cordially invite you to a panel discussion on
The Bangladesh Elections and Beyond:
Democracy, Security and Development
Wednesday, January 28th
5:00-7:00 PM
Nitze Building, Kenney Auditorium
1740 Massachusetts Ave NW
Following the recent, historic elections in Bangladesh, all eyes on South Asia now focus on the future of its democratically elected regime led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. While the elections, with a record seventy percent turnout, were the most free and fair in the nation's history, questions have been raised on future prospects of democracy, security, and development in Bangladesh . We will be joined by leading experts as they discuss these questions and provide their commentary on Bangladesh's future.
Featured panelists:
Joshua T. White: 2009 election observer, PhD candidate, SAIS
Sajeeb Wazed: Advisor to H.E. The Honorable Sheikh Hasina
Dr. Imtiaz Habib: Board Member, U.S. Bangladesh Advisory Council (USBAC)
Peter M. Manikas: Senior Associate, Regional Director for Asia, National Democratic Institute (NDI)
Special Guest: H.E. Humayun Kabir, Ambassador of Bangladesh to the United States
R.S.V.P. to Rahul Madhavan at southasia@jhu.edu or by calling (202) 663‐5722
