সহিংসতা ছেড়ে নির্বাচনে অংশ নিতে বিএনপি'র প্রতি নাসিমের আহ্বান -
বিএনপির ২০১৪ সালের সাধারণ নির্বাচন বর্জনকে একটি ভুল সিদ্ধান্ত বলে অভিহিত করে স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার কল্যাণ মন্ত্রী মোহাম্মদ নাসিম বলেছেন, দেশের কোথায়ও বিএনপির স্থান নেই।
তিনি বলেন, 'কোথায়ও বিএনপি নেই। না জাতীয় সংসদে, না রাজনীতিতে। এর কারণ তাদের চেয়ারপার্সনের ভুল রাজনৈতিক সিদ্ধান্ত। নির্বাচন বর্জন করে তারা কিছুই অর্জন করতে পারবে না। তাই আমি তাদেরকে সহিংসতার পথ পরিহার করে নির্বাচনে অংশ নিতে অনুরোধ করছি।'
আন্তর্জাতিক গবেষণা দিবস-২০১৬ উপলক্ষে নগরীর শাহবাগ এলাকায় বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিব মেডিকেল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় (বিএসএমএমইউ)-এর মিলন হলে অনুষ্ঠিত এক আলোচনা সভায় প্রধান অতিথির বক্তৃতায় তিনি মঙ্গলবার এ কথা বলেন।
বেগম জিয়াকে উদ্দেশ্য করে নাসিম বলেন, 'আপনি যে পথ অনুসরণ করছেন তা জনগণের কোন উপকার বয়ে আনবে না। বরং আপনি জনগণের আস্থা ও বিশ্বাস হারাবেন।'
তিনি বলেন, 'আওয়ামী লীগের জাতীয় সম্মেলনে বিএনপি'র একটি প্রতিনিধিদল আসবে বলে আমরা আশা করেছিলাম, কিন্তু কেউ আসেনি।'
নাসিম বলেন, প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার গতিশীল নেতৃত্বের কারণে বিশ্বের সব শক্তিশালী দেশ বাংলাদেশকে সহায়তার জন্য এগিয়ে আসছে।
তিনি বলেন, আওয়ামী লীগের জাতীয় সম্মেলন দলের ভাবমূর্তি উজ্জ্বল করেছে এবং দেশকে গণতন্ত্রের পথে এগিয়ে নিয়েছে।
১১টি দেশের রাজনৈতিক দলের নেতারা সম্মেলনে এসে দলের সভানেত্রী প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার প্রশংসা করেছেন। তারা সম্মেলনের সফলতা কামনা করেছেন। তারা বলেছেন, আওয়ামী লীগ দেশকে এগিয়ে নিচ্ছে এবং তারা জনগণের প্রত্যাশা পূরণ করতে পারবে।
বিএসএমএমইউ'র বিভিন্ন ফ্যাকাল্টিকে গভীরভাবে গবেষণা করার আহ্বান জানিয়ে মন্ত্রী বলেন, মেডিকেল সাইন্সের গবেষকদের অবশ্যই নতুন নতুন রোগ প্রতিরোধের উপায় খুঁজে বের করতে হবে এবং কম দামে জনগণের স্বাস্থ্য সেবা প্রদান করতে হবে।
তিনি বলেন, স্বাস্থ্য সেবা পাওয়া জনগণের একটি মৌলিক অধিকার। একজন স্বাস্থ্যবান মানুষই দেশ গঠনে কার্যক্রমে ভূমিকা রাখতে পারেন।
বিএসএমএমইউ'র ভাইস চ্যান্সেলর দেশে চিকিৎসায় উচ্চতর শিক্ষা ও গবেষণার জন্য বিভিন্ন ফ্যাকাল্টি সম্প্রসারণ করতে ১০ কোটি টাকার একটি তহবিলের দাবি জানান।
অনুষ্ঠানে অন্যান্যের মধ্যে বক্তৃতা করেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মঞ্জুরি কমিশনের ভারপ্রাপ্ত চেয়ারম্যান ড. মোহাম্মদ ইউসুফ আলী মোল্লা, বাংলাদেশ মেডিকেল রিসার্স কাউন্সিলের চেয়ারম্যান এবং প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সাবেক স্বাস্থ্য ও সমাজকল্যাণ উপদেষ্টা সৈয়দ মোদাচ্ছের আলী, বিএসএমএমইউ'র প্রো-ভাইস চ্যান্সেলর (গবেষণা ও উন্নয়ন) প্রফেসর ড. শহীদুল্লাহ শিকদার ও বিএসএমএমইউ'র প্রো-ভিসি (প্রশাসন) ড. এম শরফুদ্দিন আহমেদ।
