Re: [mukto-mona] Camel's back is about to break with US asking EU to contribute to its own defense?

Well, Mr. Rahman, let me tell you a true story.

In 1991, in the independence day celebration of Bangladesh at the MIT auditorium in Cambridge, MA, USA, a speaker read some pieces of advice from a magazine published by a Bangladeshi Islamic group. Most of the audience had evidently not read the magazine, and they shouted same, shame to the those pieces of advice and to the Islamic group. However, after that the editor of that magazine came forward and explained that those words of advice were from the Koran and the Hadits.

There is no need to tell the next chapters of the story, but let me give you a piece of advice. Tell someone to give you a translation of the Koran in a language that you understand without telling you that it is that book, so that you could apply your common sense on what you read. After applying your common sense on what you read, find out what book it was. That should change your mind on the one-liner that you posted here; although depending on the extent of your ignorant Islamic brainwash, you might look for contexts that might allow you to find what you read acceptable or even respectable.

I actually agree with much of what Mr. Juncker said. American politicians seem to narrow down the concept of security to the military too much. Whether it is gun ownership in the USA or bombing foreign territories, the net gainers are the weapon makers and traders. How much the weapons business helps the regular citizens of the country is questionable. I think the USA should reduce spending on NATO, and let the Europeans do the same. Diplomacy with Russia should be the way to go to reduce the perceived or real threat from that country. As for fighting Islamic spoiling of the West, anyone calling himself/herself a Muslim should get a tough test to prove that he/she is fully respectful of the liberty in the country that he/she wishes to immigrate to, and that he/she has no intention of practicing or promoting any unjust, hateful and barbaric edicts of Islam.

Time for free ride is over? Why EU would not pay for its own defense? Why US taxpayers should be burdened with the expenses while Europeans would take six weeks vacation every calendar year?
