The government house, left, allocated for Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Khaleda Zia on Minto Road in the capital is now ready for her to move in. Her 196 Gulshan Avenue house, right, on 32 kathas of land, also donated to her by the government in 1981, is now being renovated so that she can move there also if she wishes. Photo: Star

'I am now homeless,' the BNP chairperson, Khaleda Zia, said on Wednesday, just four days after she was evicted from her Dhaka Cantonment house.

'You pray for me too,' she retorted when a group of reporters at an Eid-ul-Azha reception requested her to pray for them.Khaleda hosted the reception to exchange Eid greetings with foreign diplomats and people of different professions at the Ladies' Club in the city. She looked calm and composed.

After her eviction from the cantonment house on November 13, Khaleda has been staying at her younger brother Shamim Eskander's house in Gulshan 2. Her two sons — Tarique Rahman and Arafat Rahman — are now in London and Bangkok respectively for treatment.
