Bangladesh has lost one of the pride as Dr MA Wazed is not with us anymore. My sincere condolence to PM Hasina and her family. May God gives her and family to be strong in this unwanted situation.
We all should pray for him and may Allah place him in Heaven.

I am always amazed by the poetic genius of Rabindranath Tagore. Every year on 25th of Boishakh when I read, Chironutoneray dilo daak ponchishey boishakh, I wonder why the great poet was so sure that his birth has ushered a new era. The heart of a poet is a place where the atom of creation is submerged in the sea of emotion. All the great poets are like this but there is a difference of perception between Tagore and other great poets. Among all the great poets I find some similarity between Wordsworth and Tagore. This is in their power to take nature as their inspiration to write and express. Along with many other superb qualities Tagore had an advantage from the unique traditional Indian philosophy and culture. The depth and the touch of eternity which we always experience in his writings is a direct result of his total understanding of the Indian culture and philosophy. His poetical mysticism intensely played with this Indian tradition and enriched his vision as a poet. The deep influence of the Upanishads also played a major role in making the personality of Tagore and his views of life and the visible world. He did not see things in their stationery positions rather he a saw an endless movement in them. This feeling gave him an advantage over time and that he could claim a seat in the chariot of restless time. This is the reason we are still encouraged, enjoy and appreciate him. The audacity of Tagore in his poem, Shotoborsho Porey , speaks of his power as a poet and this is unique with Tagore.

In one fell swoop we can remove 80% of the obstacles and problems that have held this country in the backwaters of civilization. The people of Bangladesh have the strength, intelligence and wisdom to tackle rest of the problems as life's usual challenges.
I would welcome ideas from others how we can publicize this and spread the awareness among every citizen. Sentimentalizing 'bismillah's expulsion from the Constitution is expected to be a BIG weapon in their armory.

If Bacchu Rajakar, one of the most vile individual that I had ever met is a "Islamic Scholar", then I should win a Nobel prize in every subject. You should really think about what is "Islamic" and who is a "scholar". "Curse on him"? What are you? the village priest or the holy pope? Why not demand an investigation to unearth the truth?

Curse on him if he really did those that you accuse him with. Million times curse on you if he in fact commit those but you're just putting all your politically vengiant lies on him. If that's the case, be fearful of a day when you will be directly accountable before Allah to prove what you say. We know for sure why you hate Islamic scholars. Regards. Wohid

Of course he just killed and raped some people in 1971 to please his master Pakistani Army. But that doesn't make him guilty. Furthermore, committing rapes and murders might have been prerequisites to enroll into moulana program in the Jamaati madrassah that he attended (I am really not sure whether he attended any).

Dispute with India: Decision on hydrocarbon exploration unlikely
According to the sources, Bangladesh took the new stance in response to an Indian request made recently.
The government is unlikely to make any decision on 3rd round international gas block bidding before settling dispute with neighbouring India, sources at the Power and Energy Ministry have said.Bangladesh has a number of gas blocks in its territory where both neighbouring India and Myanmar are also claiming their possession. (UNB)
According to the sources, Bangladesh took the new stance in response to an Indian request made recently.
There is an UN body to deal with such matters. As per provision, Bangladesh has to make its submission by 2011 while India has to submit claim by June 2009. Myanmar has already submitted its claim to the UN body.
However, none of India and Myanmar stopped exploration in the disputed territories, while Bangladesh is yet to start its exploration works.
As Bangladesh have been facing severe energy crisis, the immediate past caretaker government last year invited international bids for hydrocarbon exploration in the country's maritime boundary.
Two international companies-US-based Conoco Philip and the Irish Tullow-were selected for a total of nine offshore and deep sea blocks.
But the caretaker government could not take the final decision on the issue and the contract awarding process has been left for the next government. The matter remains pending with the Awami League government since its assumption of office in January through a general election.
Sources said the Energy Division of the Power and Energy Ministry recently made a move to get the final approval of the government's highest policymakers. They prepared a fresh executive summary on the issue to place it to the Prime Minister's Office.
But surprisingly, halfway in the process, the file movement got suspended following instructions from the high-level policymakers.
A senior official of the Energy Division said they don't exactly know why the file movement was stopped. "We can simply say, we had been verbally asked not to proceed further right now and take a go-slow position."
When contacted, State Minister for Power and Energy Shamsul Haque Tuku denied the information that the decision making process on 3rd round bidding had been suspended on Indian request.
"Whatever decision we will make, it will be to protect the country's own interest. There is no other question," he told UNB.
About the 3rd round bidding, Prime Minister's Advisor Taufiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury recently told media that the government was studying international deals before going to sign any agreements with any foreign companies. "That's why the decision making process is being delayed," he had said.
