Re: [mukto-mona] Poetry and Hunger.
IRT: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto- mona/message/48289
Many communist leaders including Mao used to write poems. Only literary critics would be able to say if his poems could be called poems. But many of Sukanta Bhattacharyya's poems would easily pass the test and qualify as finest poems. Marx used to enjoy Shakespearean plays (I can't remember the source now.) In the world of hunger, the world is too prosy. To express this feeling Sukanta had to use poetry. What's wrong with that? Are the songs that are sung during revolutionary wars or struggles for independence not poems? -SC Your email settings: Individual Email|Traditional Change settings via the Web (Yahoo!
