Re: [mukto-mona] Re: Hijab in London

What an impressive looking and smart group of students; society was progressive then.  Unfortunately, Islamic fundamentalism has been engulfing the society since then, and it is driving women into darkness faster. It's all happening under a progressive party in power, which underscores the extent of middle-eastern petro-dollar pressure. The society is hostage to the Islamic fundamentalist.

I've said many times, hijab is an instrument of modern Islamic fundamenatalist politics. It is a sad fact that Bangladesh, which fought so hard against any national religious identity in 1971, should find itself in the grip of such politics of misogyny in the name of religion.

This might be a symptom of low self confidence?  Adopting an Arabian traditional dress code with the resolute abandonment of their own past and heritage is pretty silly and shallow. Making a statement of " I am a proud Muslima" would not further any Muslim cause in this fast paced technological world...where knowledge rules, not the religiosity. I would like to see Muslimas becoming ready for space travel than indulging more into the same garbage that has failed Muslims for last 1500 years.

This is a picture of a group of Bangladeshi Brits. Out of 25 women, 15 are wearing hijab. Mashallah!

This trend in the West started after 1973 when Muslim Brotherhood got empowered and penetrated the West with the implicit blessings of establishment of quite a few Western countries.

The way hijab is spreading among Western Muslims, maybe in the next millennium, there would hardly be any Western living Muslim woman without hijab.

The wheelers and dealers of the global Ummatic power center had done a good job in changing the cultural landscape of Muslims in the Western countries. 😊
