The answers to your question is very simple and straightforward. The Islam that is being followed by extremists is what is written in the books of Bukhari. These are just books which are full of man made laws attributed to Islam. Islam on the other hand is a very broad minded religion. Unfortunately, all those Muslims who say they are practicing Muslims have never even bothered to read the Quran. It is a very open minded religion but people don't follow it. It is clearly written in the Quran that closest in love to the Muslims, you will find those who say we are Christians. Then where is the question of segregation?
Yes, Muslims do not eat pork or drink alcohol as it is considered an evil practice. There are so man Hindus and Christians who do not drink. The so-called jehadists are basically people who have been brainwashed by the clergy who divide the people. I dont see any problems in following the Quran wich teaches you to treat everyone equally irrespective of their religion. The only time the Quran urges one to fight is in self defense and against oppression. It repeatedly says not to begin any hostilities. And if the enemy (those who are attacking Muslims on account of their faith) incline towards peace, then Muslims too should incline towards peace.
Yes, there are Arabs and there are Muslims who follow the Arab mentality and so called hadith of Bukhari, who fall into a trap and create a wall between themselves and the rest of humanity.
