will write One thousands lines of true Islam and then will put his real massage somewhere into it. Similarly, now a days, he is intending to make as much reputation as possible. So that he can use such reputation for his hidden purpose. If you only SEARCH his name in google etc. I am sure you will find enough material about him.

I know that you do not really know about him. He made himself disputed by planting hate, frustration in the people. Once caught red handed, he is, since then, writing about Islam and the greatness of Pakistan and writing smilar articles about India. So, please be carefull about him and do not forward his massages or atleast read the contents carefully and then forward. He does not deserve it, by the way.

If you want to know more about him, please use google and search for his name. Read his posts all around the yahoo groups and many other forum like websites and observe by yourself. That, is this the way, someone present his country and people.

Thanks.

Saj

My heart bleeds for the Indian poor. Almost 90% Indians live below
poverty line. The government of India is callous and shameless when
it comes to rescuing its poors. To hide facts, it has arbitarily
fixed the povertyline at Rs 10 per day, whereas the standard fixed
by world bank and asian bank was US $ 1 which has now been increased
to 1.35 dollars due to increasing food prices.

I wonder how ungrteful and thankless we Pakistanis are who are far
more better off than the Indians.

Whereas the minimum wage in Paksitan is Rs 6000, Government of
India has fixed it at Rs 1250. No wonder, many emploees of Indian
government live below poverty line, not to speak of millions who
work in un-organized sectors or are unemployed. India's
population living below povertyline exceeds 90% because now the
Asian Bank has fixed povertyline at Us $ 1.35 per day per person.
An Indian expert has calculated Indian poverty in the
following manner:

No. Earnings of diffrent types of employees in India Converted into
Rs./month
1. Average cost of employee* in Air-India Rs. 53,000
2. Average cost of employee* in MARUTI UDYOG Rs. 24,000
3. Average cost of employee* in the MUMBAI MUNICIPAL CORP. Rs.
16,000
4. Minimum starting salary in the FIRE Dept. in Mumbai Rs. 7,000
5. Average earning of an Indian - US$ 440 per year or about (This is
based on a GDP of US$ 440 billion
and 1 billion people) Rs. 1,727
6. Minimum earning required, as per WORLD BANK, to live at above
poverty line, for underdeveloped
countries like India, China etc, about US$ 1.0 per day or US$ 30 per
month Rs. 1,410
7. MINIMUM WAGES, as per Government of India, for all the States,
about Rs. 40 to 60 per day per
person, average about Rs. 50 per day. For 25 days per month Rs.
1,250
8. POVERTY LINE definition, as per Government of India, see below
for
explanation, at Rs. 10 per day,
per person, approx. Rs. 300
Other related & relevant data In millions, people
9. Number of people, in India, who are below poverty line About 300
million (30 Cr.)
10. Number of people, in India, who work in the organized Public
Sector, i.e. with the Central and State
Government About 19 million (1.9 Cr.)
11. Number of people, in India, who work in the organized Private
Secto About 8 million (0.8 Cr.)
12. Number of people, in India, who work in the unorganized Sector
About 320 million (32 Cr.)
13. Number of people, in India, who are unemployed approximately
About
300 million (30 Cr.)
14. Number of JOBS which need to be created every year, to fulfill
the
aspirations of the people of India
About 10 million/yr. (1 Cr.)
15. Number of people BORN every year in India (China is only 10
million per yea About 27 million/yr. (2.7 Cr.)
16. Number of people, in India, who are below 35 years of age About
700 million (70 Cr.)

1. About us The World Bank's definition of the poverty line**, for
under developed countries, like India, is US$ 1/day/person
or US $365 per year. As per this definition, more than 75% of all
Indians are, probably, below the poverty line!
As per the Government of India, poverty line for the urban areas is
Rs. 296 per month and for rural areas Rs. 276
per month, i.e. people in India who earn less than Rs. 10 per day.
As per GOI, this amount will buy food
equivalent to 2200 calories per day, medically enough, to prevent
death. At this level of earning, even in a poor
country like India, survival on Rs. 10 per day is a nightmare! This
actually translates to Rs. 3650 per year or US $ 75 per year.
On what basis have our planners decided this definition of "Poverty
Line"? Does it mean that the person will get enough food to stay
alive? How and where is he or she supposed to cook it? What about
the minimum needs in education, housing, health services,
clothing, and other basic necessities? Are we supposed to live on
pavements and sleep under trees from birth till death? YOU BE THE
JUDGE!
The minimum wages in India, vary from state to state and city to
city, and average Rs. 1000 - 1250/month or
Rs. 12,000 - 15,000/yr. Or US $ 250 - US $ 300/yr. India's per
capita is US $ 440 per year. (China's is US $ 990).
If India could provide Roads, Electricity, TV's and Telephones in
every village, it would improve, education, health,
family planning, agriculture, animal husbandry, GDP and reduce
migration from vllages to cities.

*Cost of employee = salary & wages + all allowances including
housing + perks + retirement benefits.

**1 million = 1,000,000 or 10 lacs. 1 lac = 1,00,000. 1 crore = 10
million = 1,00,00,000.
