Re: [ALOCHONA] The change agenda

The following story is about American politics but we can relate the same morale for Bangladeshi politics.

ARE YOU READY FOR A CHANGE?

Candidates toss it around without really saying what they want to change.

There's an old sea-story in the Marine Corps about a lieutenant who inspected his Marines in the field, and afterward told the 'Gunny' that the men smelled bad. The lieutenant suggested the solution might be they should change their underwear.

The Gunny responded, 'Aye, aye, sir, I'll see to it immediately!  He then went straight into the squad tent and announced, 'The lieutenant thinks you guys smell bad, and wants you to change your underwear. Smith, you change with Jones, McCarthy, you change with Witkowskie, and Brown, you change with Schultz. Now get to it!'

The moral: A candidate may promise change in Washington , but don't count on things smelling any better.

Hi

Consider, if you will, the following statement:

"After Barack Obama's win it is now statistically more probable for the child of a decent Bangladeshi citizen to be President of the United States Of America than to be Prime Minister of Bangladesh ."

The fight to change Bangladeshi politics continues even after the next elections.

We ask not that we can be the best or that we must be the best.

We demand only that we be the best that we can possibly be.

And, under Hasina and Khaleda, we are nowhere close.

Change will come to our nation. It must. History, justice, time and faith demand it.

So many people I know have given up on our nation in spite of their love for it.

It is not their fault. It is not our fault.

The next time change comes, good change or bad change, it will not come quietly

And it will not go quietly. And change will not consider our definition of right or wrong.

Next time life will become cheap at the top just as life is cheap at the bottom.

It is only fair.
