Re: [mukto-mona] Re: {PFC-Friends} Dissimulation of a past Marxist and present Islamic apologist

Dr. Ashrafi believes - all evil deeds, done by radical Islamists, are being done because of Israelis. She is surprised why others cannot see this truth, and, she also cannot find anything wrong in her religious scriptures,  which others are pointing out.
Based on above observations, I conclude, she is a blind believer in her faith, and does not need to think about implications of her religious scriptures in the lives of billions of people around the world. I feel sorry for her state of mind, and there are many such intellectuals around us.

I am a little surprised at Dr. Ashrafi's statement that she did not understand either Mr. Chowdhury, or me. If I understand her correctly, she takes us both to task, while I had actually written a whole rejoinder criticising him! She and Mr. Chowdhury should really be kindred spirits. Both are devoted to Islam and they both agree  on "what even an idiot knows" is the real cause "of all these terrorism, which is the "invasion and destruction of Syria, Iraq, Libya, etc and all these are done to strengthen Israel." End of story?
This discussion can be protracted. To make it short, and trying to rise above the level of idiocy, let me place a few questions before the learned Dr. Ashrafi. The ISIS ( to take the most brutal of the lot) has pledged to annihilate the Shia, bring the the present regime in Iraq to an end, and extend their sway over territories up to Iran. It has committed enormous atrocities against the Shia in Iraq, bombing even mosques and funeral processions. It has committed genocide against minorities like the Yezidis. Has that by any chance anything to do with Zionist-American conspiracy?
Muslims should instead cast their eyes on historical Islam. The Shia-Sunni animosity, the cause of so much hatred and bloodshed, for example, is rooted in history. So is the inhuman practices of ISIS, like treating female captives as slaves and concubines, a practice for which it finds ample precedence in Islam itself. So is the supposed quest of ISIS for the purest Islam. Muslims with some knowledge of history would remind themselves of the fitna, the civil war, that quickly followed the reign of Caliph Uthman, which was a quest for pure Islam. ISIS imitates.  Merely blaming zionists and imperialists is no substitute for introspection and critical thinking that Muslims utterly lack today.
This may also be a proper place to comment briefly on Serajul's -- sorry he provides only this name-- comments that followed Dr. Ashrafi's. He laments what he perceives as Islam- hating among the "so-called" secularists in Bangladesh. Hate is not easy to define. Some would consider criticism as hate. But in the matter of hating, Islam does not take a back seat.In the narrative of the Koran itself one finds, in 9: 28, this: "O ye who believe! Truly the idolaters are unclean..."  Perhaps one should not be too thin-skinned, and should take criticism in its stride, and when necessary pay back the critic in his own coin.

I really donot understand Mr Chowdhury or Mr Mahfuzur Rahman.

How can you be free thinkers when your sole purpose is to denigrate Islam. Forget the apology by Mr Ghaffar Chowdhury, even an idiot knows the real cause of all these terrorism is the invasion and destruction of Syria, Iraq, Libya etc and all these are done to strengthen Israel. The recent Wikileaks are saying the same thing. All good human beings, religions including Islam condemn violence for violence as a resort. Leaders who practice and preach love like the Pope, top Muslim and Jewish leaders should get together and talk about measures to stop violence and promote peace and harmony.

Historical facts very difficult to change. One can spin them to some extent but when rigorous analysis and logical reasoning are done, lies and distortions seem to find its way to dustbin. Comically, Mr. Chowdhury has tried to create something on a very shaky ground... assuming Bangladeshi/Bengalee critical minds would give him a free pass because of his former phony Marxist title? Well, he has exposed his weakness and we know where he really stands. He has single-handedly maligned his own legacy.

Yes, very well written article with a critical eye with the historical facts and reasoning! Obviously, some people would love to forget the gory chapter of 7th century and put lipstick on a pig to sell it to another naive buyer with no past and present memory. Did he succeed? I doubt very much. But a freedom of speech is always a freedom of speech and  I respect that freedom.
