Unfair Partisanship: This is Not An Editorial
WE have seen an editorial in a national daily charging Begum Khaleda Zia of prejudicing up-coming outcome of talks between India and Bangladesh. We can not just understand such charge or submission, whatever it is. The whole nation is worried. Anybody who mixes with all sorts of people know the anxiety of the people about TipaiMukh, about transit and corridor, about sea water boundary and Asian highway. The people find the present foreign minister too naïve and inexperienced. All the time travelling, achieving nothing, except a little credit in Trinidad. People never felt happy about such a selection of Foreign Minister.
The paper is wrong when it says that “The unvarnished truth here is that the opposition is presuming a little too much and clearly expects the prime minister to resolve all outstanding issues with India to our satisfaction with just one visit” This is just imagination. BNP and other parties want just no surrender on Asia Highway or corridor or TipaiMukh .It does not expect anything more. We are horribly worried we have seen the role played by the government in ULFA case and Arms smuggling case. These issues are not dealt in this manner in any major country. We had no treaty for this transfer of ULFA eaders. The same we are doing with Kashmiri leaders who have taken shelter here quietly. We are creating enmity forever with Eastern Indian and Kashmiri people.
We have reason to worry.Khaleda Zia and other leaders have correctly assessed the situation and warn the government. It is customary for opposition to do so. This is nothing unusual. What is unusal is the one-d=sided editorial , apparently intended to support some quarters unfairly. We deplore such role.
