Re: [ALOCHONA] Re: [khabor.com] PM planned to do office from Canada

Mr. Haque:

Joy's drunk driving and gun-carrying allegations are false, created by none other than BNP operatives before the election. Joy is an IT professional, currently pursuing an MPA at JFK School of Govt. at Harvard, and believe you me, JFK school does not admit anyone or everyone unless they have proven themselves in their fields. If you have any friends in the law enforcement, please ask them to do you a favor and look up Joy's so-called criminal record. Perhaps that would clear out some of the propaganda nonsense.

Mr. Chowdhury, you are right about Khaleda Zia and her two sons. BTW, Khaleda Zia is not my favorite as I am not a supporter of any of the political parties for obvious reason. A former minister stayed at our house a couple of years back. When asked about the corruption in the government, he said none but only one minister can be termed as honest in their cabinet and the PM was 100% corrupt.
FYI, I am not a felon as I don't have any drunk drivng record and I never carried illegal guns. But your leader Joy has a multiple convictions of drunk driving and was charged with carrying unlincenced gun. As he never held a job except working as an adviser to his mother, how can he be a self made man?

Mr. Enam Haque, fabrication is your lifetime passion. I know about you personally, what I wanted to know whether you are felon or not. Media debunked your favorite Khaleda Zia and great hero Gen. Zia's two rotten children for many years for their great robbery of our national wealth. These two rotten kids Taraque and Koko who could not cross the high Scholl floor and got kicked out from every school they been admitted while receiving millions of BD taka since their father died from poor Bangladeshi to cover up their educational expenses.

Go and ask any student from Saint Joseph High School who studied their in late seventies, they will tell you why Taraque Zia was kicked out of school during his fathers presidency. If you living in US (and you are) and have access to Mr. Khalilur Rahman of Maryland, Gen. Zia's brother go and ask him why he had to call Khaleda Zia and ask her to take her rotten son (who was in Maryland at that time) back as he was out of control.

I know Sajeeb he has only one house in the US , however even if he has not one but hundred that is not in the expense of poor peoples tax money. Whatever Sajeeb Wajed Joy is today is he made himself.

Khaleda Zia widow of NO MONEY man Gen. Zia belongs to the wealthiest women club of the world. In recent days, his son Koko been sued by US government on charges of money laundering. Khaleda and Gen. Zia's older son Taraque is known to every Bangladeshi as Mr. Ten Percent.

Khaleda is occupying the cantt house illegally since her husbands Gen. Zia's killing in the hands of freedom fighters because of his association with thousands of killing including a great number of freedom fighters (including sector commanders) and his ultra association with anti liberation forces,. Even before that, her husband Gen. Zia was occupying this house illegally. She had 15 government paid employee serving her and her family since then including a car with a cha and free fuel. This house belongs to Chief of Army Staff, the day he sworn in as President he should have vacated this house, but he did not because Zia the first military dictator of our country essentially showed his middle finger to the rule of law.

Thanks

Shamim Chowdhury

She stayed in 5 star hotel from where she did her so called office work and spend Millions of dollars. After her first term, Putul got another baby, but she did not come to see, because she was not PM and who will pay for that. Now again she is doing the same thing. This time in Canada. According to Ittefaq report, she will stay two weeks in Canada to see how Putul's third putul come to this world. This time she might stary in 6 or 7 star hotel or may be she will ask Canadian government to make 10 Star hotel for her because she got more seats in the parliament and she is more popular and populous. Is it not a corruption? How do BAL supporters explain this? When millions of people do not have money to see doctor or millions of moms do not have any money to go to

Subject: [ALOCHONA] Jamaat link in Ctg street violence detected and 6 Jamaat leaders arrested

A section of the anti-liberation Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and workers here in the port city may have to shoulder the total responsibility of the street violence and indiscriminate destruction of vehicles in the name of demonstration on Monday last.

Security people have by now identified the masterminds and the designers of the unruly demonstration reportedly under the banners of Bangladesh Sramik Kallayan Federation and auto-rickshaw drivers and workers union.

The unruly auto-rickshaw drivers and workers taken into custody from the spot had reportedly told the inside story of the violent demonstration to the police.

They also admitted that a smart amount of money had also been spent for mobilizing the demonstration of the auto-rickshaw drivers and the subsequent destructions.

Detectives pursuing the statements of the detainees have already nabbed 12 more people from different parts of the city and currently looking for Abu Taher Khan, General Secretary of Bangladesh Sramik Kallayan Federation, and Kamal Uddin, a former armed cadre of the Islami Chhatra Shibir.

"We've identified the main culprits after reviewing the video clippings, still-photographs and questioning the detainees. Special teams are out to take the absconding culprits into book," one of the senior detectives told this correspondent.

Political analysts believed that the agitators had the intention of destabilizing the city's law and order and fish in the troubled water.

Officials at Doublemooring, Halishahar, Panchlaish and Kotwali police stations confirmed cases against more than 1500 auto-rickshaw drivers including the anarchists.

On the other hand, leaders of the Auto-rickshaw Sramik League called upon the fellow drivers to take down their auto-rickshaws on the streets complying the metering rules.

They claimed that actual auto-rickshaw drivers did not take part in Monday's confrontations but a section of politically influenced people carried out the destructions.

Some of the auto-rickshaw drivers came down on the street near Karnaphuli Market yesterday afternoon. Leaders of the Auto-rickshaw Sramik League were seen examining the tariff meters of the auto-rickshaws.

It could not be known whether the pro-Jamaat-e- Islami leaning union of the auto-rickshaw drivers abandoned their strike as the leaders of Bangladesh Sramik Kallayan Federation went into hiding after the incident.

[ALOCHONA] Selective 'zero tolerance' can boomerang

Selective 'zero tolerance' can boomerang

Faisal Rahim

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) forces arrested a gang of culprits at a hotel two weeks ago with equipment and special papers used to manufacture counterfeit currencies. The hotel belonged to a close relative of home minister Sahara Khatun.
Acting on a tip-off from a gang member arrested in another part of the city, RAB mounted the raid and carried out the arrests and seizure of articles from a hotel room used in currency frauds. Along with it, they also arrested a boy who initially tried to resist the raid. The boy later disclosed his identity as the nephew of the home minister and the message was passed to her to verify the claim.
It was a sensational operation and the RAB forces were on high alert on being resisted from the hotel management. But they became 'calm and obedient' suddenly when the home minister asked the forces to release the boy and treat the other culprits as per law.
Newspapers carried out the news on the following day and obviously the nation was shocked to see the involvement of people of the home minister's extended family in such counterfeit business.
It was more shocking as they saw the home minister got her nephew released from her own forces while the remaining culprits were sent to jail. Moreover, the release of the criminal came at a time when ministers are making frequent statements saying the Government is for 'zero tolerance' to terrorists, criminal gangs and other anti-social elements.
On the other day state minister for home Tanzim Ahmed Suhel Taj announced the Government's zero tolerance policy at a meeting at the headquarters of Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) attended by home minister Sahara Khatun herself and a dozen law makers.
The meeting was convened to find ways of controlling bloody fights and confrontation centering control of business relating to disposal of 'jhute' or waste cloths of garment factories. Ruling party activists are on regular confrontation between groups within the party and those belonging to former ruling party BNP and its allies to control this business worth of crore Taka per year. He said the government would not tolerate destabilisation of the garment industry and such fighting centering the waste disposal. But the message was clear in the first instance directed on groups who control the business under the support of the former BNP government. One MP was said time has changed and obviously ruling party activists have the right to regain the business. And secondly, the ruling party leaders laid emphasis on bringing the young party activists under certain discipline to avoid fight among themselves. They must work out compromise to shun fighting, they said. Local MPs may play important role to broker peace, some participants suggested that bloody confrontation are on the rise to control the business between the supporters of contesting leaders within the ruling party such as at Narayangonj, Mirpur and other places.
Moreover, Sahara Khatun said the Government is going to set up one 1850-member industrial police force to begin with, to patrol the garment industry zones and maintain peace and discipline to protect factories from attacks by workers under the leadership of certain unknown faces.
Essentially it is a good move and although the process started earlier, this government is going to establish it to claim legitimate praise. But the growing criticism now finding way against the government relates to its zero tolerance policy.

   Without discrimination
The question is whether such policy of zero tolerance will be equally applicable to all without discriminating between persons or groups and party affiliation. The currency counterfeit case from which the minister took out her nephew is an eye opener to it and the right groups may take up the issue to ensure fair treatment to all.
It is clear when ministers speak of zero tolerance, they meant terrorist groups and opposition activists. Taj for instance recently sounded threats on the opposition BNP not to go for movement over Begum Zia's cantonment house. They would not be allowed to destabilise peace on the streets and warned of zero silence.

   21 Tablig women
Another instance of zero tolerance which has already backfired relates to the arrest of 21 women at Tablig center at Brisal. These women clad in head to feet 'burkah' were apprehended as members of outlawed JMB group.
But local investigation later cleared them as honourable ladies from respectable families and some of them are highly educated.
News reports by a Bengali daily said one of the ladies is the mother-in-law of an incumbent secretary of the government. Another lady is the mother-in-law of an in-service army major.
Here people wonder whether the authorities are using the zero tolerance in the right context to nab the culprits or using it to victimise innocent public out of whims. Here too much politicisation of the policy is diverting the right spirit to wrong direction.

   Respectable old men
Another instance of such zero tolerance is quite dismaying. Some respectable senior citizens at their old age now sit in 'tafsir' sessions every morning after fazar prayers at a mosque in the city's Eskaton Garden area. Recently, some political elements of the ruling party asked them to stop it and leave the venue after the prayer is over. Some of these people are former secretaries, bankers and people of such other professions. But as the sitting continued, some local elements became aggressive and in a recent event manhandled the attendants. One former senior banker was even physically assaulted while the group was ousted from the mosque.
This group is now working to set up a new mosque management committee to ensure that only prayers would take place in the mosque, no more religious discussion in the sideline. Observers wonder if this is going to move too far under such growing zero tolerance policy and use of threats. Democratic society stands for accommodation, not zero tolerance to diverse religious and socio-political forces. They say any such coercion may prove counter-productive in the end.
