At least 106 people were killed and 9801 injured in political violence across the country in the last 10 months, according to a report released by rights group Odhikar.The report prepared based on reports published in different national dailies said 114 journalists were injured, 44 threatened and 41 assaulted across the country during the period.

It said 20 people disappeared during the period from January 1 to October 30 this year.

According to the report, the highest number of 14 political killings each took place in January and May, while 11 people were killed in October, 13 each in June and September, 10 each in February and August, eight in April, seven in July and six in March.

The highest 36 journalists were injured in attacks in June alone, while the lowest four in March, according to the Odhikar report.

It said 15 people were tortured to death, 89 died in jail custody, 422 people fell victim to dowry-related violence while 625 women and children became victim of rape across the country during the period.

About human rights violation in frontier areas, Odhikar said 22 Bangladeshi nationals were killed and 53 others injured in unprovoked firing by Indian Boarder Security Force (BSF) along the border during the period. Besides, 54 people were killed in incidents of crossfire, 15 tortured to death and one was beaten to death, while one was shot dead during the period, the report said.
