Also note that, Obama administration is well aware of our internal politics and they have been maintaining working relationship with many religious leaning parties all over the world (Egypt, Turkey, Tunisia, Libya...etc).
However if any member is confident about it, they can try it out.

মার্কিন রাষ্ট্রদূতের জামায়াতের সাথে সংলাপে বসার আহবানকে দুঃখজনক উল্লেখ করে মেনন বলেন, 'জামায়াতের সাথে সরকারের সংলাপের বসার বক্তব্যকে তারা প্রত্যাহার করে নেবেন বলে আমরা আশা করি।'
এ সময় তিনি অভিযোগ করে বলেন, যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার বানচাল করতে দেশে বিদেশে জামায়াত লবিস্ট নিয়োগ করেছে। একইসাথে দেশে তাণ্ডব চালিয়ে নৈরাজ্যের মাধ্যমে তাদের বাঁচাতে চাইছে।
মহাজোট সরকারের অন্যতম এই শরিক নেতা বলেন, একাত্তর সালে এই মার্কিন শক্তি এই দেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধের বিরোধিতা করেছিল। এখন আবার তাদের এই প্রস্তাব দুঃখজনক।
এ সময় মার্কিন দূতাবাসের প্রস্তাবে স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রীর অবস্থানকে অভিনন্দন জানিয়ে তিনি বলেন, জামায়াতের সাথে কোনো সংলাপ নয়। মুক্তিযুদ্ধে সপক্ষের সকল শক্তি ও অসাম্প্রদায়িক শক্তিকে নিয়ে ঐক্যবদ্ধভাবে প্রতিরোধ গড়ে তুলতে হবে।
সংগঠনের সভাপতি অজয় রায়ের সভাপতিত্বে সমাবেশে জাতীয় সমাজতান্ত্রিক দলের (জাসদ) কেন্দ্রীয় নেতা শিরীন আক্তার, ওয়ার্কার্স পার্টির পলিটব্যুরোর সদস্য বিমল বিশ্বাস, মুক্তিযোদ্ধা সংহতি পরিষদের মহাসচিব আব্দুস সামাদ পিন্টু, খেলাঘরের সভাপতি অধ্যাপিকা মাহফুজা খানম প্রমুখ বক্তব্য রাখেন।

I think more reactions like this will only help Jammat. If giving trial to war criminals is the core issue, let it go on. Offer a fair trial and punish anyone who is found guilty. Right now media and BAL are advertising for Jamaat and this short sighted policy may backfire on them. Since both major parties formed coalition with this party, it will be hard to convince people to ban such party. However the mass population are supportive of a Fair trial for war criminals and government should take all necessary actions to ensure a smooth and transparent trial to find closure for many Bangladeshi families.

We should write to Obama. Since Avijit has already established a personal connection with Obama, he may kindly take the initiative. Obama should know our aspirations as Bengalis.
