[mukto-mona] Then the innocent departed souls will be blessed !!!

Just take Golam Azam and Gang to Ashulia and burned them alive !!! Then the innocent departed souls will be blessed !!!

To: BANGLADESH MINORITY WATCH RABINDRA
Subject: URGENT ACTION : Advocate Rabindra Ghosh of BDMW and his associates physically assaulted by Police officers at Perojpur on 24.11.2012

Adv. Rabindra Ghosh (62) and his accompanying assistant - Rabindra Nath Baral (30) have been physically attacked and injured by Akhtaruzzaman -Superintendent of Police and by his police officers under his control at his Office in Perojpur District on 24th of November, 12 at about 1-20 p.m. while a conversation between Akhtaruzzamn and Adv.Rabindra Ghosh regarding Minority repressions, land grabbing, desecration of Hindu Deities, rape and gang rape of minority victims at Motbaria Upazila was going on. Physical attack started by police while I tried to contact with Home Secretary and I.G. of Police over phone. Rabindra Nath Baral has been seriously injured by DB Police and Adv. Rabindra Ghosh was slightly injured who was released instantly from Perojpur Sadar Hospital. Telephone set of Adv. Rabindra Ghosh was snatched away by the S.P. Perojpur. Rabindra Nath Baral's health condition was deteriorating.

Facts of the case:

I, along Rabindra Nath Baral-Human Rights Activists went to meet with Mr.Akhtaruzzaman,S.P. on the application of Minority victim - Bijoy Krishna Baral and Bibek Baral whose landed property (0.66 acres) minimum cost of land Taka One crore - in Ward No.7 -Motbaria was forcefully occupied by powerful  perpetrators on 12.03.2012 namely 1) Md. Majibar Rahman son of late late Hajee Mozaharuddin Howladar, 2) Md. Harun-ar-Rashid son of Abdus Sattar, 3) Md. Fazlul Hoque Moni son of late Abdul Khaleque Meah, 4) Md. Lokman Khan son of late Abdul Majid Khan, 5) Md.Ariful Hoque, son of late Anwarul Hoque, 6) Sajjad Kabir son of Md. Soharab Hossain Howladar, 7) Abdul Kalam Baidya son of Abdul Malek Howldar, 8) Rafiqul Islam son of Rafique Zammardar, 9) Shaheen Zammardar, 10) Md. Zakir Hossain (Kalam) son of Abdus Sattar, 11. Md. Abu Saleh son of late Shamdul Hoque, 12. Md. Ripon son of Abdul Hashem, 13. Md. Nazrul Islam son of Md. Anwar Hossain.

We have scrutinized the documents of Bijoy Brishna Baral and Bibek Baral who got decree by the Civil court of Pirojpur on 29.02.12 in Title Suit No. 231 of 2006. But the defendant Uttam Kumar Shikari having been lost his case, without any lawful authority, given anti-dated power of Attorney to those 13 Muslim perpetrators on 12.04.12 to enjoy the properties illegally.  It is curious to note that Motbaria police took a false case No.25 dated 13.3.2012 under section 143/447/323/379/354/506 of Penal code filed by Uttam Kumar against 1) Bibek Bara, 2) Bijoy Baral, 3) Bishnu Baral, 4) Mostafa 5) Yousuf Ali, 6) Jentu Biswas and arrested innocent victim 1) Bijoy Baral giving opportunity to perpetrators easily to enter into the lands of the minority victims.

I along with Rabindra Nath Baral, Bibek Baral, Bijoy Krishna Baral went to meet with Mr. Akhtaruzzman S.P.,Perojpur at his chamber at about 1.20 p.m. who gave us appointment to discuss relating to land grabbing, false cases against Bijoy Baral, gang rape of minority Hindu girl - Ms. Sanjita Kulu (13) and forceful occupation of Hindu Temple at  Motbaria Upazila. Mr. Akhtaruzzaman became angry while I enquired about false case initiated by one Uttam and Dulal against Bibek and Bijoy Krishna Baral, S.P. continued to utter " Chup Beta" stop Nonsense. S.P. called some subordinate police constables to beat me and they (I will be able to identify those who assaulted me during attack) started to kick me in a solitary room by his leg and pushed me to waiting room and blocked the door from inside, snatched away my Mobile set.  In the meantime Rabindra Nath Baral was dragged into another room and he has been mercilessly beaten by those police constables by pistol but and lathi resulting injuries on his bodies and head" Mr. Akhtaruzzaman also tried to extract confessional statements intimidating other two victims namely a) Bibek Baral and b) Bijoy Krishna Baral. Those two victims will depose the actual scenario during attack on us.

I, on 24.11.12 instantly communicated with the Home Secretary Mr.C.Q.K.Mustaq Ahmed, Mr.Khondakar, I.G.of Police, Mr.Phani Bhushan Chowdhury, I.G. of Police (Co-ordination) over their Telephone numbers and informed them the situation. They assured me that they will look into the matter. On 25th Nov,12, I have also informed this matter to Mr. Shamsul Hoque Tuku – Deputy Minister for Home over his cell number and he also assured me that necessary action would be taken.

I also also communicated with Mr. A.K. M. Awal, Member of Parliament, Perojpur and Ms. Shadhana Halder- Member of Parliament over phone about this matter.

Local Perojpur police took no G.D or cases against those attackers from us as the attackers are all police officers. We also went to Press Club and met with some journalist who informed us that they will not be able to publish news without permission from the Superintendent of Police, Perojpur and advised us to convene a press conference at Dhaka for taking necessary action against the police officers.

I have also gone to Mr.Biplab Goswami, District and Sessions Judge of Perojpur over his telephone who became astonished hearing the news of police assault.

I have also appraised the situation to Adv. Sayed Majibur – President of Perojpur Bar Association who also became astonished having been informed about the situation.

Bangladesh Minority Watch is very concerned about this Police assault on the Human Rights defenders at Perojpur and we condemn this attack and necessary steps for arrest Mr. Akhtaruzzaman – and his associates responsible for assault on Human Rights defenders should be made and punishment of such offence should be done and compensation should be awarded for their medical treatment.

Previously also police in many times  tried to assault me and our human rights defenders in course of our humanitarian activities in the ground zero level in Bangladesh since 2002 to 2012.

URGENT ACTION in this regard is solicited:

Through:

Adv. Rabindra Ghosh

Founder President- Bangladesh Minority Watch (BDMW)

RE: [mukto-mona] Civil Society if favour of banning Jamaat-Shibir's terroristic politics !!--The left and secular elements always wanted banning Jamaat

Here we go again! Q.  Rahman flattering himself! How can I, or anybody, have any 'prejudice' against him?  He is not my neighbor, relative or kutumb, or a poet, artist, musician, teacher, social worker, political activist or writer -- people I closely or loosely associate with in my real life. I only know him on the internet.  Day after day, month after month, year after year, we are exposed his dishonesty, lack of any original thinking, and plain 'munafequi' when it comes to topics on religion.
His poor grasp of English (or any language) prevented him from getting the message that we do not want any lecture on "democracy" from the likes of him or S A Hannan (a gun-runner for Islamic terrorists in BD and an ardent supporter of Genocide 1971).

Earlier Q Rahman  spoke in ridiculous, and utterly meaningless tautology that left unexplained what he meant by 'religion'. << The beauty of democracy is people have reasonably  fair chances to judge politicians based on their performances and judge them accordingly. This "Safe guard" will guard the safety of any community. >>  We do not want to tolerate such bs anymore.

Let us stop the EVIL of Jamaat and all other religious parties destroying our nation by spreading murder, arson, anarchy and mayhem.

STOP European style fascism in the guise of Jamaat-i-Islam!

  Q. Rahman. the proseletyzer wants to lecture us about democracy

>>>>>>>>> When you start this way, I must be doing pretty bad job here. You are still with your prejudices intact. :-)

O K.  Tell me, in your lecturing tone, how does a political party based on a religion function in a democracy?

>>>>>>>>>> Pretty simple if we are sincere. They "Play" by the SAME rule like every other parties and even communists. All parties and ideas should be welcomed as long NONE of them are violent in their ways. Once a party resort to violence, they should be dealt with by local laws.

Right now, pretty much all political parties are involved in corruption and violence.

As much as I disagree with BJP, they should be allowed to share their ideas and last polls suggested that, most Indians are not supporting their ideas.

We have to have a "Level playing field" for ALL parties. Problem starts when our politicians use one law for their party members and use other laws for opponents. That is NOT democracy. We have vibrant media and they are one of the most effective safeguards to uphold democracy.

Shalom!

Where would the 'beauty' reside?  In India there is BJP flaunting the inability of Babasaheb Ambedker to stop the formation of religion-based political party from Indian Constitution due to the badmaishi of Hindu Mahasabha in 1947.  Where do you see the 'beauty' in BJP politics in the functioning of current Indian democracy? How would you show us the 'beauty' in the politics of the crooks, criminals and mass-murderers among Jamaat members in Bangladesh?

Jamat was banned before, and the preachers of scientific socialism, JSD, gave them shelter.  That is the reality of politics in Bangladesh.  To render a snake harmless, one should remove it's poison tooth instead of killing it.

The demand of the civil society is to put Jamat out of politics. Is that a stupid demand also, in your view? You said - it will be stupidity to ask Jamat not to use religion for politics - because it can't survive without religion. That's what is the ultimate goal of the civil society, Mr. Chakraborty.
The later part of your remaks indicate that you are worried about consequences of Jamati-politics in the society; yet, you are not ready to put them out of politics. What are you trying to say, Mr. smart guy?

No sir. I did not say that. What I meant is this: asking Jamaat to strip itself off Islsmic agenda is sheer stupidity. Jamaat as its very name implies cannot go without Islam on its plate. Worse, the kind of Islam Jamaat caters is of worst kind. Once they come to power, they will a few Muslim sects illegal. They will not stop there. Just remember what Mr. Hannan believes. You will see all of them.

What you are saying is that there is no secularism in those societies, because secular political party manifestos do not go on a head on collision with the Islamic religious edicts. That's not the criterion of secularism. You can be secular without violating tenants of Islam. A secular manifesto should comply with all religions.
If Jamat manifesto cannot do that, and becomes oxymoronic, it will cease to exist as a political party. Do not go overboard with your generalization.

Jamaati politics without religious agenda is an oxymoron. The manifestos of our so called secular parties even are not free from religious agenda. For example, no law will contradict the Koran and Sunnah. This simply reflects the social reality and the existing power politics.
Democracy is obviously not perfect. But in the absence of any other better alternatives, we will have to rely on the people's verdict.

You want to leave the decision about politics with religion onto the people of Bangladesh, knowing that even the most educated Western countries do not leave this decision to the people. I know nothing will happen to Jamat, because Bangladeshi constitution is handicapped by the Awami-party amendments, and cannot force Jamat to reform their party manifesto. Ideally, Jamat should be allowed to stay as a political party without religious agenda in their political manifesto.

Your views should influence social and political conditions in the country; that's where we need them mostly, but - I still disagree with you on the point that a country should be run by a religious group.

>>>>>>>>>>>> In a "Free" and democratic country, this sort of decisions should be left unto people of those countries. As long religious or non-religious groups are not preaching violence or hate-mongering, they should be allowed to stay within politics.

In a free, moderate, democratic country people do "Evolve" in their thinking and religious (And secular) parties have "Opportunity" to evolve as well. As long they stay away from violence, we should embrace all people. If any of them can gain trust of mainstream population, they should be offered a chance to rule.

Hannan Shaheb,
I like most of what you have said in your attached article. I like the moderation in the approach to deal with the non-Muslim in an Islamic country, which is a progressive step in the right direction. This is in keeping with the situation in the modern world, but - my worry is - these are views and interpretations of the moderate Islamic scholars, like you, and these interpretations can change suddenly under the more fundamental (strict) interpretations of the Islamic-laws. The recent example is Taliban-rules in Afghanistan. I know you disagree with the implementation of the Islamic laws by the Taliban, and I commend you for that. I strongly agree with you that Taliban rules were dead on arrival; they were 100% incompatible with the modern world.  I can't help but admire your efforts to bring moderate Islamic views into the main-stream. Your views should influence social and political conditions in the country; that's where we need them mostly, but - I still disagree with you on the point that a country should be run by a religious group.
With best regards,

Respected brother Jiten sb,
Best regards. I do not want to pursue the matter. Let us agreem to differ.
I explain only one point.Dhimmi is a term used to denote protected minorities in conquered territory of Muslims .
All modern Muslim states have been achieved by joint efforts of Muslims and non- Muslims against colonial masters. So there will be no Zimmi now ) Please read Rasail wa Masail by Syed Abul Ala Maududi) .There was no Zimmi in Madinan state established by Prophet as it was not conquered territory)
Please see the attached article where there is discussion on Zimmi.

Re: [mukto-mona] FW: "Society made him a criminal and a murderer''

I had a soft spot for Ajmal Kasab and argued against his death sentence.

>>>>>>>>>>> I tried to think of any legitimate excuses for this guy but could NOT find any. What he did was morally and religiously WRONG!

Had it been a person from another faith did similar things, I would have said the same. No excuses. Unless he was mentally unstable, I don't see any reason spare these kind of people. They hurt Islam and Muslims more than anyone. Probably millions of innocent Indian Muslims are facing discrimination and hatred for his Quixotic adventure. These idiots can be spared ONLY if they are movie characters but no one should be allowed to malign a good religion such ways.

I do not know how much CIA was involved in it (If at all) but a healthy adult Muslim should know such activities are FORBIDDEN in Islam. [ Source: Al Qur'an 5:32 ]

May be it was his baby-face, his poor family background, the story of how he got sucked into the criminal gang, or his demeanor since his capture, or my hatred of CIA's deep involvement with the drug trafficking, I had a soft spot for Ajmal Kasab and argued against his death sentence. During the presentation of my side of the argument in general against capital punishment on my india-unity yahoogroups forum, I noticed that the members with Hindu-nationalist-mona were viscerally opposed to allow any humanity to a "Islamic terrorist."

A question of rights and wrongs

V. R. KRISHNA IYER
"Society made him a criminal and a murderer''
Ajmal Kasab was hanged to death in the early hours of November 21 as a terrorist and as a killer. When he grew up in rural Pakistan, he had had only his primary education, and his parents were poor.

He was doubtless driven to despair, eventually becoming a hardened operator. Society made him a criminal and a murderer. He was of course guilty of the 26/11 round of killings and havoc in Mumbai.

Nevertheless, killing him secretly should be seen as injustice. Handing down the death sentence is a crime, and resort to the means of hanging makes it even more horrendous. In many ways, we are all guilty — all of humanity that abetted his killing and burial but could not reform him.

In my humble view, all humane societies, especially a society that swears by the Indian Constitution that is rooted in compassion, should abolish judicial executions. Mahatma Gandhi was against it. So was Jawaharlal Nehru.
Much more humane and touching has been the kindly attitude of Sonia Gandhi. Rajiv Gandhi was brutally killed, and some of those who plotted and moved for the murder were sentenced to death.

Sonia Gandhi, a mother with a gentle heart, wrote thus to President K.R. Narayanan, spelling out her views against the hanging of her husband's murderers.
She wrote: "[The] Supreme Court of India has confirmed the death sentence on four persons who were responsible for the assassination of my beloved husband Rajiv Gandhi.

"Our family does not think that the four held responsible for the heinous murder of my dear husband must be hanged. My son, my daughter or myself do not wish that the four murderers be hanged.
"In particular, we do not at all wish Nalini, mother of an eight-year-old child, to be hanged. I am aware how my children miss their father and we do not want another child to lose its parents together and get orphaned.

"As you are well aware, my children Rahul and Priyanka and myself are suffering untold mental agony day in, day out due to the loss of our beloved Rajiv. But neither my children nor myself would like the persons responsible for my husband's tragic end to be hanged.
"Hence I humbly request you to stop their hanging and grant them pardon when they seek your clemency."

When I was Kerala Home Minister in the 1950s, I had occasion to handle some pleas for commutation of the death sentence. In all those cases, I favoured the avoidance of the death sentence. Even as the State Governor was trying to express his views in one particular case, I intervened and said, no. In two cases I had strongly opposed the death sentence, and my view appealed to Lord Scarman, sitting in the Privy Council. He wrote to me an unusual letter mentioning how he was deeply touched by my passionate opposition to the death sentence.

Indeed, half the number of nations of our world have abolished the death sentence — including Great Britain. Lord Mountbatten was treacherously assassinated. But the assassin was not given the death sentence. For, Great Britain had abolished the death penalty. Even in the United States, many States have no provision for the death sentence. I have no doubt in my heart that Gandhiji's country should not have killed Ajmal Kasab, who was after all young, and belonged to a poor family. Pakistani or not, he was a human being.

[mukto-mona] Just $1,200 for Each Factory Fire Life

Just $1,200 for Each Factory Fire Life

ABC News - Just $1,200 for Each Factory Fire Life (ABC News)

A company that makes clothes for Sean Combs' clothing brand ENYCE and other U.S. labels reassured investors that a factory fire that killed 112 people over the weekend would not harm its balance sheet, and also pledged to pay the families of the dead $1,200 per victim.

In an announcement Monday, Li & Fung Ltd., a middleman company that supplies clothes from Bangladesh factories to U.S. brands, said "it wishes to clarify" that the deadly Saturday night blaze at the high-rise Tazreen Fashions factory outside Dhaka "will not have any material impact on the financial performance" of the firm.

The fire broke out on the ground floor of the nine-floor building as hundreds of workers were upstairs on a late-night shift producing fleece jackets and trousers for the holiday rush at American stores, including Wal-Mart, according to labor rights groups. Fire officials said the only way out was down open staircases that fed right into the flames. Some workers died as they jumped from higher floors.

After reassuring investors about its financial health, Li & Fung's statement went on to express "deepest condolences" to the families of the dead, and pledge the equivalent of $1,200 to each family. The company also said it would set up an educational fund for the victims' children.

As reported on "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" earlier this year, Bangladesh has become a favorite of many American retailers, drawn by the cheapest labor in the world, as low as 21 cents an hour, producing clothes in crowded conditions that would be illegal in the U.S. In the past five years, more than 700 Bangladeshi garment workers have died in factory fires.

"[It's] the cheapest place, the worst conditions, the most dangerous conditions for workers and yet orders continue to pour in," said Scott Nova, executive director of Worker Rights Consortium, an American group working to improve conditions at factories abroad that make clothes for U.S. companies. Nova said the fire was the most deadly in the history of the Bangladesh apparel industry, and "one of the worst in any country."

Today, U.S. companies extended condolences to the families of the victims, and scrambled to answer questions about the dangerous factory that had been making their clothes.

Wal-Mart inspectors had warned last year that "the factory had violations or conditions which were deemed to be high risk," according to a document posted on-line.

Yet Wal-mart clothing continued to be made at the factory, according to workers groups who found clothing with Wal-Mart's private label, Faded Glory, in the burned out remains along with clothing for a number of other U.S. labels, including ENYCE, Dickies and a brand associated with Sears.

Wal-Mart confirmed Monday that its clothes were being made at the Tazreen factory. Even though Wal-Mart is famed for maintaining tight control over its supply chain, the company said its clothes were being made at the plant without its knowledge.

A Wal-Mart spokesman said that the Tazreen factory "was no longer authorized to produce merchandise for Wal-Mart. A supplier subcontracted work to this factory without authorization and in direct violation of our policies. Today, we have terminated the relationship with that supplier. The fact that this occurred is extremely troubling to us, and we will continue to work across the apparel industry to improve fire safety education and training in Bangladesh." Though Li & Fung is known to supply clothes to Wal-Mart, and to have subcontracted work to the Tazreen factory, Wal-Mart did not name the supplier it had fired.

Sears initially told ABC News the company "does not source from this factory. In addition, Sears recognizes that fire safety is a critical international issue that we intend to address through specialized training for management in those factories that produce merchandise for Sears Holdings."

Told that lingerie labeled True Desire, a Sears brand, had been found in the burned factory, a Sears spokesman said "any merchandise found at that factory should NOT have been manufactured there and we are currently investigating further." Sears said it had not used the Tazreen factory since 2011.

The president of ENYCE clothes, which is owned by Sean Combs, extended the firm's "deepest condolences [to] the families of the victims" and confirmed that ENYCE Kids is licensed to Li & Fung, "which operates, produces and oversees all manufacturing for the brand."

"Compliance and safety are important to us," said Jeffrey Tweedy, president of Enyce, "and we expect all our licensees to have in place compliant standards for fire and safety conditions at any factory that may produce our brand."

Labor activists also said they found garments with the Dickies label in the factory, and provided photos. Dickies said in a statement that the company's "thoughts and prayers" were those affected by the fire, but that the company had concluded its production schedule "with this vendor earlier this year."

The statement also said that "it is standard operating procedure at Williamson-Dickie to ensure the global vendors and suppliers we work with provide a safe work environment in accordance with all applicable laws and fair labor practices."

ABC News reached out to Li & Fung's New York office for comment, but messages left Monday were not returned.
