Katrina's effect is still nightmare that Americans never thought to form such explosive/intensified low pressure system within 5/10 deg of equatorial region n later curve down as TRS (tropicaL REVOLVING storm as wordings from Wx Meteorological system).
One of my known civil engineer fm NOLA(New Orleans) accepted the error in civil engineering as the water jammed like a basin which caused much effect than initial windage damage.
Think about Chittagong during 1991 and recently Khulna ' SIDR" .
i had been thru these central american waters including gulf of Mexico and US gulf even recently and handed over the command of a vsl to an Indian Captain who has recently shared the experinece of series of Tropical depression over the same regions
Evacuation is much important in US than to save belogings as you do have insurance back up which is not available in Bangladesh and you are lucky too....but we didn't expect looting in NOLA aftremath Katrina's episode which was shameful....as it never observed in Bangladesh with so many TRS since 1970's ...BRAVO Bangladesh...we know how to survive.....Emerging as Potentilal country subj stabilzed political atmosphere.....
