Subject: [mukto-mona] Media Guidelines in Bangladesh

Today, I heard on Bangladesh TV that government is taking measures to formulate guidelines for the Print, Air, and Internet media. I was asking for this also. Bangladesh has been a wild west for the media. This was necessary, considering the fact that they have been fabricating news for many years, instead of disseminating them without twist and political motives.

It's a fine line between censorship and freedom of speech. Everything depends on the definition and interpretation of freedom of speech. Nobody has freedom to spread falsehood or news with malicious intent.

I welcome this government initiative.

Jiten Roy
