[ALOCHONA] Re: The Yunus Saga

And here is the original text I sent to New Age. No complaints for the editing by New Age : )

I just love Nurul Kabir! He is a great, great man! Ezajur

I agree with everything Md Mujibul Alam Khan writes about the Yunus saga (New Age 6/12/10). However the Norwegians made it clear that they were not alleging any corruption by Dr Yunus Corruption is alleged against Dr Yunus by only Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League. Sheikh Hasina and her leaders can barely contain their glee at this setback for Dr Yunus. Her concern for the image of Bangladesh abroad is laughable having done as much as anyone else to damage it over the years. She, and both of her governments, is also accountable for any errors by Grameen Bank. The Prime Minister says that Grameen Bank and Dr Yunus are cruel and fraudulent moneylenders ruining many people's lives and yet she has never done anything about it, year after year. She never initiated an investigation into corruption and incompetence within her own party and government. She has taken a greater interest in investigating Dr Yunus than investigating the recent BDR tragedy or any possible criminality conducted by anyone who supports her. Our Prime Minister has muzzled Dr Yunus and now seeks to damage him permanently. She cannot bear the fact that the Nobel Peace Prize won by the good doctor is more illustrious that the Indira Gandhi Peace Prize she won. She cannot bear the fact that he is called doctor and she is not inspite of many honorary doctorates lobbied for by her lackeys in universities abroad. That the good doctor, as is his right, should dare to enter politics is a personal affront to her. He would bring more honour, good sense and vision to the office of President or Prime Minister in one term than either Sheikh Hasina or Khaleda Zia could in a dozen terms.
