Democracy is only a word. The practical application of that word is
lacking
everywhere. The Old Boys and Old Families have leadership sewn up in all
democratic countries, albeit they have had time to devise ways to
keep the
passing on of power well covered. Please consider that Benazir
Bhutto may
have been slightly more honest and certainly transparent, in her wishes.
Having said that, my heart aches for the child, Bilawal,who is not, and
never will be, free to live his life as he chooses. He is a slave to
the
ambitions of those who see him simply as a pawn.
The power and control model under which all humans labor needs
reevaluation. Much as we would like to think so, democracy has not
stood the test of time. Democracy has entrenched the haves and the
have-nots, while promising want-to-haves the moon. It is that promise
that will always scuttle a new paradigm. For as long as there is selfish
hope, not a single one of us can put the desires of others first.
