BSF intrusion escalates tension along Sylhet border


Sylhet: Tension escalated along the border here after some Indian border guards intruded into Bangladesh territory on Friday.Workers at Tamabil Land Port said 5-6 armed BSF members crossed the border at about 3:20 pm and claimed a dumping spot of the port as 'Indian land'.(UNB)
According to the workers, the BSF men asked Bangladeshis to vacate the land and hurled abuses at locals as they protested the BSF intrusion.
Later, other workers from the land port rushed to the spot and informed nearby BGB members about the matter.As they did not see BGB men around, a group of workers, led by Liton Ahmed, general secretary of coal workers association, appeared on the scene.

At one stage, they had an altercation with the BSF members. Later, the Indian border guards returned to their land after their 20-minute stay inside Bangladesh territory, according to the locals.Later, BGB members from Tamabil outpost came to the spot and talked to the businessmen and local journalists.
