Europeans love to talk about standing up against the bad bear but they (most of them) have not been paying at all their due shares. Now, Juncker wants Americans to work with Russians to cut down the defense expenses? Isn't what Trump wants? Why that is not a palatable option for Europeans? Check out Poles, Latvians and others talking tough against the Russians? They all want Russia to be caged with real weaponry. But, with what? With mere talk?
Look, Russians know European weakness whether it is in regards to their will to fight or weaponry. These people would never fight another war with Russia but they rather talk tough to please their empty egos. Honestly speaking, these Europeans would not be able to stand up against the Russian bear for a day or so.
The problem is that the big-mama (US) is already in bankruptcy. It can't even take care of its own people' jobs and healthcare issues. Can it borrow more from China/Japan to save EU from Russian claws? I think the message is already delivered and it is up to Germans, French and English to decide whether they want to pay for their foolish ego or not? It is not an American problem.

I actually agree with much of what Mr. Juncker said. American politicians seem to narrow down the concept of security to the military too much. Whether it is gun ownership in the USA or bombing foreign territories, the net gainers are the weapon makers and traders. How much the weapons business helps the regular citizens of the country is questionable. I think the USA should reduce spending on NATO, and let the Europeans do the same. Diplomacy with Russia should be the way to go to reduce the perceived or real threat from that country. As for fighting Islamic spoiling of the West, anyone calling himself/herself a Muslim should get a tough test to prove that he/she is fully respectful of the liberty in the country that he/she wishes to immigrate to, and that he/she has no intention of practicing or promoting any unjust, hateful and barbaric edicts of Islam.
