Islamic University, Kushtia, July 8 (bdnews24.com) -- At least eight students were injured, of whom two were shot, on Thursday as supporters of two rival factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League clashed at Islamic University, Kushtia.

The campus erupted into violence around 9:30am when the group led by the university unit president Jahangir Hossain and general secretary Shamsuzzaman Tuhin and their rival led by 'Mahbub', 'Khasru' and 'Gaffar' clashed, sources said. Tension gripped the campus since the clash occurred, they said.

Earlier on June 7, the same factions clashed over formation of a new committee for the university unit of the ruling Awami League's student front. It took the intervention from the central BCL leaders to stop the clash temporarily. The authorities had closed the university until July 14 following the clash.
