Subject: Mahmudur calls for march against transit-corridor
Thousands of people joined the civic reception of Mahmudur Rahman on 5 May at Bhuban Mohan Park, Rajshahi.
Mahmudur said, because of death-barrage Farakka, one-third of Bangladesh has dried up and the northern region has been desertified. Until and unless compensation is paid for this water aggression, no Indian vehicles would be allowed to move over the bosom of Bangladesh (Note: Indian vehicles have already been plying between Ashuganj and Agartala for transit-corridor of unchecked heavy machinery and equipment. It is programmed do so for at least the next seven months with the unloading of further 83 vessels.). He urged the patriots to unite.
He said, the leader of the workers, peasants and the poor, Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani led the Farakka long march against India's water aggression and for defending our sovereignty. [Note: "On the morning of 16 March 1976, he (Bhashani) addressed a mammoth gathering of people at the Madrash Miadan, Rajshahi, from where the Long March commenced. Hundreds of thousands of people walked more than 100 kilometers on foot for days. The March continued up to Kansat, a place near the India-Bangladesh border, close to the Farakka barrage." Wikipedia]. We will also hold a march against transit-corridor and India's water aggression from Rajshahi to the point of transit-corridor. He urged the patriots within BAL to join the march.
He said, I shall never fall behind in the movement for safeguarding independence and sovereignty and for defending freedom of speech. I am not afraid. The govt can kill me, but they cannot defeat me!

We launched a vigorous campaign to free Mahmudur from the prison. We will fully support if a march is held against transit-corridor and for safeguarding our independence and sovereignty!
