21 October 2013. The BNP office has been cordoned off by the police since 17 October 2013. Khaleda's home was cordoned off yesterday, 20 October 2013. Tonight in the presence of Khaleda
and many top leaders of the BNP, the police brutally assaulted some people in the cars of BNP members in front of the BNP office and they arrested a former leader of the Chhatra Dal.
Indications are that Khaleda may be house-arrested or interned, if the BNP rejects the one-sided election conspiracy of the present illegal government and launches any movement. The 15th amendment of the constitution was devised
through the High Court and the Parliament, one of the objectives being to hold an election of the BKSAL, by the BKSAL and for the BKSAL. Anyone expecting a free, fair, transparent and credible election by this illegal govt has been living in the paradise of fools. The country right now is in the state of undeclared emergency with meetings, demonstrations, gatherings, etc. banned in Dhaka city until further notice.
The patriots have no other alternatives except for launching movement and organising mass uprising similar to anti-Ershad movement of 1990. Manoeuvres in talks are OK, but if the strength of the people are not behind a party, then either it has to surrender or retreat. The patriots must connect with the people and organise them. The people right now are totally opposed to the present govt. On a fair election, it would be difficult for BAL to win even 20 seats, according to many.
This govt has perpetrated three massacres (on BDR, Jamaat and Hefazat) and it has committed brutal killings, abductions, mass imprisonment, plunder, loot, reckless corruption, lawlessness, grabbing, torture, tyranny, extortion, misrule and general oppression and, above all, this govt has sold out national interest and surrendered sovereignty to India.
This govt must be ousted. There is no point in playing democracy with the perpetrators of massacres! (Why would this gangster govt suddenly become angels and arrange a free, fair, transperent and credible election?). All patriots must unite.
The opposition must be vigilant and aware of any election conspiracies by BAL and its mentors, whose brutalities are known in the above massacres, judicial murders, at the border, in CHT, etc. In 2008, the opposition was coerced into accepting a pre-determined election. If they fall into the trap again, it would mean indefinite BKSAL rule, obliteration of opposition and existential threat to the country, in which case we would need to go into a long drawn process of resistance struggle for our independence and sovereignty.
