Benapole, Feb 17 (UNB) - Indian border security force (BSF) have killed a cattle trader at Putkhali border early hours today.Local BGB company commander Emdad Hossain confirmed the death of Israfil, 30, by the BSF jawans.

He said a small group of traders was returning with cattle they purchased in the Indian side. The BSF troops of Angrali border outpost chased them. Israfil was caught while others managed to flee.

Israfil was taken to the BSF camp and subjected to inhuman physical torture, including electric shock. And then he was thrown into the border river Ichhamati.

Fellow traders who were on the close watch rescued Israfil from the river and rushed to Bagachra clinic where doctors declared him dead.

Israfil, son of Abdul Momin, hailed from Syamlagachhi village in Sharsha upazila.

Tension was boiling on the border following the death of Israfil.

Killing of Bangladeshi nationals by Indian BSF continued unabated despite New Delhi made repeated and solemn pledges to refrain from barbarism.
