Re: [ALOCHONA] Prof Anu Muhammad on Grameen episode

Anu Muhammad is an Economist by profession and an activist. He used to be a left, has been active since long, guess much before Yunus become a professor or a PHD. So far he only makes some noise and claims that has effectively stopped some action or policy of the governments. Yet miserably failed to build an institution that we all can rely or feel proud of. His tel gas rakhya committee off and on make some moves but nothing serious. If one looks at his website (meghbarta) soon can understand - nothing comprehensive even substantive. It means he does not want to educate his people through a concerted effort. Read few of his books, less research based, more rhetoric.

If Dr. yunus built his empire with the foreign help, (i agree) what stopped AM to build an institution from his own society, can't he rely on us, our 2 or 10 taka, infact he could not motivate, couldn't be an inspiration. Often his moves on our energy I find doubtful and dubious, whom he is protecting? Almost 40 years, he couldnt create a challange to our policy makers dealing with our energy sector as he should have been. He failed himself and failed us. Yet, I appreciate his effrot as nai mamar theke kana mama ei deshe.

Badruddin Umar, Akash they couldn't live up to our expectation what they have once created. As a fellow human and their country man I simply pitty them (they wasted their talent and labour).

Latest is Atiar Rahman- man, his 'nodi and manush' ideas bogged down to help only millions to value less scripts, loose for their life time. That was criminal negligence (if I do not call it deliberate attempt) to allow commercial banks to use depositors funds to put in DSE. Today banks has no cash to do their normal consumer financing(I was told yesterday -13th march, by a big bank that BB has asked them to stop giving loan). He made a biggest loss for BB in 2010 fiscal year.
How much you can say on these economists often their role and actions appears as dubious and cruel to our people.

World bank was created to help Europe recover under Marshal plan, lots of its financing very politically motivated, yet it helps. Today UN is another failed common body, yet we pin our hope. West becoming more corrupt and oppressive, yet for many aspects we look up to them. Grameen is no different. But Anu's intention was not much different from our vindictive political culture and practice.
Thanks.
