Ershad killed Zia: Jatiya Party MP
"Trial of killing of Bangabadhu (Sheikh Mujibur Rahman) was already done on May 30, 1981 through the killing of Zia
Nasim Osman MP of Jatiya Party has evoked a controversy by saying that it was General Ershad who killed President Ziaur Rahman in 1981."Ziaur Rahman was killed by General (Army Chief) Ershad and not General Manzur," said Nasim while speaking as chief guest at a reception to outstanding students and elites of his constituency held at Madanganj Model Govt Primary School ground today.
"Trial of killing of Bangabadhu (Sheikh Mujibur Rahman) was already done on May 30, 1981 through the killing of Zia. For, Zia was behind the killing of Bangabandhu," said Nasim evoking surprises among the audience, some of them were seen whispering to each others ears.
Nasim who returned to parliament from Narayanganj-5 explained his involvement in Jatiya Party. "Do you know why I'm doing Jatiya Party of Ershad? It's because the work I was to do was done him (Ershad) by killing Zia."
He said others who were involved in the killing of Bangabandu were tried in the court and awarded death penalty. Some of the convicts were hanged to death. Other convicts remained fugitive will be brought back home shortly and executed.
Local Awami League leaders Mofizul Islam and Sanaullah Sanu were among others who spoke at the function, presided by Modabber Hossain.
