Invitation for "The War Within: The Maoists, The Tribals and The State" A Convention on the situation in Chhattisgarh in the backdrop of Operation Greenhunt   Speakers: Himanshu Kumar: Gandhian Activist, Vanvasi Chetna Ashram, Dantewada, Chhattisgarh -Ground realities in Chhattisgarh   Ramachandra Guha: Historian, Sociologist and Columnist -Double Tragedy of Tribals in India   Sudeep Chakravarti: Author, Red Sun: Travels in Naxalite Country (Penguin India) -Maoist movement in India: The story so far   Date: November 7th, 2009   Venue: Satish Dhawan Auditorium, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore   About the Convention: As the government plans to unleash "Operation Greenhunt", the biggest ever offensive against the Maoists in India's heartland, this convention aims to debate the why's and whether's behind the move and raise fundamental questions about treating socio-economic and political issues by military means. The convention would include presentations, panel talks, petitions, documentary screenings and exhibition of photos by freelance photojournalist Javed Iqbal.
