Re: [mukto-mona] Victory for Obama - A decisive win!!!

Also three women were elected in Senate as well. I think the state of Hawai also elected the first practicing Hindu law maker in US history. Obama has his limitations but he made the most of his tight spot and made as much progress as possible.

It was a great answer to growing fanatic right wingers as well. The tea baggers will be silenced for a while and America realized it is a new day in American history. From this point on, no political party can effort to ignore the growing young population anymore. The demographic changed forever and diversity will bring new depth to America and enrich it with wisdom from all corners of the globe.

Well done democrats, don't be afraid say you are a liberal anymore!

Shalom!

Subject: [mukto-mona] Victory for Obama - A decisive win!!!

Barack Obama made history again. Four years ago, he became the first African American elected president, promoting a wave of hope and promises of change.  Last night with the victories in crucial states such as Iowa, Wisconsin and then Ohio - he became the 17th President to win second term, and probably  the first president since Franklin Roosevelt to win a second term when unemployment was so high (around 8%)  and nation looked uneasy about the nation's future.  The president stormed to victory in swing states from Pennsylvania to Wisconsin, assuring his election even as voters in Florida, Virginia and Colorado rendered a closer verdict.

Many of the republican "pundits" like Dick Morris, Ann Coulter had predicted a Romney landslide. The reality turned out to be just opposite. In the end, it wasn't even close. Barack Obama won re-election handily over Mitt Romney with 303 electoral votes, well more than the 270 electoral votes needed. Of the nine battleground states that were up for grabs, Obama won 7 of them, losing only North Carolina (Florida still remains to be called). It was rather landslide victory for Obama, not Romney.

Republican Party has become the Greedy, Self-centered and old-fashioned grandma party.  Yesterday's Verdict went against that! Romney and Ryan lost their own states – Massachusetts  and Wisconsin respectively.  Majority of young folks picked Obama for his stable vision, rather than war-mongering Republicans. More encouraging news to me was .... the "Republican Rape Team" led by Richard Murdock, Todd Akin et al also could not win following Romney's path.

Congrats to Obama, .... as well as Elizabeth Warren, Joe Donnelly and others for keeping our hope!
