Jamaat is bound to be the most affected by the war crime trial and latest reports state that Jamaat politicians are the highest in number on the list of the accused. Jamaat has taken this up as a challenge and are not willing to give up so easily. According to sources within Jamaat, they have taken up plans to tackle the trial and as part of this, they have published a list of 49 war criminals within Awami League. The names on this list include:

1. Obaidullah Majumdar, an MNA elected from Noakhali. During the nine months of the Liberation War he was a member of the Malek cabinet. 2. Prof. Shamsul Huq, a MPA elected from Chittagong who was also a member of the Malek cabinet. 3. Mohammed Habibur Rahman, MPA of Bogra; 4. Zahiruddin, MNA elected from Dhaka; 5. Lt. Col. AKM Mahbubul Islam, Pabna; 6. Syed Hossain Mansur, Pabna; 7. Mohammed Abdul Gaffar, Khulna; 8. Mohammed Syed Khulna; 9. AK Faizul Huq, Barisal, former Jute Minister of the past Awami League government; 10. ABM Nurul Islam, Faridpur; 11. Amjad Hossain Khan, Faridpur; 12. Mohammed Nurul Islam, Dhaka; 13. Akhtaruzzaman, Mymensingh; 14. Syed Badruzzaman, Mymensingh, 15. Dr. Abdul Hashem, Sylhet; 16. Mohammed Nur Miah, Faridpur City President of the Peace Committee; 17. Moulana Nurul Islam, Razakar Commander of Sarishabari in Jamalpur during 1971; 18. Miah Abdul Kasem, Jamalpur, who was a leader of the Peace Committee and who, after independence was arrested but later released with help of the local MP. He is the father of Awami League MP, Jubo League General Secretary and National Parliament Whip Mirza Azam; 19. Moinuddin Miazi, MPA of Jessore who issued a statement in favour of Pakistan's sovereignty, saying that no one could destroy the unity of Pakistan. 20. Amjad Hossain who was the Vice President of Awami League's Keraniganj unit; 21. Khuda Baksh Muktar, MPA from Tangail; 22. Firozur Rahman, President of Faridpur City Awami League and member of the district Awami League. He issued a statement in April 1971 to the Dainik Azad, saying that he never supported the movement to break up Pakistan; 23. Sirajul Islam Chowdhury, MPA elected from Chittagong; 24. Mujibur Rahman Talukdar, Awami League MPA elected from Patuakhali; 25. Abdul Bashar, MPA elected from Chittagong Sadar; 26. Advocate Jamaluddin Miah, Faridpur; 27. Abdus Shukur Miah who was Awami League Social Welfare Secretary in Faridpur; 28. Abdul Jalil Miah, Faridpur; 29. Advocate Kazi Khalilur Rahman, Faridpur; 30. Advocate Aminul Islam who was Awami League Vice President of Netrakona town; 31. Chand Baksh Patwary (Muktar) who was Mahakuma Vice President of Awami League; 32. Dr. Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury, Chandpur Awami League President; 33. Nasiruddin Patwary (Muktar), Chandpur Awami League Vice President; 34. Advocate Fazlul Huq, Secretary, Red Cross, Chandpur; 35. Khushid Alam Chowdury, member, Chandpur Awami League; 36. Bazlur Rahman Sheikh, Treasurer, Chandpur Awami League; 37. Siddiqur Rahman Mridha, member, Chandpur Awami League; 38. Aziz Sheikh Patwari, member, Chandpur Awami League; 39. Mofazzal Hussain, member, Chandpur Awami League and contractor; 40. Nurul Islam, Social Welfare Secretary of Faridganj thana Awami League; 41. Nurul Islam Khan, Netrakona thana Awami League President; 42. Dr. Giasuddin Ahmed, Netrakona Bailati union Awami League Secretary; 43. Sohrab Hossain, Netrakona Awami League member; 44. Emdadul Huq, Netrakona Awami League member; 45. Mujibur Rahman, Rajshahi; 46. Habibur Rahman Khan, elected Awami League MPA from Khulna; 47. Mir Tayyeb Hossain, Jessore Awami League leader; 48. Mohammed Abdul Hakim Bikrampuri; and 49. Rafiuddin Master who was Chairman of the Bnacharampur Peace Committee in Brahmanbaria and father of the present State Minister for Liberation War Affairs ABM Tajul Islam.
