Opposition is an integral part of democracy . When opposition plays positive role , democracy flourishes , country develops and move forward . But in a democratic country like Bangladesh we didn't witness those practices from BNP led opposition recently . In the name of opposition movement BNP have created undemocratic environment in the country . Without reasonable issues they have relentlessly boycotted the parliament , the center piece of democratic practices. With out mass support , they started so called movement to topple an elected Awami League govt. As BNP led movement was total failure , they started anarchy and violence all over the country with the help of Anti-liberation forces like Jamaat and others. They did every thing to destroy the image and economy of Bangladesh . They have burned innocent peoples to death in daylight throwing cocktails in motor vehicles , expensive rail lines all over the country were uprooted , power plants were destroyed , hundreds of school premises were burned down to stop the general election . But BNP led so called oppositions were total failure to stop the election . Despite of widespread violence about 40% enthusiastic voters cast their vote in the election. That means peace loving people of Bangladesh have rejected the undemocratic anarchy activities of BNP led opposition . This should be a lesson to the present Jatiyo Party led opposition in Bangladesh . After many years democratic world will witness true democratic values and practice in Bangladesh from both government and the opposition .
BNP led opposition have finally anticipated their mistakes not to participate in the last election and have decided to participate in the upcoming local elections without any preconditions .This is a good sign for democracy in Bangladesh. Peace loving people of Bangladesh wants "Democratic opposition , not a violent one" !
