The arrest of an Awami League leader is not surprising. Nor does it assure any lessening of barbaric mobs that would find any excuse to commit heinous crimes against non-Muslims in Bangladesh. That is why the country needs intellectuals that would promote human intelligence, sense of respect for human dignity and rights of all kinds of people, and humanly compassion, as opposed to blind faith in Islam and in what is perceived to be Islam.

নাসিরনগরে হামলায় আ'লীগ নেতা আটক
 ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়ার নাসিরনগরে মন্দির ও বাড়িতে হামলার ঘটনায় অন্যতম অভিযুক্ত আওয়ামী লীগ নেতা মো. সুরুজ আলীকে গ্রেফতার করেছে জেলা গোয়েন্দা পুলিশ।
 গত রবিবার রাত সাড়ে ৭টার দিকে জেলা গোয়েন্দা পুলিশ উপজেলার চাপরতলা গ্রাম থেকে তাকে গ্রেফতার করে। রসরাজের ফেসবুকে ধর্মীয় অবমাননাকর পোস্ট
দেয়ার জের ধরে ৩০ অক্টোবর নাসিরনগর সদরে দুটি ধর্মীয় সংগঠন সমাবেশ আহবান করে। একটি সমাবেশে সুরুজ আলী উসকানিমূলক বক্তব্য দেন বলে অভিযোগ
রয়েছে। এর পরপরই হামলার ঘটনা ঘটে। এর আগে তিনি দলবল নিয়ে সমাবেশে যোগ দেন।: জেলা গোয়েন্দা পুলিশের ওসি মো. মফিজ উদ্দিন জানান, গোপন সংবাদের
 ভিত্তিতে চাপরতলা এলাকা থেকে সুরুজ আলীকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়। হামলার ঘটনার ভিডিও ফুটেজে সুরুজ আলী জড়িত বলে প্রমাণ রয়েছে। এছাড়া বিভিন্ন সূত্রে তার
জড়িত থাকার প্রমাণ মিলেছে। হামলার ঘটনার পরপর অভিযোগ ওঠায় নাসিরনগরের চাপরতলা ইউনিয়ন আওয়ামী লীগের সভাপতি সুরুজ আলীকে সাময়িক বহিষ্কার
করে ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়া জেলা আওয়ামী লীগ। একই সঙ্গে উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সহ-সম্পাদক আবুল হাসেম ও হরিপুর ইউনিয়ন আওয়ামী লীগ সভাপতি মো. ফারুক
আহমেদকে সাময়িক বহিষ্কার করা হয়।

Ms. Majid, intellectuals like you need to do a lot better than fighting 'against the hanky-panky going on about Rasarj's indictment'. They need to work on how and why hundreds and thousands of Muslims form mobs and perpetrate barbaric crimes against communities of non-Muslims with the excuse of accusing just one of the community members of hurting their stupid religious sentiments. As I already said, Bangladesh needs a mass humanization of Muslims.

Please refrain from calling me anti-Muslim or Islamophobe; I wish justice, peace and prosperity for all kinds of humans, including Muslims.
