India is constructing barbed wire fence on no-man's land
Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) was conspicuously silent when Indian border security force (BSF) constructing barbed wire fence on no-man's land violating the international law on the Akhaura border.(UNB)
According to the residents of the border, BSF troops were cutting earth at places even surpassing the no-man's land between the border pillar No. 2023 to 2024. The earth has overflowed to the Bangladesh territory. They have done it about 1 km between the two border pillars without any objection by BGB.
Asked about the violation, BSF company commander of the area A R Mondal told a group of Bangladeshi journalists, "We are following the instructions of the higher authority. The earth overflowed to Bangladesh territory would be cleared after we have constructed wall and raised barbed wire fence."
Responding meekly to a query about it BGB 12 battalion commander Lt Col Syed Afzalul Abedin said, "We will go to the spot and arrangements will be made through discussion with BSF.
