Re: [mukto-mona] Could Trump and Putin work together over Syria?

Trump may well be a pawn of Putin.

You are exactly right about Russia & US relation.
Those who still consider Russia as enemy of USA are those old politicians, who have not refreshed their cold-war memory. They believe Russia is still Soviet Union, and it is still promoting communism and communist hegemony around the world. These are the people, who forget Russia is just another competitor in the world market, just like China, India, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, etc. There is another issue, these politicians are serving corporate interests, which depend on the cold-war politics; many of them have their own interests to purge Russia to avoid competition.
So, in this very important foreign policy, Donald Trump is exactly right. He is also right to reform NATO; it needs to fight rising religious fundamentalism around the world, not Russian aggression, which is non-existent.

I liked this analysis by the BBC.

I do not think that Trump has a chance of winning the upcoming presidential election. But I think he is right with his desire to be friendly with Russia. I do not see why Russia should be treated as an enemy by the West/USA now. Has Russia done anything bad to the West/USA over the last two decades?
