Needless to say that this basically a bogus excuse. Did US bomb Vietnamese to stone age in the name of fighting communism? Yes! Did UK colonize Indian subcontinent for two hundred years? Yes, it did! Did UK and Japan exploit China? Yes, you bet. How come China, India, Vietnam and others could come from the abyss and having a booming economy while Pakistanis and other whiners are engaged with killing of Shias and other minorities as if 7th century has not left us even in 21st century? Do they really want to build a prosperous country or kill and plunder in the name of God? How long should we blame the bogey man, West? We know blacks want reparations for the slavery. What do Muslims want? Hefty reparations/Jijia taxes? Because others did not submit to the greatness of Islam? Because Westerners have used their brains and talents to create a better civilized society that they do not want to share with the Muslims? What is it?

It's a false statement.
In 1745, Abd al-Wahhab, a devout Sunny Muslim of Saudi Arabia, felt the need to form a new stream of Islam, different from the moderate one being practiced at the time; he called it Wahabism, intended to practice the purest form of Islam, as existed during the time of the Prophet Muhammad. So, Islamic extremism was borne out of that Wahabi sect.
It is correct, West has used these extremists to their benefits in the past, while they were fighting communism around world. In recent past, Regan has used them in Afghanistan to fight against Russian invasion in that country.
Anyway, none of these historical facts does matter much now. Islamic extremists are here; the million dollar question is - how to handle them.
I hope, you guys are not implying that, West has created them, and, West should deal with them.
