You can resort to falsehoods and ugly personal attack (specifying my gender and age) in order to justify your own untenable anti-Muslim racist position. I am against all forms of racism. I was a founding member of mukto-mona discussion group back in the late 80s, and Avijit and I were dedicated to the principle of secularism and pluralism in Bangladesh.
Every single thing you said here is a proven lie.
Salimullah Khan and I were not on the same political train during the Babri Masjid debacle in 1992. This is public knowledge. I could not possibly have said the kind of childish "whataboutary" type of thing that Sitangshu is accusing me of. Moreover, I was an active member of Concerned South Asians, a group of Indian, Bangladeshi, and Pakistani activists and academicians from around Columbia Univ. fighting against communalism in the subcontinent. Siddhartha Varadarajan was a graduate Journalism student at CU then and was one of the leaders of activities around the City.
I remember saying the opposite at several public protest meetings -- I said that Jamaat and BJP/RSS are in collusion -- we had reports of Motiur Rahman Nizami and Lal Krishna Advani having had a meeting prior to the demolition of Babri. For both BJP and Jamaat a secular Bangladesh is an anathema. I always emphasize in everything I write and say, that the common, ordinary deshi people are not communal. Certain religio-fascist elements in both India and Bangladesh want to see an agenda of communal violence kept alive and well in both countries. Ershad's illegal 8th Amendment to the Constitution in 1988 declaring Islam as a State Religion caused us Bangladeshis a lot of pain. Nirmul Committee went to the Court with a petition questioning its legality. But Ershad's declaration in Bangladesh was greeted with glee by the Hindutwabadi crowd in India and in the Indian community in NYC. Their glee was rooted in the proposition << If Pakistan and Bangladesh can be Islamic States the why can't India be a Hindu Rashtra? >>
Salimullah was a staunch Farhad Mazhar bhakto at the time. I am on record for being against Farhad's subtle communal preachings -- a long, deeply researched article written by me was carried personally by Poet Shamsur Rahman (visiting New York at the time) and handed to Prof. Humayun Azad in Dhaka, who then placed it in the quarterly magazine Purbabhas, and the article was published in three sequels in around Oct.-Nov, 1989. Salimullah Khan stopped speaking to me since the publication of this article. I was not living in Dhaka then, but I heard that it had a tremendous impact on readers and provided the intellectual stimulus to the fall of Ershad's regime.
Reasons you cite as your justification for demonstrating in front of Trump Tower asking President-elect Donald Trump to come and rescue the hapless Hindus in Bangladesh are feeble and baseless in terms of any reality whatsoever. But most of all they are reflective of your mindset which expose you as not a very compassionate or patriotic person. This foot-licking of Donald Trump will not go down very well, Sitangshu, and you're doing our Bangladeshi Hindu citizens a disservice!

I would like you to try to PROVE that I am, and have been, and that my whole family, had been engaged in "defending the Islamist terrorist". Please do this, Sitangshu. It is your duty to protect the community from Islamist Terrorists -- you clearly make a living out of it!
You have openly and publicly asked President-elect Donald Trump to protect the Hindus of Bangladesh and intervene in the internal affairs of Bangladesh (even if it means Military intervention by the U S A --like bombing BD to smithereens).
If you cannot truthfully prove that I am some kind of Islamist Terrorist, then you are slandering a good name, and that is not only immoral, but illegal. You are also bolstering a heinous falsehood --that the whole of Bangladesh has turned to communal violence, and that there is no public outrage against these targeted violence and mayhem against Hindu temples and community members. There is, actually, a HUGE public outrage all over the countryside against these communal incidents. In your nefarious efforts you will be joined gladly by BNP-Jamaat Zindabadwallas living abroad who are bitterly opposed to the present Govt. and looking for any excuse to demonize Sheikh Hasina's regime. (I wouldn't be surprised to learn that you are in their pay roll).
Despite the recent uptick in temple desecrations done by deliberate, organized anti-national enemies, Bangladesh is the most non-communal country in the subcontinent, and all observers, including our non-Muslim Chief Justice, and the Nobel Laureate economist Amartya Sen, have testified to that.
Please send me a Legal Notice with proven allegations that I am an Islamist Terrorist.
