Porimol found guilty
Star Online Report A government probe has found Porimol Joydhor, the
sacked Bangla teacher of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, guilty
of sexually assaulting a class-X female student of the school's
Bashundhara branch.
The investigation held responsible Principal Husne Ara Begum and the
managing committee of the institution for delaying to take prompt
measures, which aggravated the situation.
The five-member committee headed by SM Waheduzzaman, examination
controller of the Dhaka Education Board, submitted the probe report to
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Sunday.
After receiving the report, Nahid told reporters at his ministry that
the allegations brought against Porimol have been proofed beyond doubt
by the investigators.
Some people tried to create instability as the managing committee
could not take proper initiatives to tackle the situation, the
minister said quoting from the report.
Porimol was arrested on July 6 from Keraniganj outside the capital on
the allegation of violating the girl at his Badda coaching centre on
May 28. The arrest came a day after the student's father filed a case
against him with Badda Police Station.
On July 7, a Dhaka court placed him on remand for five days. On the
fourth day of the remand, Porimol made confessional statement before
Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan at his chamber.
The school authorities dismissed him on July 5 following protests of a
large number of students and guardians against him. They also demanded
his exemplary punishment.
