[ALOCHONA] RE: [Diagnose] BD concedes Transit Corridor to India?

Br. Akhtar:
US and Mexico is a total scenario. It is drug that the US is trying to stop not anything else. Thousands and thousands of people are crossing the border each and everyday without any casualty.

All what you say are 100% correct, but what is the solution ? bullying by big brothers are part of the human history. Why india is not shooting at Pak/chaina borders, becacuse the are neuclear power. US is behaving same way at mexcican border.

Either we have to be powerful enough to say India "get lost", or we have to adopt , shark and pilot fish diplomacy.

Mr. Hossain
Transit free of Charge, Proper share of water (down stream), 3 bigha corridor, Tipai Mukh badh etc.,  List can be long which both you and I know. I don't think you don't know all these.
Transit, transshipment, corridor etc are done by two neighbors who have two common ingradients (political, economical). Both the countries and their people have to be comfortable regarding these two matters, not only the governments. In both the cases, if you take survey in Bangladesh, you will find that Bangladeshi people are not at all comfortable to make any concession to Indians above and beyond. The trust simply is not there. They Iindia) have not shown that trustworthiness since Bangladesh emancipated, except during the war of independence. They have never showed good and normal neighborhoodship to Bangladesh. Good neighbor never put barbed wire fence with neighbor who is politically and economically weak. Good neighbor never shoot people at sight in the border even if someone is crossing. Don't you think, Indian people are crossing border? They do (number may be less). Did you ever heard that BDR has shot dead an Indian on first sight? Did you ever hear that a Pakistani was and a chinese had been shot dead by Indian while they are crossing border or vice versa. There has to be mutual respect between the two neighbors not 'dadagiri'. And then other mutual concessions come along with the proper trust. Let me tell you these agreement, which even the 'Sangsad does not know yet, will be thrown out as soon this 'Bharatbandhob' government is gone. I hope I have met some of your curiosity atleast.

Hello Mr. Shahadat,

I was reading this thread for the last few mails.

I am not very familiar with the agreement. Here is your words "But Hasina in some cases gave more than they needed." Could you please explain those "some cases" so that people like us get  true information and got a understanding of what has actually happened. .

Regards,

Bakul.

And what about Port Charges that BD Port Authority collects from every ship that loads or unloads?
What about Business that BD Railway and Trucking Companies would get transporting Goods?
What about India's help in building the Roads that those Trucks would use?
None of that is going to create any jobs for high Un-employment Bangladeshis?
Oh no, BD is going to load-unload all Goods for free paying the Labor cost of loading and unloading, buy Trucks, put Petrol in those Trucks, hire Truck Drivers to drive them out of her Pocket, no charge to India, right?

The other countries that you cited as examples get good amount of revenue in terms of fees to make money. You are comparing apple to oranges though the situations look alike. If India gives proper fees then there should not be any problem. But Hasina in some cases gave more than they needed. Please talk substance, not just talk.

Roads constructed for these purposes will almost certainly be used for India's military purposes, which may even be from the very first consignment of smaller items, scheduled from 20 March. (Please see: ODC shipment begins March 20 http://www.bdnews24.com/details.php?cid=2&id=189840). This is not only a security risk, it is occupation of our infrastructure, an attempt to subjugate us, which may also drag us between warring parties.

They know we were denied transit from/to Nepal, Bhutan, etc. They know the problems between the two countries have not been resolved. The very serious problems of river water, border killings, smuggling in India's favour, enclaves, trade policies, conspiracy and hegemony, military and security, etc., etc. are in the way of developing friendly relations between the two countries. The govt is still behaving like lackeys mesmerised under the spell of a hegemonic power.
