"Beef-Ban" has been there in India forever, whether it is right or wrong.
Don't that make you ponder - why it has been such a critical issue now?
I do think, this issue is potent enough to incite large scale Hindus communalism, which can destabilize India, benefitting radical Islamists' causes. Islamists have lost in the Middle East, and they need to open conflict in another front, so foreign radical mercenaries can readily join. Pakistan can't wait!
You always judge issues superficially. Don't be such gullible.
