SC stays HC order on cancellation of Amar Desh declaration
 
The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed for four weeks the High Court order that stayed the government action cancelling the declaration of publication the bangla daily Amar Desh.Chamber judge of the Appellate Division Justice SK Sinha also directed the government to file a regular leave to appeal petition with the SC against the High Court order within this period.The chamber judge passed the order after hearing a petition moved by Attorney General Mahbubey Alam seeking stay on the HC order.

The HC on June 10 stayed the government action that cancelled the declaration of publication of the daily.The court on the same day passed the order upon a writ petition filed by Acting Chairman of the daily Amar Desh Anwar-un-Nabi challenging the legality of the government action cancelling the declaration of the daily.

The HC bench also issued a rule upon the government to explain why its action regarding closure of the daily should not be declared illegalThe government recently filed a petition with the SC against the stay order of the HC.Barrister Abdur Razzak argued for the writ petitioner.The government on June 1 cancelled the declaration of Amar Desh citing that it has no authorised publisher.
