পলাশী যুদ্ধ : ইতিহাসের সত্য-মিথ্যা

পলাশীর যুদ্ধের ১৩৯ বছর পর্যন্ত ইতিহাসে উদ্দেশ্যমূলক সত্য গোপন করে শঠতার পলাশীর যুদ্ধের অনুকরণে প্রহসন-প্রতারণা, মিথ্যাচারের ইতিহাস রচিত ও প্রকাশিত হয়েছিল। সমস্তই সর্বৈব নির্ভেজাল মিথ্যাচারের ইতিহাস। সিরাজউদ্দৌলার প্রতি ঘৃণা-বিদ্বেষ প্রচারণা এবং ইংরেজ বেনিয়াদের শ্রেষ্ঠত্ব প্রমাণের ভ্রান্ত ইতিহাস। ইতিহাসের প্রকৃত সত্য কখনো স্থায়ীরূপে চাপা দেয়া যায় না। কালক্রমে প্রকৃত সত্য উন্মোচন হবেই। বিজয়ীরা নিজেদের মহান ও মহৎরূপে প্রচারণায় ইতিহাস রচনায় তৎপর হয়। বিজিতদের বিরুদ্ধে অপবাদ-বিরূপ বিষোদগারে নিজেদের গুণকীর্তনের ইতিহাস রচনায় নানা উপায়ে মদদ জুগিয়ে থাকে। বিজয়ী এবং বিজিতদের ইতিহাস তাই ভিন্ন, পরস্পরবিরোধী এবং চরম বৈপরীত্য। বাংলার ইতিহাসে পলাশীর যুদ্ধ অত্যন্ত তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ। বঙ্গদেশ দখলের পরই বেনিয়া ইংরেজ ভারতবর্ষ দখলের অভিপ্রায়ে উচ্চাভিলাষী হয়ে ওঠে এবং লক্ষ্য অর্জনে নানা প্রতিরোধ-প্রতিকূলতা পেরিয়ে ভারতবর্ষকে করতলগত করে। প্রবল প্রতিরোধে স্বদেশি বীরদের বীরত্বপূর্ণ অবদান-আত্মত্যাগের পাশাপাশি বিশ্বাসঘাতকদের দেশদ্রোহী নানা অপকীর্তিতে সহজ ও দ্রুত সম্ভব হয়েছিল ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানির ভারতবর্ষ দখল অভিযান। 
১৭৫৭ সালের ২৩ জুন পলাশীর যুদ্ধে পতন ঘটে বাংলার এবং নবাব সিরাজউদ্দৌলার। ১৭৫৬ সালে উত্তরাধিকারীদের সঙ্গে বিবাদ-লড়াইয়ে আলিবর্দী খাঁ'র দৌহিত্র তরুণ সিরাজউদ্দৌলা সিংহাসন অধিকার করেছিলেন। নবাবের খালা ঘসেটি বেগম, যোধপুরের ধনাঢ্য মাড়োয়ারী-মুর্শিদকুলি খাঁ যাকে "জগৎ শেঠ" উপাধিতে ভূষিত করেছিলেন, সেই জগৎ শেঠ এবং তার ভ্রাতা মহতব রাই ও স্বরূপ চাঁদ, রাজা জানকীরাম, রায়দুর্লভ, রাজা রামনারায়ণ, রাজা মানিক চাঁদ, নবাবের প্রধান সেনাপতি মীর জাফর, উমি চাঁদ, রাজা রাজবল্লভ প্রমুখ ষড়যন্ত্রকারীদের নানা প্রলোভনে বশ করে পলাশীর প্রহসন যুদ্ধে নবাবকে পরাজিত করে ইংরেজ বাহিনী। মীর জাফরের বিশ্বাসঘাতকতায় মাত্র তিন হাজার সৈন্যের ক্লাইভের বাহিনীর কাছে বিনা যুদ্ধে নবাবের ১৮ হাজার অশ্বারোহী ও ৫০ হাজার পদাতিক বিশাল বাহিনীর পরাজয় ঘটে। পলাশীর যুদ্ধে মীর মদন এবং মোহনলালের বীরত্বপূর্ণ অবদান স্মরণীয়। মীর জাফরকে বাংলার মসনদে নবাবের আসনে অধিষ্ঠিত করার প্রতিশ্র"তির বিনিময়ে ষড়যন্ত্রকারীদের তালুবন্দী করে প্রহসনের পলাশী যুদ্ধে ইংরেজ বেনিয়ারা জয়লাভ করেছিল। ইংরেজদের হাতের পুতুল নবাব মীর জাফরের নবাবি বেশিদিন স্থায়ী হয়নি। অচিরেই তাকে পদচ্যুত করে তারই জামাতা মীর কাসিমকে নবাবের আসনে অধিষ্ঠিত করা হয়। এজন্যে মীর কাসিম বাংলার গভর্নর ও কাউন্সিলকে দুই লক্ষ পাউন্ড এবং বর্ধমান, মেদিনীপুর এবং চট্টগ্রাম জেলা কোম্পানিকে হস্তান্তরে বাধ্য হন। স্বাধীনচেতা মীর কাসিম মূলত নবাবি ক্রয় করেছিলেন। ইংরেজদের ক্রীড়নকের বিপরীতে বঙ্গের প্রকৃত শাসক হতে চেয়েছেন, যেটা ইংরেজ বিরোধিতার শামিল। ইংরেজবিরোধীদের সঙ্গে জোটবদ্ধ হয়ে ইংরেজবিরোধী সমর অভিযানে অংশগ্রহণ করেন। পরিণতিতে তাকে হারাতে হয় নবাবি এবং বক্সার যুদ্ধে পরাজয়ের পর দিল্লিতে পলায়ন করেন। বক্সার যুদ্ধের পর ব্রিটিশ আধিপত্য প্রতিরোধে নিম্ন গাঙ্গেয় উপত্যকায় আর কেউ ইংরেজবিরোধী প্রতিরোধ গড়ে তুলতে পারেনি। এর পরের ইতিহাস ইংরেজদের শোষণ-লুণ্ঠন, অর্থ-সম্পদ, পণ্য ব্রিটেনে পাচারের ইতিহাস, যার মেয়াদকাল পৌনে দুইশত বছরের ইংরেজ সাম্রাজ্যের শাসনামল। 
পলাশী যুদ্ধ জয়ী ইংরেজ বেনিয়ারা তাঁবেদার লেখকদের দিয়ে ইতিহাস রচনায় অধিক আগ্রহী হয়ে ওঠে। নিজেদের গুণকীর্তন এবং সিরাজউদ্দৌলার প্রতি চরম বিদ্বেষপূর্ণ নানা অভিযোগে তাকে অভিযুক্ত করা হয়। সে সকল ইতিহাসে লম্পট, মাতাল, চরিত্রহীন, নিষ্ঠুর, অপদার্থ, অর্বাচীন ইত্যাকার নেতিবাচক অভিধায় সিরাজউদ্দৌলাকে অভিহিত করা হয়েছিল। প্রাসাদ ষড়যন্ত্র ঠেকাতে ইংরেজ বেনিয়ারা বাধ্য হয়ে যুদ্ধে অংশ নিয়ে রক্ষা করেছিল বঙ্গভূমিকে। ইংরেজ তাঁবেদার-আজ্ঞাবহ লেখকদের রচনায় অমন কথাই প্রকাশ পেয়েছিল। ইংরেজ বন্দনায় লেখক তালিকা দীর্ঘ, উল্লেখযোগ্য ইউসুফ আলী রচিত 'তারিখ-ই-বাঙ্গলা-ই-মহব্বত জঙ্গী'। আমির গোলাম হোসেন খাঁ তাবাতাবাই রচিত 'সিয়ার-উল-মতাখেরিন' (শেষ শাসকবর্গের জীবনী)। ইংরেজ জর্জ উডনির নির্র্দেশে মুনশি গোলাম হোসেন সেলিম জইদপুরী রচিত 'রিয়াজ-উম-সালাতিন'। এ ধরনের ভারতীয় প্রচুর লেখক ফার্সি ভাষায় ইংরেজদের দেয়া নজরানার বিনিময়ে মিথ্যা, বিকৃত ইতিহাস রচনায় অংশ নিয়েছিলেন। তাদের প্রত্যেকের রচনায় নবাব সিরাজউদ্দৌলার প্রতি তীব্র ঘৃণা, বিদ্বেষ, বিষোদগার পলাশীর যুদ্ধের সকল দায় নবাবের ওপর চাপিয়ে ইংরেজ বেনিয়াদের দায়মুক্তি দেয়া হয়েছিল। ইংরেজরা উদার, বিশ্বস্ত, সহনীয় এবং সম্মানীত। তাদের মধ্যে শঠতা, প্রতারণা, মন্দ জ্ঞান নেই ইত্যাদি। 
পলাশীর যুদ্ধের অর্ধশতাব্দীর পরও বাংলা ভাষায় সিরাজউদ্দৌলার বিরুদ্ধে কল্পিত নেতিবাচক সমালোচনামূলক গ্রন্থ রচনা করেছেন রাজীবলোচন মুখোপাধ্যায়, পণ্ডিত মৃত্যুঞ্জয় বিদ্যালঙ্কার প্রমুখ। মৃত্যুঞ্জয় বিদ্যালঙ্কার 'রাজাবলী' গ্রন্থে উল্লেখ করেছেন, 'বিশিষ্ট লোকেদের ভার্যা, বধূ ও কন্যা প্রভৃতিকে জোর করিয়া আনাইয়া ও কৌতুক দেখিবার নিমিত্ত গর্ভিণী স্ত্রীদের উদর বিদারণ করানেতে ও লোকেতে ভরা লৌকা দেওয়ানেতে দিনে দিনে অধর্ম্ম বৃদ্ধি হইতে লাগিল।' এমন সর্বৈব মিথ্যাচারে সিরাজউদ্দৌলার চরিত্র হননের কল্পিত কাহিনী সমাজে সিরাজউদ্দৌলা বিদ্বেষী মনোভাব তৈরি এবং সাম্প্রদায়িকতার পরিবেশ ক্ষুণেœর প্রাথমিক অপচেষ্টা। পরবর্তীতে হিন্দু-মুসলিম দুই সম্প্রদায়ের বিভাজন সৃষ্টিতে চতুর ইংরেজ 'ভাগ কর-শোষণ কর' নীতির নিষ্ঠুর বাস্তবায়ন। পরিসমাপ্তিতে ১৯৪৭-এ ভারত বিভক্তি-রক্তাক্ত দেশভাগ এবং ভ্রাতৃপ্রতিম দুই সম্প্রদায়ের রক্তাক্ত দাঙ্গা। চাটুকার-তাঁবেদার ইতিহাস রচয়িতা-লেখকেরা নির্জলা মিথ্যাচারে ইতিহাস বিকৃত করেছিল; ইংরেজদের আদেশ-নির্দেশে এবং ইচ্ছাপূরণে। বাংলার জনরোষ থেকে দখলদার ইংরেজদের ইমেজ রক্ষায় এবং প্রহসনের পলাশীর যুদ্ধের ঘৃণিত দায় থেকে ইংরেজদের অব্যাহতি লাভের অভিপ্রায়ে মিথ্যাচারের ইতিহাস রচনায় ইংরেজরা প্রত্যক্ষ মদদ জুগিয়েছিল। সিরাজউদ্দৌলা সম্পর্কে এ সমস্ত ফরমায়েশি ইতিহাসে সীমাহীন মিথ্যাচারের পরও স্বয়ং ইংরেজদের স্বীকারোক্তিতে জানা যায়, সিংহাসনে আসীনের পর নবাব সিরাজউদ্দৌলা কখনো মদ্যপান করেননি। অথচ লম্পট, মদ্যপ ইত্যাদি কুখ্যাতির বোঝা তাকে যুগ-যুগান্তর বহন করতে হয়েছে। পলাশীর যুদ্ধকে কেন্দ্র করে বিকৃত ইতিহাস রচনায় ইংরেজ এবং তাদের এদেশীয় অনুসারীরা যে বার্তাটি দৃষ্টান্তরূপে স্থাপন করতে চেয়েছেন তার মূল কাঠামোটি ছিল বণিকবেশী ইংরেজদের আগ্রাসন এবং মুর্শিদাবাদের প্রাসাদ চক্রান্তকে অবিচ্ছেদ্য করা। প্রাসাদ চক্রান্তের ঘটনা না ঘটলে ইংরেজদের পক্ষে সমর ও রাজশক্তিরূপে আবির্ভূত হবার প্রয়োজন হতো নাÑ এই নির্জলা মিথ্যাচার বিশ্বাস করার বিন্দুমাত্র যুক্তিসঙ্গত কারণ নেই। শুধু ভারতবর্ষ নয়, বিশ্বজুড়ে ইংরেজদের উপনিবেশ সাম্রাজ্য প্রতিষ্ঠাই প্রমাণ করে ভারতবর্ষে বাণিজ্যের উছিলায় দেশ দখলই ছিল তাদের মূল উদ্দেশ্য। কার্ল মার্কস ১৮৫৩ সালে বলেছেন, 'ইউরোপের দুই জোটের উপনিবেশ ও বাণিজ্যিক প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতায় ও যুদ্ধে ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানি পরিণত হয়েছে সমর ও রাজশক্তিরূপে।'
বণিকবেশে ফরাসি ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানি সর্বপ্রথম ভারতবর্ষে ঔপনিবেশিক সাম্রাজ্য প্রতিষ্ঠার উদ্যোগ নিয়েছিল। এরপর ফরাসিদের অনুসরণে ব্রিটিশ ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানি ১৭৪০ খ্রিষ্টাব্দে মাদ্রাজে ফরাসি সামরিক অফিসারদের অধীনে ভারতীয়দের যুক্ত করে গড়ে তুলেছিল সৈন্যবাহিনী। ফরাসি সৈন্যবাহিনীর রণনৈপুণ্যে ব্রিটিশরাও সেনাবাহিনী গঠন শুরু করে। ইউরোপের দুই পরাশক্তিই বণিকের ছদ্মবেশে ভারতবর্ষে এসেছিল। তাদের উভয়ের উদ্দেশ্য ও লক্ষ্য ছিল অভিন্ন। সৈন্যবাহিনী গঠনের মূলে ছিল সামরিক অভিযানে ভারতবর্ষ দখল এবং ঔপনিবেশিক সাম্রাজ্য প্রতিষ্ঠা। ফরাসিরা নিজেদের মধ্যকার দ্বন্দ্ব বিবাদে ব্রিটিশদের পরাস্ত করতে পারেনি। অস্ট্রিয়ার উত্তরাধিকার নিয়ে ১৭৪৪ খ্রিষ্টাব্দে ফরাসি-ব্রিটিশদের মধ্যকার যুদ্ধ ভারতবর্ষে অবস্থানরত ফরাসি ও ইংরেজদের মধ্যে প্রভাব ফেলেছিল। ভারতবর্ষে তারা পরস্পর যুদ্ধেও লিপ্ত হয়েছিল। কিন্তু ফরাসিরা ইংরেজদের কাছে অনেকগুলো যুদ্ধে পরাজয় বরণে এবং অর্থনৈতিক কারণে রণেভঙ্গ দিয়ে ভারতবর্ষ দখলের আশা ত্যাগ করে। শক্ত প্রতিপক্ষহীন সুযোগের মওকায় নানা যুদ্ধ-বিগ্রহে, শঠতায়-প্রতারণায় ব্রিটিশরা ভারতবর্ষে উপনিবেশ গড়ে তুলেছিল। একে একে গোটা ভারতবর্ষ ইংরেজদের অধীন হয়ে যায়। 
মৃত্যুশয্যায় নবাব আলিবর্দী খাঁ সিরাজউদ্দৌলাকে ইংরেজ বেনিয়াদের অশুভ তৎপরতা শক্ত হাতে দমন এবং মাতৃভূমি রক্ষার তাগিদ পর্যন্ত দিয়ে গিয়েছিলেন। নবাব আলিবর্দী খাঁ'র নির্দেশ মোতাবেক নবাব সিরাজউদ্দৌলা ইংরেজদের নিয়ন্ত্রণ ও দমন করতে চেয়েছেন। পারেননি দরবারের গোপন শত্র" ষড়যন্ত্রী-বিশ্বাসঘাতক চক্রের কারণে। শুরুতে কূটনৈতিক পর্যায়ে আলোচনার মাধ্যমে ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানির সঙ্গে শান্তিপূর্ণ মীমাংসার নানা উদ্যোগ ভেস্তে যাওয়ায় রাষ্ট্রের সার্বভৌমিত্ব রক্ষার তাগিদে সিরাজউদ্দৌলা অতি অবাধ্য-বিপজ্জনক ও রাষ্ট্রের বিরুদ্ধে ঔদ্ধত্যপূর্ণ ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানির ভূমিকার কারণেই কাশিমপুর কুঠির এবং কলকাতা অভিযানে (২০ জুন ১৭৫৬) বাধ্য হয়েছিলেন। মাদ্রাজ থেকে আগত ক্লাইভ পরিকল্পিতভাবেই নবাবের বিরুদ্ধে সামরিক অভিযানের প্রস্তুতি গ্রহণ করে। নবাবের ঘনিষ্ঠ ষড়যন্ত্রকারীদের নানা লোভ-লালসায় চতুর ক্লাইভ তাদের সমর্থন-সহযোগিতায় প্রহসনের পলাশীর যুদ্ধের নাটকটি সাজিয়ে ছিলেন। বণিক ছদ্মবেশী ইংরেজ বেনিয়ারা মীর জাফর গংয়ের ঘুষ প্রদান-জাল দলিল সম্পাদনে, জালিয়াতি-বিশ্বাসভঙ্গের পলাশীর প্রহসনের যুদ্ধে জয়ী হয়েই ভারতে ব্রিটিশ সাম্রাজ্য প্রতিষ্ঠার প্রথম বিজয় অর্জনে ভারতবর্ষ দখল অভিযানে অগ্রসর হয়েছিল। 
শঠতার-প্রহসনের পলাশীর যুদ্ধে নবাব সিরাজউদ্দৌলার পরাজয় ও হত্যার দায়মুক্তির জন্য অসংখ্য মিথ্যা-বিকৃত ইতিহাস রচনায় দেশবাসীকে ইংরেজরা বিভ্রান্ত করতে সক্ষম হয়েছিল। পলাশীর যুদ্ধের ১৩৯ বছর পর (১৮৯৬-৯৭ খ্রিষ্টাব্দে) প্রকাশিত বাংলা ভাষায় সর্বপ্রথম ঐতিহাসিক অক্ষয় কুমার মৈত্রেয় অনন্য ইতিহাস রচনায় শুধু পলাশীর যুদ্ধের সত্যই উন্মোচন করেননি; নবাব সিরাজউদ্দৌলাকে ঔপনিবেশিক ইংরেজের বিরুদ্ধে আত্মদানকারী প্রথম বীর রূপেও গণ্য করেছেন। পলাশীর যুদ্ধের ১৩৯ বছর পর দেশবাসী প্রকৃত ইতিহাস জানতে পারে। অক্ষয় কুমার মৈত্রেয় রচিত "সিরাজউদ্দৌলা" গ্রন্থে সর্বপ্রথম পলাশীর যুদ্ধের প্রকৃত ঘটনা উদ্ঘাটনে পূর্বেকার তাঁবেদার লেখকদের বিকৃত ইতিহাস দ্রুত আঁস্তাকুড়ে নিক্ষিপ্ত হয়। অক্ষয় কুমার মৈত্রেয় মিথ্যাচারের বানোয়াট ইতিহাসের মুখোশ উন্মোচন করেছিলেন। তিনি প্রমাণ করেছেন ইংরেজ সমর্থন-সহযোগিতায় রচিত পলাশীর যুদ্ধের বিকৃত ইতিহাস উদ্দেশ্যপ্রণোদিত এবং মিথ্যার ওপর প্রতিষ্ঠিত। ইংরেজ বেনিয়া ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানির অন্যায় দেশ দখল, অনাচার, শোষণ, লুণ্ঠন প্রমাণে অক্ষয় কুমার মৈত্রেয় এবং অপর ঐতিহাসিক নিখিল নাথ রায় প্রকৃত ইতিহাস রচনায় পলাশীর যুদ্ধের কলঙ্কের মূলে অপরাধী ইংরেজদের দায়ীরূপে প্রমাণে সক্ষম হয়েছিলেন। পাশাপাশি ইংরেজদের মূল উদ্দেশ্য যে ছিল রাজনৈতিক সেটিও উন্মোচন এবং প্রমাণ করেছিলেন। 
নবীন চন্দ্র সেন 'পলাশীর যুদ্ধ' কাব্যে সিরাজউদ্দৌলার চরিত্রে অযথা কলঙ্ক লেপনের জন্য ঐতিহাসিক অক্ষয় কুমার মৈত্রেয় তীক্ষè ভাষায় নবীন চন্দ্র সেনকে ভর্ৎসনা করেছেন। পলাশীর যুদ্ধ জয়ী ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানি রাজনৈতিক অভিলাষ এবং আধিপত্য বিস্তারে ক্রমেই ভারতবর্ষকে অভিন্ন প্রক্রিয়ায় করতলগত করেছিল। খ্যাতিবান ঐতিহাসিক শেখর বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের গ্রন্থেও পলাশীর যুদ্ধের প্রকৃত ইতিহাস প্রকাশ পেয়েছে। 'নবাব সিরাজউদ্দৌলা দ্বিধাহীন চিত্তে রাজনৈতিক কর্তৃত্ব রক্ষা করতে গিয়েই প্রাণ দিয়েছেন। 'ইংরেজ বেনিয়াদের বিরুদ্ধে লড়াই-সংগ্রামে তাঁকে প্রথম ভারতীয় বীররূপে গণ্য করতে হবে।' অক্ষয় কুমার মৈত্রেয় তার গ্রন্থে উপরোক্ত কথাগুলো জোরের সঙ্গেই বলেছেন। কথাগুলো মোটেও মিথ্যে নয়, নির্ভেজাল সত্য; সেটা পৌনে দুইশত বছরের ইংরেজ ঔপনিবেশিক শাসনাধীনে প্রমাণিত হয়েছে।
 বিজয়ীমাত্রই ক্ষমতার আনুকূল্যে ইতিহাসের বিকৃতি ঘটিয়ে নিজেদের বীররূপে প্রকাশ করে । অন্যদিকে দেশপ্রেমিক বীর নায়ককে খলনায়কে পরিণত করে। পলাশী যুদ্ধের ১৩৯ বছর প্রকৃত ঘটনা আড়াল করতে পেরেছিল ইংরেজ শাসকেরা। কিন্তু শেষ রক্ষা হয়নি। পলাশী যুদ্ধের প্রকৃত ইতিহাস ১৩৯ বছর পরে ইংরেজ শাসনামলেই প্রকাশ পেয়েছে। একটা সময় পর্যন্ত মানুষকে বিভ্রান্ত করা সম্ভব, স্থায়ীরূপে সম্ভব নয়। ইতিহাস থেকে বিজয়ীরা শিক্ষা গ্রহণ করে না। সে কারণে ক্ষমতার আনুকূল্যে নিজেদের বিজয়গাথা রচনায় প্রতিটি বিজয়ী শাসক ইতিহাস বিকৃতির অপকীর্তি করে থাকে। সিরাজউদ্দৌলাকে যোগ্য মর্যাদায় প্রতিষ্ঠিত করার পূর্বশর্ত; সাম্রাজ্যবাদবিরোধী সংগ্রাম। এই সংগ্রাম ঔপনিবেশিক সাম্রাজ্যবাদবিরোধী রাজনৈতিক সংস্কৃতিরও সংগ্রাম। সঠিক ইতিহাস চর্চার সংগ্রামও নিশ্চয়।

    I do not much care how many versions of the Koran exists. I shall be surprised if there are fundamental differences among them. In particular, there is no reason to believe that the ten verses on jihad read in the video posted by SKM can be so different from each other that their meaning will differ. That essentially is the point. The verses of the Koran quoted in the video are authentic and their meaning is clear.
    It is a pity that we had to hear them from a Christian. And still how many Muslims, among the billion plus Muslims of the world, have read them and spend time to think about them? Almost certainly a miniscule. The crucial fact is that we do not read the Koran to understand it; we read it as a matter of piety. So long as ordinary Muslims fail to read the Koran like any other book, see the role of humans in its creation, its enormous contradictions,and the historical context in which it came into being, they will remain prey to Islam's apologists on the one hand and jihadist ideologues on the other.

Dear Mr. Asghar,

I thank you for your excellent and knowledgeable response to my questions about Koranic types, etc. Your response is very helpful and highly educative for all of us in general. Because, majority Muslims are only a muslim by birth to a Muslim parent and almost all of them are highly ignorant about Islam as a whole and know almost nothing about Koran, Hadiths, or the real history of Islam and know almost nothing about the personality of the Prophet of Islam. Because, almost all of them read/memorized Koran like a parrot by not understanding a word of it. They even did not care to understand it in the first place. Because, their teachers told them only reading will guarantee them the lustful Islamic heaven and they don't need to understand it. Only parroting will guarantee them every happiness in their afterlife! But, one good thing their teachers (Mullahs) told was: that Muslims are the best of all humans, Prophet Muhammad (PM) is the best of all humans and PM is the only human to emulate by all Muslims and all Muslims must hate all non-muslims (kaffirs) up to their bones. Only then Muslims will be awarded Islamic heaven with plenty of high bossomed Huris.

But, I do believe that, it is better that not all Muslims do understand Koran and hadiths. If all muslims could understand the horrendous teachings of Koran and hadiths--then our poor world would have been totally destroyed by now only by Muslim fanatics just like ISIS jihadists who are only perhaps 10-20% of all Billion Muslims. Can you imagine having several millions of Jihadists like ISIS pure muslims in our society: exactly what would happen to this poor world today? Just think about it please!

Apart from the Hafs and Warsh versions, there are many more versions of the Quran. Two of them are:
Qalun in Libya, and Al-Duri in Sudan.
 
In Sura Fathiha, if Bismilllah --- has a number (number 1) ascribed after it, it is the Hafs version. If there
is no verse number, then it is Warsh version.
 
Sura Fathiha is supposed to have seven verses. Since it was originally a Sura with six verses, Quran's
compilers gave number one to Bismillah. Others divided the last verse of the Sura into two, thus making
it a Sura with seven verses.
 
Usman's compilation does not consist of over 6,600 verses, or of over 799,000 words. The Quran he is
alleged to have complied is in the Kufi (from Kufa in Iraq) script i.e. without punctuation marks. People,
who are not accustomed to reading the Kufi Arabic, could never have correctly read the Quran.
 
Without punctuation marks, one could read the Arabic word "Allah" with different and varied pronunciations.
Only those people, who knew the Kufi script, would have read it as "Allah."
 
The Quran, its versions notwithstanding, was given its present form in 933. It was at the same time when
Hadiths were also written to justify many of the things written in the Quran. It was done at the behest of the
caliph of the time. His successors disagreed with many of them and they punished the Hadiths writers by
exiling them or by awarding other punishments.
 
I do not know which version of the Quran do the Saudis read and follow. But do they need to have a Quran
when they are the inheritors of Islam and the beneficiaries of the gift that prophet Muhammad has made to
them by making hajj compulsory for all the Muslims?
 
What prophet Muhammad has bequeathed to the Muslims of, say, Bangladesh? Zilch!!!
 
The Saudis can interpret Islam and the Quran according to what is in their best interest. After all, the Quran
is in their ancient tongue and they are the unofficial arbiter of Islam, even though almost all the non-Saudi
Muslims believe that the Saudis are not Muslims.
 
It is a mockery of truth. If the Saudis are not Muslims and they do not know Islam or do not understand the
Quran, then we will have to have the heads of the non-Saudi Muslims checked in order to make sure
that they are sane and are worthy of living in the midst of sane humans.
 
In my understanding, most of the Muslims of Bangladesh and Pakistan do not know which Quran they are
reading nor do they understand what they read in it. Most of the Memorizers of the Quran are as ignorant
as the ordinary Muslims.
 
Once I asked a professor of Dhaka University if he understood the meaning of Sura Abu Lahab. He said that
he did not, and then added that he did not need to understand what he tells Allah in his prayers so long as
Allah understood and accepted his prayer.
 
What can we say about other Muslims of Bangladesh? They have been doing what their ancestors had done
i.e. memorize some Suras, without understanding them, and then regurgitate them in their prayers.  And then
they declare that they are the true Muslims and that they are the true followers of prophet Muhammad and all
of his Sunnahs!

Thanks for your response and bringing the most important and mostly unknown fact of having two Qurans for the muslims. I did not know this and I thought--all Muslims read and believe in just one Koran (compiled by Hazrat Osman (ra)). Now would you please tell us about the two versions of Koran? How they (Hafs and Warsh) differ one from the other? Another question is: which version of Koran is read/used by those Wahabi muslims? Also please highlight about which Koran is read by those Bangladeshi and Pakistani Mumin Musalman. Thanks.

Soudis are like "Janus Face" of Islam. Wahabism is a deceptive terminology used by the pure Muslims/ignorant people/Non-muslims and those who play Islamic Taqqiyya (Deception technique prescribed in Koran and Sunnah only to make non-muslims stupid fool so that they will never understand the real face of pure Islam ever.) At present, Billion Muslims believe in just one Koran and same Hadiths and there are no second Koran for anybody else including those so called Wahabite Muslims. That means: Wahabism and entire Muslim world have only one Koran. To make it more clear--both pure Muslims (general muslims of the whole world) and the so called Wahabism muslims do believe and practice their religion by the same one Koran. Now please tell me what are the differences between the ISIS, Wahabism, and Islam?

Could anybody make it clear for the readers?

Recently, some media commentators have argued that, rather than the product of a simple confrontation between Sunni and Shia Muslims in Syria and Iraq, the rise of the so-called "Islamic State" should be perceived as an eruption into those countries of Wahhabism, the only interpretation of Islam recognized as official in Saudi Arabia.
David Gardner of the Financial Times, for instance, blamed Saudi Arabia indirectly for the growth of ISIS, writing, "Jihadi extremism does present a threat to the kingdom. But in doctrinal terms it is hard to see in what way it 'deviates' from Wahhabi orthodoxy." Others have implied or alleged that Saudi Arabia helps finance ISIS.
On September 30, Financial Times writers Heba Saleh in Cairo and Simeon Kerr in Dubai asserted, "in contrast to the tacit official encouragement of more liberal voices after 9/11, any debate within Saudi Arabia over the role of [Wahhabism] in fostering [ISIS] extremism has been timid and largely confined to social media."
Yet in analyzing radical Islam, we should make distinctions, not confuse them. Looking back at Saudi Arabia's reaction to the atrocities of September 11, 2001, we would find little public dialogue over the role of Wahhabism in the origins of al Qaeda. The Saudi monarchy and their representatives denied a linkage and discouraged investigation of it. After the U.S.-led Iraq intervention in 2003, Saudi media and websites were replete with praise for Saudi citizens who had died as terrorist combatants north of the kingdom's border. The Saudis created an ineffective anti-terrorist "rehabilitation" program before "deporting" al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) to Yemen. Later, however, the Saudis declined to support the Wahhabi Nour party that emerged in Egypt after the fall of Hosni Mubarak in 2011.
Saudi Arabia had begun to change in 2005 with the death of King Fahd Abd Al-Aziz and ascent to the throne of his half brother, the currently-ruling King Abdullah. Abdullah commenced a series of reforms that while small, nonetheless marked a new direction for the desert realm. In 2007, the so-called "religious police" or "morals patrols," titled officially the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (CPVPV), and known among the populace as the mutawiyin (volunteers) or hai'a (commission), came under official scrutiny.
Previously, the "morals patrols" had roamed the streets of Saudi cities, carrying leather-covered sticks with which they beat women whose all-covering garment, the abaya, slipped an inch and revealed an ankle, pushing ordinary people toward mosques at prayer times, raiding houses where they suspected alcohol was present, monitoring the highways to prevent women from driving and unrelated couples from riding together, harassing members of the Shia minority, including a rape victim who was punished by lashing, detaining hajj pilgrims who engaged in metaphysical rituals prohibited by the Wahhabis, and killing people in especially-brutal incidents. Thanks to King Abdullah, the morals patrols were subjected to court authority for the first time.
In 2009, King Abdullah established a ministry for women's education and dismissed the then-head of the morals patrols, Ibrahim Al-Ghaith. Two years later, Saudi women were granted limited electoral rights, to become effective in 2015. Further, King Abdullah announced in 2011 the foundation of the world's largest university for women, named for his aunt, Princess Nora Bint Abdulrahman, and located near the capital, Riyadh.
The director of the "morals patrols" was again replaced in 2012, by Abdul Latif Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh, who is a descendant of the 18th-century founder of the Wahhabi sect, Muhammad Ibn Abd Al-Wahhab, but supports greater female participation in society. After his appointment, Abdul Latif Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh cautioned the "morals patrols" against harassment of the public, and forbade them from arresting, interrogating or searching people or residences without a warrant from a local governor.
Saudi Arabia in 2013 criminalized domestic violence and appointed 30 women to the unelected national legislature or "shura council," which was previously restricted to men. The same year, Saudi Arabia nominated its first motion picture directed by a woman, Wadjda, about a young girl who wants to buy a bicycle and the obstacles she faces, for an Academy Award.
Regarding the horrors in Syria, although Saudis like other Sunni Muslims are outraged at the massacres of the Bashar Al-Assad regime, Saudi authorities earlier this year banned involvement in jihad abroad, with prison sentences of three to thirty years for Saudis who fight outside the country, enlist in terrorist groups, provide them with material assistance, or incite others to join them.
Wahhabi fanatics have pushed back against these adaptations to modern reality. In the latest manifestation of Wahhabi intransigence, a court judge in Riyadh, according to BBC News, sentenced Shia cleric Nimr Al-Nimr to death by beheading and crucifixion for activism in 2011, in Shia protests in the Saudi Eastern Province, where many Shia Muslims live. Iran is widely accused of involvement in the Saudi Shia turmoil, and both Tehran and the Shia Houthi rebels in Yemen defended Al-Nimr and condemned the Saudis aggressively in the case.
A slow but undeniable transition is underway in Saudi Arabia. Notwithstanding its Wahhabi legacy and the emulation of Wahhabism by ISIS, raids by the Royal Saudi Air Force against ISIS, and a pledge by Riyadh to train the non-sectarian Syrian Free Army, may demonstrate that Saudi Arabia has taken a positive stand against the metastasized Wahhabism of ISIS.
Certainly, none of the measures instituted by King Abdullah would be imaginable under the domination of ISIS. Saudi journalist Bader Al-Rashed declared in the Middle East news portal Al-Monitor of September 29, 2014, "Today . . . because of [ISIS], there are discussions on the connection between Sunni jihadist extremism and Wahhabism inside and outside Saudi Arabia. This might eventually change the way Saudis see themselves. . . . The kingdom's participation in the first airstrikes against IS in Syria on Sept. 23 demonstrates its seriousness in combating the radicals."
Commitment to the battle against ISIS may therefore drive Saudi Arabia further away from its Wahhabi past.

মুক্তিযুদ্ধের বিরোধিতার প্রতীক গোলাম আযমবাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতার বিরোধিতা ও গণহত্যার প্রতীক গোলাম আযম মারা গেছেন। মানবতাবিরোধী অপরাধের দায়ে সাজা খাটা অবস্থায় মারা গেলেন তিনি। গতকাল বৃহস্পতিবার রাত পৌনে ১২টার দিকে তাঁর মৃত্যুর ঘোষণা দেওয়া হয়। 
১৯৭১ সালের মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় মানবতার বিরুদ্ধে অপরাধের দায়ে আন্তর্জাতিক অপরাধ ট্রাইব্যুনাল-১ গোলাম আযমকে ৯০ বছরের সাজা দিয়েছিলেন। রায়ে ট্রাইব্যুনাল বলেছিলেন, তাঁর অপরাধের মাত্রা ছিল মৃত্যুদণ্ডযোগ্য। কিন্তু বয়স ও শারীরিক অবস্থা বিবেচনায় নিয়ে তাঁকে এই সাজা দেওয়া হয়। 
গতকাল বৃহস্পতিবার রাতে বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিব মেডিকেল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে (বিএসএমএমইউ) চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় তাঁর মৃত্যু হয়। তাঁর বয়স হয়েছিল ৯২ বছর। বিএসএমএমইউর পরিচালক আবদুল মজিদ ভূঁইয়া রাত পৌনে ১২টার দিকে গোলাম আযমের মৃত্যুর আনুষ্ঠানিক ঘোষণা দেন। তিনি সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, লাইফ সাপোর্টে নেওয়ার আধা ঘণ্টা পর রাত ১০টা ২০ মিনিটে তাঁর মৃত্যু হয়। একজন কয়েদির বেলায় আইন অনুযায়ী যা করা হয়, গোলাম আযমের ক্ষেত্রে তা অনুসরণ করা হবে। 
ঢাকা কেন্দ্রীয় কারাগার সূত্রে জানা গেছে, নিয়ম অনুযায়ী গোলাম আযমের মরদেহ ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য পাঠানো হবে। এরপর একজন ম্যাজিস্ট্রেটের উপস্থিতিতে মরদেহের সুরতহাল প্রতিবেদন ও ময়নাতদন্ত করা হবে। তারপর কারা কর্তৃপক্ষ স্বজনদের কাছে মরদেহ হস্তান্তর করবে। 
আবদুল মজিদ ভূঁইয়া রাত পৌনে একটায় প্রথম আলোকে জানান, হাসপাতালের কার্ডিয়াক আইসিইউতে (নিবিড় পরিচর্যাকেন্দ্র) আরও অনেক রোগী আছেন। তাঁরা আতঙ্কগ্রস্ত হতে পারেন। তাই আইজি প্রিজনকে রাতেই মরদেহ নিয়ে যাওয়ার অনুরোধ করা হয়েছে।
তবে রাত দুইটার দিকে গোলাম আযমের আইনজীবী সাইফুর রহমান সাংবাদিকদের জানান, পরিবারের পক্ষ থেকে ময়নাতদন্ত ছাড়াই মরদেহ চাওয়া হয়েছে। এ বিষয়ে তাঁরা সরকারের সিদ্ধান্তের অপেক্ষায় আছেন। 
২০১২ সালের ১১ জানুয়ারি গ্রেপ্তারের পর মাত্র কয়েক ঘণ্টা ঢাকা কেন্দ্রীয় কারাগারে ছিলেন গোলাম আযম। ওই দিনই তাঁকে বিএসএমএমইউতে এনে কারা তত্ত্বাবধানে ভর্তি করা হয়। এর পর থেকে তিনি হাসপাতালেই ছিলেন। গতকাল বিকেলের পর তাঁর শারীরিক অবস্থার অবনতি হয়। বিকেলেই জামায়াত কেন্দ্রীয়ভাবে আজ গোলাম আযমের জন্য দোয়া দিবস পালন করবে বলে জানায়। 
রাতে অবস্থার আরও অবনতি হলে গোলাম আযমকে কৃত্রিম শ্বাসপ্রশ্বাস দিয়ে রাখা হয়। মূলত তখনই তাঁর 'মৃত্যুর খবর' ছড়িয়ে পড়ে। তাঁর আত্মীয়স্বজন ও গণমাধ্যমকর্মীরা খবর সংগ্রহ করতে হাসপাতালে ভিড় করেন। 
গোলাম আযমের ব্যক্তিগত ব্যবস্থাপক আবুল কালাম আজাদ রাত পৌনে ১১টার দিকে হাসপাতালে প্রথম আলোকে বলেন, 'স্যার আর বেঁচে নেই।' কখন মারা গেছেন, জানতে চাইলে তিনি বলেন, 'সঠিক সময় বলতে পারব না। তবে ১০টার দিকে হবে।'

কিন্তু তখন পর্যন্ত হাসপাতাল কর্তৃপক্ষ আনুষ্ঠানিক কিছু জানায়নি। রাত ১১টার দিকে ঢাকা কারাগারের সিনিয়র জেল সুপার ফরমান আলী বেরিয়ে যাওয়ার সময় সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, 'তাঁকে এখনো লাইফ সাপোর্টে রাখা হয়েছে।'
গতকাল রাতে গোলাম আযমের মৃত্যুর খবর সাংবাদিকদের জানান বিএসএমএমইউর পরিচালক আবদুল মজিদ ভূঁইয়া l প্রথম আলোরাত ১১টা ৫০ মিনিটে হাসপাতালের পরিচালক আবদুল মজিদ ভূঁইয়া সাংবাদিকদের নিশ্চিত করেন, গোলাম আযম মারা গেছেন। 
এরপর গোলাম আযমের আইনজীবী তাজুল ইসলাম সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, গোলাম আযম মারা যাওয়ার আগে দুটি ইচ্ছার কথা প্রকাশ করে গেছেন। তিনি চান জামায়াতের আমির মতিউর রহমান নিজামী তাঁর জানাজা পড়াবেন। এরপর মগবাজারে বাবার কবরের পাশে তাঁকে দাফন করা হবে। 
গোলাম আযমের ছয় ছেলের মধ্যে পাঁচজনই দেশের বাইরে। বড় ছেলে আবদুল্লাহহিল আমান আজমী সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, দেশের বাইরে থেকে সব ভাই আসা পর্যন্ত তাঁরা দাফনের জন্য সময় চাইবেন। 
একাত্তরের ঘাতক দালাল নির্মূল কমিটির ভারপ্রাপ্ত সভাপতি শাহরিয়ার কবির গতকাল রাতে প্রথম আলোকে বলেন, জামায়াতের আমির মতিউর রহমান নিজামী কারাগারে আছেন, তিনি ইতিমধ্যে একটি মামলার সাজাপ্রাপ্ত আসামি। যদি নিজামীকে প্যারোলে মুক্তি দিয়ে গোলাম আযমের জানাজায় ইমামতি করার সুযোগ দেওয়া হয়, তবে দেশের প্রচলিত কারাবিধি ও অন্যান্য আইন লঙ্ঘন করা হবে।
শাহরিয়ার কবির আরও বলেন, 'আমরা মনে করি, সরকার ইতিমধ্যে গোলাম আযমকে সর্বোচ্চ মানবতা দেখিয়েছে, তাঁকে ১১০০ দিন কারাগারের পরিবর্তে হাসপাতালে রেখে চিকিৎসা দিয়েছে। এখন শেষ ইচ্ছা পূরণ করতে গিয়ে দেশের জন্য সমূহ বিপর্যয়ের কোনো আশঙ্কা তৈরি করা ঠিক হবে না।' 
১৯২২ সালের ৭ নভেম্বর গোলাম আযম ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়ার নবীনগর উপজেলার বীরগাঁও গ্রামে জন্ম নেন। এই মাটিতে জন্ম হলেও তিনি বাংলাদেশের জন্মের বিরোধিতা করেন। পূর্ব পাকিস্তান জামায়াতের আমির হিসেবে ১৯৭১ সালের এপ্রিল মাসে তৎকালীন পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের সামরিক আইন প্রশাসক টিক্কা খানের সঙ্গে বৈঠক করে গণহত্যার পরিকল্পনা করেন। দেশ স্বাধীন হলে তাঁর নাগরিকত্ব বাতিল করা হয়। এর পর থেকে তিনি মূলত লন্ডনে বসবাস করে বাংলাদেশবিরোধী তৎপরতা চালিয়ে গেছেন। ১৯৭৮ সালে তিনি পাকিস্তানি পাসপোর্ট ও তিন মাসের ভিসা নিয়ে বাংলাদেশে আসেন। 
পাকিস্তানি পাসপোর্টধারী গোলাম আযম বাংলাদেশে এসে আর ফিরে যাননি। গোটা আশির দশক ছিলেন জামায়াতের অঘোষিত আমির। ১৯৯০ সালে এরশাদ সরকারের পতনের পর প্রকাশ্য রাজনীতি শুরু করেন। ১৯৯১ সালের ২৯ ডিসেম্বর গোলাম আযমকে প্রকাশ্যে আমির ঘোষণা করে জামায়াত। এর বিরুদ্ধে প্রথম প্রতিবাদ করেছিলেন শহীদজননী জাহানারা ইমাম। ১৯৯২ সালে নাগরিক সমাজকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে গঠন করেন গণ-আদালত। সেই প্রতীকী গণ-আদালতে গোলাম আযমের বিরুদ্ধে ১০টি অভিযোগ আনা হয়েছিল। অভিযোগের প্রতিটিরই শাস্তি ঘোষণা হয়েছিল মৃত্যুদণ্ড।
বাংলাদেশের আলো-বাতাসে থাকলেও গোলাম আযম তাঁর একাত্তরের ভূমিকার জন্য এ দেশের মানুষের কাছে ক্ষমা চাননি। একাত্তর সালের ভূমিকার জন্য ক্ষমা চায়নি তাঁর দল জামায়াতে ইসলামীও। যে দেশ তিনি চাননি, সে দেশেই মৃত্যুবরণ করতে হয়েছে তাঁকে। তবে তা একজন মানবতাবিরোধী অপরাধী হিসেবে, দণ্ডের বোঝা মাথায় নিয়ে।

কুখ্যাত যুদ্ধাপরাধী আমৃত্যু দ-প্রাপ্ত গোলাম আযম মারা গেছেন
স্টাফ রিপোর্টার ॥ স্বাধীনতাবিরোধী যুদ্ধাপরাধের নাটের গুরু 'আমৃত্যু দ-প্রাপ্ত' জামায়াতের সাবেক আমির গোলাম আযম (৯২) মারা গেছেন। বৃহস্পতিবার রাত দশটা দশ মিনিটে বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিব মেডিক্যাল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে (বিএসএমএমইউ) চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় তিনি মারা যান। রাত বারোটায় বিএসএমএমইউ ভিসি ডাঃ প্রাণ গোপাল দত্ত জনকণ্ঠকে এ খবর নিশ্চিত করে জানান, তাঁকে মৃত ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে। হাসপাতালের পরিচালক ব্রিগেডিয়ার আবদুল মজিদ ভূঁইয়া জানান, গোলাম আযমের লাশ কারা কর্তৃপক্ষের কাছে হস্তান্তর করা হয়েছে। রাতেই পরিবারের . . .
