Chronic poverty, gender disparities and lack of awareness keep the majority of children in Bangladesh out of school. The quality of education is also marred by low completion rates and a shortage of schools and qualified teachers. JAAGO Foundation's initiative to provide free of cost English Medium education to the underprivileged children of the slums of Rayer Bazaar is a small but significant step towards solving that major predicament.
JAAGO Foundation realizes that education makes children less vulnerable to exploitation, introduces structure in their lives and alleviates the barriers to a better future. Many of us take education for granted, but numerous underprivileged children are not blessed with such a prospect. That is why JAAGO focuses on helping the most disadvantaged and vulnerable children aiming to provide a safe and protective environment where they can learn the basic skills needed to succeed in their lives. Every penny that you put towards a childs' education works many-fold. Your donation will help us get children from many other families into our school. It will also facilitate our efforts of building classrooms, supplying books and other instruments to the students, training teachers and working with the community to improve access to education for all children. Each child has a separate sponsor to bear his or her educational expenses. BDT 1000 (USD 15, EUR 10, GBP 10, CAD 15, AUD 15) per month is the minimum amount that covers all expenditures for one particular child. JAAGO currently is home to 280 children. 30 are still looking for sponsors. You can choose to sponsor any of them and change his or her life forever.
You can also choose to fund the necessary schooling equipments for any number of children you like. The estimated funds needed for each item per child per year are listed below:
This donation system is completely flexible. For example, you can choose to bear the expenses for all the items of one child, or you can donate money for the schoolbags of 30 different children.
How does JAAGO select its students from thousands of applicants?
JAAGO selects its students from the poorest families whose parents are completely incapable of carrying out their kid's educational expenses. JAAGO also puts special consideration on selecting those children who have single parents.
Each of these kids has a designated individual sponsor to bear all the educational expenses of him/her. By contributing BDT 1000 (USD 15, EUR 10, GBP 10, CAD 15, AUD 15) per month, you can also be a part of this noble endeavor of facilitating the achievement of these kids' highest potential.

We highly recommend that the sponsors are involved in the lives of the child they sponsor. In a way, sponsors can serve as mentors as well as financial providers.
