[ALOCHONA] Re: [Dahuk]: CEC admitted 90% turnout is abnormal

Having read the item from Shakil it is evident that there was big big Dal me kala in the 2008 election engineered by ... and implemented by sentinels of truth. The evil doers and criminals and congenital liar like the AGACHA(perhaps the CEC n TEAM are the right follower of the great liar Abdel goffooor chouidooory) cannot hide the the evil act. It is crystal clear that all had their hand tainted to act as per the instruction of the Mamoth Beast accross the border.

I was wondering that how a military strategist could become poll expert ???????????
The power behind bal's stealing the show rewarded him with the coveted post since he was trying to finger the beast by his defence stragetic analysis(I have seen many of his talk in the TV ) and guiding Bangladesh to be carefull of the bestial friend of bal.

Truth is very harsh and harsher than anything and everything in this world and it cannot be hidden or suppressed for long. History of thousands and  thousands years are the glaring example. Truth about the "STHULO MOTA  MOTA  JOGHONNO KARCHUPI" history will be unearthed sooner or later and these quislings will have reply to "Jonotar adalot".
It is for sure that the people had not that much ocean like love for bal and the great THIEF OF BAGDAD (Killer of Noor Hossain/Dr. Milan etc) that they would give them four fifth majoty unless invisible had dirty hand was there. It is a concocted game.

Dear All,

CEC himself admitted that 90% turnout in some places is abnormal. But with pale face he explained that it has been possible due to the spontaneous involvement of people. One of the journalist asked have you calculated to make such turnout possible what should be the rate of casting per minutes? Then CEC answered we haven't done it yet. Then the same jounalist asked how did it happen when it was reported that after noon many centres became empty. In answering the question EC Shakhwat asked what was the purpose behind his question. I have seen the press breifing live.

It is said that an evil doer always left behind some clues be it subtle or obvious. I think in the above mentioned points there may have some clues which may help to find out reasons behind this mysterious results of election 2008. I am trying to invest some time on it.

Many thanks Nakib for sharing the spreadsheet and your own analysis. I have been relentlessly trying to find out the real causes of shuttering defeat of one and the landslide victory of the other as opposed to a much presumed marginal victory/defeat of either. Your points are helpful for my solace and understanding until I can prepare my own report which I'm expected to complete after my ongoing discussions with cross-section of people in Bangladesh. One important issue becomes clearer as my discussion goes on that while all determining factors were tactfully and effectively utilized in favor of secular political bloc and their declared agenda the 4 Party Alliance didn't have any clue or forecast of the massive change in the minds of voters against it and as such it didn't take any appropriate measures to fix the deficiencies that could conveniently position it against this suffocating situation at minimum. A detailed analysis will inshaAllah follow soon. Regards. Wohid

Subject: [Dahuk]: Election 2008 result

Dear Brothers,

Assalamu alaikum. I was staring at the election result for a long time and tried to make some sense out of it. I was trying to compare Jamaat's 2008 election results with 2001 result. Let me give you the over all summary before I go any further.
The total vote of Jamaat in 38 seats this year is 3,278,459

Where as in 2001 election Jamaat received 2,427,574 in 32 seats (countig Latifur Rahman's sean as independent)

From 2001 to 2008 Jamaat's total vote increased by 850,885 which is a 35% increase from last election.
In each constituency Jamaat got an average vote of 86,275 votes in 2008 compared to 75,862 votes in 2001 which is a 14 % increase from last election.

From what I found at least 25 candidates manage to secure over 40% votes, In General most cases Jamaat's vote has increased from last election.
Our most secured seats like Pabna 1 (Ameer-e-Jamaat) saw a decline by 13,038 and Pirojpoor 1 (Delwar Hossain Saidee) saw a decline of 15,394.
But still this votes were enough for them to get elected. Along came the ghost vote. Casted vote increased by 31,511 in Pabna 1 and that did the trick.
Our significant vote loss came in Comilla -11 (Dr. Taher) our vote reduced by 30,483 in that seat. I was informed that vote casting was withhold for 2 hours in most of that area due to massive clash with Awami league.
If you look into each of these constituencies we got the maximum amount of vote we could get, there is no way to get more vote than this, still we lost because we had no clue about this ghost votes
The rigging this year was carried out in a very sophisticated  and calculated way. In each constituency the vote of Awami led alliance was jacked up by at least 30,000-40,000 through govt. polling and presiding officers who where not school or college teachers this time they were govt. officials.
I am attaching my analyzed spread-sheet here so some of you can use it and I will try to do further analysis as well.

Wasalam.

According to the BBC AL got 47%, BNP 32%, JP 7% and JI 5% others got ( including  NO) 9% out of total cast vote. Only AL's vote increased about 7%, on the other hand BNP, JP and JI's decreased.

While in 2001,  BNP got 41.40, AL 40% JP 7.22% and JI 4.28%

Re: [ALOCHONA] Re: [Amra-Bangladesi] Re: Notorious Moitta RAZAKAR lost a new AL candidate

distortion of facts.
both murder cases (15th Aug, and 3rd nov) were ran in traditional courts.  It takes time (compared to RAB's crossfire type justice) The first one is still in Supreme court. As the judges were incapable (legal or personal issues), the trial could not be finalized.
When AL made a procession to fasten the trial it was termed as conctemp to court by many people. so what do you want AL to do?

Thanks for your nice opinion.
We also agree with you.
Most of the common, honest, sincere, patriotic people also thinks like  you.
I have meet & talked with thousands of common people in Bangladesh – most of them (about 90%) will cast vote for "Boat" & "MOHAJOT"
Only the NaPaki Jamat-RAZAKAR-Badar (BNP is brew of them) will vote for "DHANER SHEESH" & "DARIPALLA"
Overt and covert agents-supporters-activists of BNP & NaPaki Jamat-RAZAKAR-Badar in EC & Administration are trying  their level best to reverse the election result..
But Bangalee are more conscious, watchful, prepared than of 2001, their evil plan will not executed so easily as it was done in 2001 election
So, please tell & advise your friends, relatives in Bangladesh to be more conscious, watchful, prepared against all evil plan of all overt and covert agents-supporters-activists of BNP & NaPaki Jamat-RAZAKAR-Badar in EC & Administration.

[ALOCHONA] Hasina invites Pronab Mukherjee to oath taking ceremony

Kolkata's largely circulated Bengali daily newspaper Anandabazar
Patrika (ABP) has reported on December 31 that Sheikh Hasina has
invited Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee to remain present in
her oath taking ceremony in Dhaka.

According to the ABP report, the grand alliance leader and Awami
League President Sheikh Hasina has made a phone call to the Foreign
Minister of India Pronab Mukherjee requesting him to remain present at
the oath taking ceremony of her next government.

This was reported in the (ABP) in its 31st December issue, which this
correspondent retrieved from Internet. The ABP correspondent Joyanta
Ghosal reported from New Delhi, quoting a source at South Block
(India's foreign ministry), that the Manmohan Singh government did not
want to go ahead with any great expectation about Bangladesh although
the grand alliance of Sheikh Hasina won a great victory.

The report states that Sheikh Hasina means the past illusion of
liberation war particularly to the people of West Bengal. The report
probably for the first time prefixed the word 'Bangabandhu' before the
name of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and said: "Yet the Bangalee Foreign
Minister of India does not want to go by emotion, though the daughter
of 'Bangabandhu' Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is poised to come to power."

ABP report says that after her victory in the election Sheikh Hasina
called the Bangalee Foreign Minister of India, "Dada, you will have to
come to participate in the oath taking ceremony (of my government)
with Boudi." But the Foreign Minister of India has not yet decided
whether he will attend the oath taking ceremony in Dhaka, though he
will surely visit Bangladesh before the elections of Lok Sabha, the
report added.

Several years ago when Pronob Babu switched his responsibility from
Defence Minister to Foreign Minister, the Foreign Minister of the BNP
government was the first among the foreign countries who sent him the
congratulatory message, the report said. The report added that India
had invited Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed to participate in the SAARC
Conference after the installation of the Caretaker Government (CG) of
Bangladesh to power.

The report said that, at that time a journalist, who is close to
Hasina, asked a question to this correspondent as to why India was not
coming forward in support of Sheikh Hasina openly in such a restive
situation. India did not do that. On the other hand, Foreign Minister
Pronab Mukherjee went to visit Bangladesh with relief materials.

During that visit it was seen that Pronob Babu was repeatedly
informing the CG about matters of mutual concern and he never wanted
to poke his nose into the internal politics of Dhaka. As Pronab Babu
says: "This is 2008, not 1971. At that time what India did that was
the necessity of the given circumstances. Now the situation has changed."

The ABP report further said: "Now India's stance is, India would
establish relations with whoever comes to power in the sovereign
neighbouring country. Even Delhi can not say that "it would not keep
relationship if military rule is imposed in any neighbouring country."

The report pointed out that once Indian premier Pundit Nehru opened
dialogue with Field Marshal Ayub Khan of Pakistan. Indira Gandhi was
compelled to initiate talks with Gen. Ziaul Haque after the hanging of
Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Again Atal Bihari Bazpayee gave democratic
recognition to Parvez Musharraf by according him red carpet reception
at the Agra Summit just after the wounds of Kargil war. Atal Bihari
Vajpayee government also maintained good relations with Bangladesh
during the rule of Khaleda Zia, and continued bilateral relations.

The report recalled that during the SAARC conference in Katmandhu,
Khaleda Zia listened to Vajpayee's prescription for curing her knee
pain. Again Brojesh Misra did not hesitate to visit Dhaka to warn
about terrorist activities against India."

The report stated: "Pranob Babu, a follower of Indira Gandhi, knows
Sheikh Hasina personally for a long time." It is doubtless that Sheikh
Hasina has an image of a 'daughter of the same household' to New Delhi
and West Bengal. It is obviously easy for India to go for diplomatic
negotiations with the same much known 'daughter of Mujib'. But the
Foreign Minister i.e. Indian government is aware of the limitations of
the future government of Dhaka.

The report further said in the past Hasina had to pay a heavy price
for her 'friend of India image', when she was in power. Hasina also
learnt a lesson from her past experience. This time Jatiya Party of
Ershad is the ally of Sheikh Hasina's Awami League, if Jamaat-e-Islami
is the ally of Khaleda Zia's BNP. Like the Jamaat-e-Islami, the Jatiya
Party also announced that they would introduce blasphemy law in their
party manifesto. And it was Ershad who declared Islam as the State
religion when he was in power. As a result the other religious
communities became second class citizens.

The report further added: "Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted to lead the
country towards the path of secularism. Delhi is doubtful about the
ability of the 'daughter of Mujib' to renounce the influence of the
fundamentalist forces, when the party of Ershad is her ally. Jatiya
Party of Ershad also bagged 27 seats; so it will have some kind of
control. Besides, there will be a control from the cantonment, whoever
may come to power, under the given political situation of Bangladesh.

Sheikh Hasina is also not beyond the control of the military, though
she is not like Khaleda. Keeping all these in mind India wants to
strengthen the relations with Bangladesh because of recent conflict
with Pakistan. The objective is that Pakistan can not use Bangladesh
as the field of its anti-India activities. Referring to the act of
terrorism on the soil of Bangladesh Pronab Babu has made it crystal
clear. He said, "The problem will be raised when new government will
be installed. Let us see how far we can achieve."

The Ananada Bazar Patrika report further stated: "This was the only
hope of Delhi that the military and Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh have
not been strengthened as in Pakistan." This time it is also clear in
the elections' result. The military wanted a fragile government.
People have voted en-masse in favour of the alliance of Sheikh Hasina.
The Jamaat-e-Islami has become obscure as it is seen in the results of
the votes. Yet it is not that the extreme forces of the party of
Ershad would try to hold the country inside 'veils'. Will Hasina be
able to complete the trial of the killers of Sheikh Mujib by
neglecting those extreme forces? Will Hasina be able to chant the
slogans of development by discarding the anti-Indian card, when
Norendra Modi is not stepping back from demolishing temple in the
interest of development ? South Block is waiting to see that."

[ALOCHONA] Bangladesh - the days ahead

idst the heartbreaking scenario of the Gaza tragedy came the news of Bangladeshi election results

Bangladesh - the days ahead

Aziz Huq

Amidst the heartbreaking tragedy unfolding in Gaza came the news of Bangladeshi election results. By most accounts the election was fair, participation was high and the result has been dramatic.

BAL deserves congratulations from all.

Memory flies back to the bitter days of the early seventies when BAL was in power. Since then there has been political merry go round between BAL and BNP.

BNP possibly paid the price for their corruption and poor management and the people voted BAL hoping for a better future.

But this time BAL has won big. Is this a mandate for change? If so, then the question is: Change from what to what. Some people are saying that this election is a mandate against Islam.

The BAL would be under pressure to push for constitutional change to bar Islam from the public square by banning Islamic parties and creating an atmosphere of hatred for Islam.

If the Islamic parties are banned then what might be the result?

There are two possible outcomes: Firstly, such a move might lead to their radicalization and eventual resurgence because Islam thrives if and when under attack. Secondly, such a move might also force them to choose the path of passive, peaceful programs. The second outcome might also reap huge dividends in terms of growth of Islam in Bangladesh. That might be greater than political power sharing.

But Bangladeshi people face harsh and desperate conditions: being victims of political and administrative corruption, massive economic disparity, extremely poor public service and generally callous administrative machinery. BAL needs to concentrate their energy in solving the basic needs of the people and serve them.

Going forward, in the days ahead great responsibility lies on the shoulder of the Islamic scholars and leaders. Days are going to be difficult in the near future. It is important for them to get out of their comfort zones and go out and meet the people, serve them, work for them, be their friends, understand their needs, be vigilant against local goons, protect the poor, the women and the minorities. Frustration leads to inaction and inaction leads to downfall.

They should understand that their primary role is not to win elections and form government and make money but to be active in society in spreading the message of Islam, speak up against social injustice, corruption, nepotism, cruelty, oppression and ignorance.

It is true that political power might help the cause of Islam but that is not an end by itself.

For too long Bangladesh has been led by mediocre leadership. The future leaders have to be different from what we see today. The affairs of leading has to be shouldered by a new generation of leaders.

But, where are the institutions to produce the future leaders? Can the Bangla medium schools, the English medium schools, the Madrasahs, the Cadet colleges, the military academies or the homes do the job?

The new generation of leaders will possess the spirit of sacrifice, hard work, honesty, trust, spirituality, humility and compassion. Grounded on a strong intellectual and spiritual foundation of the Quran and Sunnah, he will be pious, devout and knowledgeable. He will know how to inspire others, be concerned with the welfare of the people and be selfless. He will be a voracious reader. Above all he will be God conscience.

But there has to be institutions to build these foundations and prepare capable leaders to shoulder the massive task ahead. As the future leader grows he has to learn not only how machines work, the human body function, economies run, business/industries are managed but also inspire and motivate people. The institutions we see today are specialized in their narrow fields.

Bangladesh needs leaders with combination of faith, wisdom, honesty   knowledge and compassion.

But the Foreign Minister i.e. Indian government is aware of the limitations of the future government of Dhaka.

The report further said in the past Hasina had to pay a heavy price for her 'friend of India image', when she was in power. Hasina also learnt a lesson from her past experience. This time Jatiya Party of Ershad is the ally of Sheikh Hasina's Awami League, if Jamaat-e-Islami is the ally of Khaleda Zia's BNP. Like the Jamaat-e-Islami, the Jatiya Party also announced that they would introduce blasphemy law in their party manifesto. And it was Ershad who declared Islam as the State religion when he was in power. As a result the other religious communities became second class citizens.

The report further added: "Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted to lead the country towards the path of secularism. Delhi is doubtful about the ability of the 'daughter of Mujib' to renounce the influence of the fundamentalist forces, when the party of Ershad is her ally. Jatiya Party of Ershad also bagged 27 seats; so it will have some kind of control. Besides, there will be a control from the cantonment, whoever may come to power, under the given political situation of Bangladesh.

Sheikh Hasina is also not beyond the control of the military, though she is not like Khaleda. Keeping all these in mind India wants to strengthen the relations with Bangladesh because of recent conflict with Pakistan. The objective is that Pakistan can not use Bangladesh as the field of its anti-India activities. Referring to the act of terrorism on the soil of Bangladesh Pronab Babu has made it crystal clear. He said, "The problem will be raised when new government will be installed. Let us see how far we can achieve."

The Ananada Bazar Patrika report further stated: "This was the only hope of Delhi that the military and Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh have not been strengthened as in Pakistan." This time it is also clear in the elections' result. The military wanted a fragile government. People have voted en-masse in favour of the alliance of Sheikh Hasina. The Jamaat-e-Islami has become obscure as it is seen in the results of the votes. Yet it is not that the extreme forces of the party of Ershad would try to hold the country inside 'veils'. Will Hasina be able to complete the trial of the killers of Sheikh Mujib by neglecting those extreme forces? Will Hasina be able to chant the slogans of development by discarding the anti-Indian card, when Norendra Modi is not stepping back from demolishing temple in the interest of development ? South Block is waiting to see that."

1. Prof Ajoy Roy speaking from Dhaka on historic win of secular force in Bangladesh

Secularism returns to Bangladesh-Prof Ajay Roy speaking from Dhaka
Huge win of progressive force of Bangladesh marks as the most significant event of 2008 in South Asia-Prof Ajoy Roy is explaining significance of this major victory.

2. Fosaactv Editorial:

Birth of a new democratic Bangladesh

________________________________________________________________________

Dr. Biplab Pal , Editor Fosaac.TV, 30 December, 2008

Although today I am overtly delighted with landslide victory of progressive force of Bangladesh, I shared same anxiety of secular people of Bangladesh ever since, I was introduced to Bangladeshi eforums late back in 2004, when there was a hue and cry among rank and files of secular groups in Bangladesh that secularism is on retreat in the golden land of Bangla which boosts a poetic harmony for mankind from time immemorial. It is a land of Lalan Fakir, Rabindranath Tagor and Nazrul Islam who spoke of undivided humanity at best and broke the fallacious barrier of being a Muslim or Hindu. This is a land which spoke human being and humanity above all and everything. Unfortunate as it is, with birth of Muslim league, communal harmony of Bengal plunged into rock bottom in the beginning of last century. Perhaps many of my readers do not know, that in 1946, Bengali Muslims actually got caught up with sinister design of two nation theory for exploitation of Bangla by Punjabi Muslims and therefore, along with Hindu leaders like Sarat Bose, Bengali Muslim leaders actually pressed for an united Bengali nation refuting Jinnah's Pakistan and favoring Bengali nationalism over Islamic identity. This was turned down by Muslim league and Congress alike. Although Bengali nationalism in Bangladesh was nipped in the bud in 1947, it took them another 24 years before breaking up with falsehood of Islamic nation theory of Pakistan paying an untold cost of three million people-largest genocide since Holocaust. Although a secular Bengali nation was born in 1971 led by Seikh Mujibur Rahaman, soon military coup d'e'tet took over in 1975 killing the forces of secularism and modern Bangladesh reversing back to Islamic nation. Since these coups were aided by US-Pakistani nexus who were apprehended by Indian-Russian influence over Bangladesh which, at that time, was full of socialist zeal to reorganize the country in Soviet fashion, Ziaur Rahaman took no time to bring back Islam into politics because it is only in Islam, he would have created a new alternative power circle against Bengali nationalism. Like any other military general, Zia started off with populist measure but reversed the momentum of modern Bangladesh into Islamic Bangladesh. After General Ershad took over, he cunningly balanced the country between Islam and Bengali nationalism. However, he was so corrupt to begin with, he too failed the aspiration of common people and was deposed subsequently by a bloodless democratic coup. Since 1991, three elections were held in which BNP led by widow of General Zia and Awami League led by daughter of Seikh Mujibar Rahman shared their power and again failed common people's aspiration for a modern affluent Bangladesh by mindless corruption and complete collapse of state system. However, it is during this democratic time of '91 to 2006, independent media flourished in Bangladesh. This is the biggest gain of democratic era which would prove decisive during present election of 28th December, 2008.

Ever since Bangladesh politics was torn between bitter battle of Bengali versus Islamic nationalism, poor and marginal people of Bangladesh were increasingly frustrated who were asking for food and job rather than anti-Indian or pro Islamic jingoism of BNP or "living in the past ideologies" of the Awami League. It is only in Dec,2008 election, for the first time, Awami League recognized the need for a future looking vision and the fact that young generation is not looking forward to Islam or India or Bengali but a better material living. Their strategy paid off handsomely against the backdrop of outdated conspiracy theorists turned corrupt leaders of BNP and Jamati Islami. Added with it, was empowerment of women voters who outnumbered male and was well aware of danger posed on them by Jamati Islami through Sharia law. They thrashed out all the Islamic parties sending clear message to them that they want Islam as spiritual religion and they do not want criminals as torch bearer of Islam.

Today's victory of Bangladeshi secular modern force is a decisive victory over Islamist extremist force with 4/5th majority and after this, they can not have any excuse of why they could not turn around a modern a Bangladesh with all needed mandate with them. Now they have the opportunity to root out reactionary force that opposed Independence of Bangladesh. As Leon Trotsky once said " in a serious struggle there is no worse cruelty than to be magnanimous at an inopportune time"- I believe, for progressive force in Bangladesh, that time is now to eradicate poverty and malice of religious extremism. If they fail to listen to marginalized people once again as they did in 1996-2001, they too, will be trashed in history.

For a long time secular intellectuals groused over reversal of attainment of '71 freedom struggle-well people of Bangladesh has given them back what they wanted. So ball is in their court to take Bangladesh to 21st century. I hope with decimation of Islamist force, Hasina, now can be assured that people are asking for "dal vat" (lentil-rice) and they do not want religious appeasement politics which is a contagious virus in whole south Asia. I am also glad that people of Bangladesh realized hunger is the real enemy and propaganda of Islam or nationalism is a tool for the rulers to mislead them from their fundamental right for food and future.

Joy Bangla!
